In our small video studio it gets quite loud with a guitar amp for our videos. The decibel levels in the room can cause damage to your hearing, I've played for nearly 200 videos and gig several nights a week as well and after having been careless with my hearing in the past I now wear plugs when necessary. Actually, because of allergy issues I've had temporary ringing in my ears before and can assure you that is not something you want to live your life with. These plugs are made by a company called Earasers. They are actually really amazing in keeping harmful frequencies out of your ears but allowing you to hear musical nuance as well.
If PRS were to put their pickup switch in front of the volume know, kinda like MM Majesty style I'd have a few of them. Instead putting the pickup switch between the volume and tone is inexcusable. Just plain weird.
I suspect that either (a) the acoustic amp needed to have its e.q. tweaked, or (b) during post production, the audio was e.q.-ed to handle the loud distorted sounds (which reverberated in the room, and can become rather shrill in a small room), but the e.q. was not adjusted when the quieter piezo-only section occurred. Just guesses on my part. 🙂
