He is the best example of that old saying tone is in the fingers ...all the tiny micro bends and embellishments he does naturally is incredible when you look for them. He is the most dynamic player going around
Even when i don't feel like playing or learning i watch this guy cos he is the Happiest guitar player iv'e ever seen and it makes me feel good 👍 Thank you Sir 😎
Absolutely agree. I love hearing Tim's solos as he will be playing some pentatonic stuff and then, all of a sudden, there's a switch, which makes your ears go "what happened there?". Fantastic stuff. :)
You can like Paul or not, but he’s still one of the rare living guitar builder with his name on the headstock that still sells something other companies forgot for a long time now: He’s selling dreams. When you see his guitars, even without touching them or listening to them, you want to know more about them, you aspire to get your own too. This is what Fender Strats, Gibson Les Paul and such were back in the days.
Tim is one of those people who automatically brings a smile to your face. You'd be far fetched to find a musician that bleeds passion as he does. That's why he's a great, I feel like he provides nothing short of 100% initiative to make his playing great. Well anyway, it's special to watch that's for sure.
I’ve seen people rag on Paul for his interviews and other things, but I don’t look at it as over talking interviewers, but more as a guy that loves what he does and is excited or excitable to get his points out. There’s no arguing with quality of his products and his love for music. That Dragon guitar is something else, Tim’s is amazing but Paul’s is bigger
Tim, wow! Wonderful instrument and of course wonderful playing! I’ve been a Gibson man for 50 years. Last year I bought a PRS wood library 594 semi hollow, single cut (It looks like the blue guitar Tyler’s playing except mine’s in copper burst) and I’ve never been in love with a guitar so much is this one. It’s a dead ringer between the 335 & a LesPaul! Now if I can play as well as you, I’m 68 I’ll just be happy where I’m at, learning a bit every day.
Tim... love. Love, love all your videos, instruction and of course, your anaxing, tasty playing. You played on a record that we made in 1981 with Keith Olsen for Geffen Records. You are a king amongst mortal men. A true beautiful human that is also player's player. Rock on my good man.
Me: "Yeah, that PRS is sick, but can you play this?" (hand Tim a stick of wood with six bailing wires strung across it) Tim: "Well, let me see what I can do..." (Tim plays it and sounds frik-in AMAZING!) Seriously though, that PRS looks and sounds sweet!
I recently bought a PRS Hollowbody SE, and it is a delightful instrument. Paul Reed Smith has done us all a big favour by providing superb instruments at an affordable price, and Tim Pierce brings them to life. I love hearing him play; I’ve just got to plug in my guitar and see where I go.😊❤
I have had a PRS SE HB II for a year now and it has transformed my guitar playing life. No guitar makes you a better guitar player but it is inspiring to have one that plays so beautifully, sounds so great and lets you become as good as you can be without getting in your way. It's pure joy to play. Unbelievable quality for the money.
That guitar has the looks of the Mona Lisa of guitars and the sound quality of a priceless Steinway of pianos. I like the part where Paul taps the wood of the neck and it sounds so resonant. Wow! I'm ringing the bell!!
Beautiful playing and guitar tone, LUSCIOUS! edit: And Paul, man you keep hitting it out of the park with your instruments. Hey we wanted to hear about that red Dragon in your hands too!
Holy cow, the tone you crafted for your 2nd solo (at 2:21) is *so sweet*! Tim, if you're still reading the comments and have time to respond, please fill us in on what you did for that tone. -Tom
Dude, your intro jams have the most tastiest and defined tones. It's so inspiring and makes guitar playing sound so fun! PRS's are a worthy competitor in this age of modern brands. Cheers
Love the purfling look. I'm putting the finishing touches on my first self-designed-and-built single cut and I'm so happy I decided to go with a 'faux binding' with black purfling.
Never miss a Tim pierce video. You'll just want to play more and better by listening and watching his techniques. Tim, let's get Rhett in on a PRS vid. I hear he digs the the new T-Style.
I have to admit, the first time I listened to that first solo at the top of the video, my jaw was on the floor. Amazing tone from that beast! Very subtle wah wah too! (I think!) Enjoy!!!!
Tim could play a 2x4 with an old chain and it would be incredible... I’m not sure how many times I can be blown away by the musical creativity, mastery and true definition of the word professional. Thanks for letting us “under the hood” on this project!
Such a beautiful guitar!! I have a 594 Hollowbody and a Hollowbody ii and you have combined both of these into one truly incredible looking instrument!!
@MrFourToTheBar Personally, I prefer them - smaller, more comfortable body shape, better quality fit/finish and playability (although as Tim will say, some may prefer to fight the instrument), more options (piezo and/or Coil Splits), solid wood instead of laminates which I think handles gain better (easier to control or mitigate feedback) and has the input jack in the right place - not sticking out of the front! I think if I was looking for a 335 body shape in particular, I would look at the the Collings I-35 Deluxe or even the Eastman - solid carved wood - not laminates steam pressed... I think the 335 is a fantastic instrument, but I don't think its the 'best' option - but some will insist it is because it has Gibson on the headstock...
Since now PRS is selling the SE Hollowbody II Piezo, you could work with PRS to make a small batch of Tim Pierce signature guitars, based on this Private Stock. Buy the guitar and get few courses online ;)
It's the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen! And it is in good hands. I hope that you will have a good relationship the two of you. Looking forward to watch you playing more
I am SOOO freak’n jealous! You slime bag! That guitar is beautiful to the ears and eyes. Tim, you made the right decision to go semi hollow ! I’m such a wood junky. I would like to give a heart felt thank you to “The Guitar” - for providing me with my life. Peace
Tim and Paul... a match made in heaven!!! Just amazing how much Paul is ALL IN ... ALL THE TIME. Much love and respect for both you guys. Thanks as always Tim for taking us on the journey with you sir!!!!
Congrats Tim on the stellar new guitar! I have three PRS Private Stock instruments. Two that I ordered & a McCarty Graveyard II. I have owned or played guitars by most high-end luthiers for sale today. There are two builders that sit over and above the others and that is Paul Reed Smith and John Suhr. Opening the case on one of their custom guitars for the first time is indescribable. The level of attention to detail results in near perfect instruments, in my opinion. They pay close attention to what I, as a player, request. Although my requirements aren't too far outside of the 'normal', they're just specs that make me feel more comfortable as a guitarist. While the visuals of a PRS are stunning, it's the little things in it's build and functionality that makes all the difference. The pretty package is just a bonus.
Holy. Hell. Mr. Pierce... you may have the most beautiful looking and sounding guitar. I was always sold on John Mayer’s first guitar for Dead & Co. but my lord that is so amazing. Totally made the right choice by not going solid body. My goodness, I just can’t imagine how happy you are and what it’s like to play. Congrats and well deserved. Much love from Tulsa.
Tim, when you play that PRS, I just close my eyes and use my ears to envision what you mean by the ton of tone that particular guitar makes. That guitar is a real jaw dropper.👌🤘👍
Your new axe sounds great and looks beautiful! The tap test on the neck block? Wow. But, it always amazes me how you just flow through different feels and rhythms so effortlessly. Gobsmacked every time!
Hey Tim, I know it's been a few years, but it would be awesome if you could have Mateus Asato back on the channel. I loved that episode of Tim and Pete's guitar show where you, him, and Pete had a jam session together. Fantastic content as always!
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve been waiting for this ever since you chose the wood. Unbelievable guitar for an unbelievable player. I really like how the brush stroke birds extend under the fret wire to the adjacent fret.
That's one happy Tim right there! Have you put a scratch on that gem yet?? I dropped my trem arm on my 1st PRS before lifting it out of the case to play for the first time. After micro-seconds of shock, despair, rage and self-loathing ... I settled on "well that's out of the way - what a relief!" Thanks for another great video!
Hi Tim! That guitar is awesome. I followed your link and signed up for the music school event. I also looked at PRS's website and got inspired and I thought I would share my story. On their downloadable chord chart there is a tip to ideally practice an hour a day and you will see great improvement in your skills. At first I dismissed this since "I have bad practice habits." Then I realized, I can have good habits and I've been practicing at least an hour a day since last week. Thanks for all your great videos! See you online in August.
Aesthetically, I can’t get past the switch on the upper horn. Sonically, (and seemingly playability wise) that thing is incredible. I feel like if I closed my eyes I couldn’t tell the difference between that and a vintage Es or burst. Sounds great. The humbuckers are focused and bright, clear, punchy. Like Big, full tele pickups.
I'm honestly not one for the massively figured woods and all the admittedly beautiful and intricate details, but that guitar is flat out gorgeous! One of the few crazy expensive guitars I would love to have. : )
It’s about time Tim gets a signature model guitar ! I got his OD signature pedal and it’s quality so pretty confident what ever guitar brand he goes with and specs out will be rad. He has to be one of the few people in the guitar world who you know wouldn’t just put his name to anything for the sake of a quick $$$buck I’d even pre-order if that’s what it takes
Hi Tim, congratulations on that dream guitar! On my way to sign up for the class. The world is a personal place and I want to support you guys and the effort, so thank you. I wonder if you could do a lesson on the lead you were playing right before Paul came on. Beautiful! Was coincidentally beginning a PRS hunt and yours certainly is mana for thought... Cheers, Tim. -Greg
I can't get over the fret board inlays, the bleed between fret inlays into the adjoining frets is master builder stuff. prs. it sounds great. stay safe to be well and enjoy for a long time. thanks for sharing. respect. prs the nightmare, can you refret my guitar please 😂
Tim, I consider you one of the worlds greatest guitarists as Im sure many do. Im interested to know, what guitar playing related things you dont personally consider yourself to have mastered?
Wow Tim what beautiful playing (especially the open OMG) and your right not only does that guitar look incredible it sounds even better (Although I think you and your fingers have A Lot to do with that. Thanks for another great video !!
Everything Tim plays just sounds so perfect. He's a genuine genius and a master of his craft. Constantly in awe of him.
A musician's musician.
He loves what he does...you can see the joy.
He is the best example of that old saying tone is in the fingers ...all the tiny micro bends and embellishments he does naturally is incredible when you look for them. He is the most dynamic player going around
Even when i don't feel like playing or learning i watch this guy cos he is the Happiest guitar player iv'e ever seen and it makes me feel good 👍
Thank you Sir 😎
@Ron Gillespie True, I've been thinking about what makes Tim a great, and it's his computer-like rhythm. He never misses a beat by even a hair.
I love watching Tim play. He just looks like a man having way too much fun!!
Absolutely agree. I love hearing Tim's solos as he will be playing some pentatonic stuff and then, all of a sudden, there's a switch, which makes your ears go "what happened there?". Fantastic stuff. :)
Yup, Lots of guitarists have guitar face, Tim has Guitar Smile, its great.
He's like the kid that didn't just wake up with a brand new guitar but also the skills of an absolute virtuoso to enjoy it with.
Mr. Pierce, I’ve always been blessed every time I hear you play! Your feel is so great. Thanks for sharing
Tim is one of those people who automatically brings a smile to your face. You'd be far fetched to find a musician that bleeds passion as he does. That's why he's a great, I feel like he provides nothing short of 100% initiative to make his playing great. Well anyway, it's special to watch that's for sure.
Tim is no doubt a great player, but I love his enthusiasm and love of music which shines through.
I’ve seen people rag on Paul for his interviews and other things, but I don’t look at it as over talking interviewers, but more as a guy that loves what he does and is excited or excitable to get his points out. This is like 3 of the best PRS models melded into one... What a gem!
Hollowbody II 594 is the GOAT.
Me: "Yeah, that PRS is sick, but can you play this?" (hand Tim a stick of wood with six bailing wires strung across it)
Tim: "Well, let me see what I can do..." (Tim plays it and sounds frik-in AMAZING!)
Seriously though, that PRS looks and sounds sweet!
Some guitars are like a Ferrari... This one seems more like a Pagani.

Intro solo was monster and Tyler's at the end was as well. Great sound you both had. Looking forward to camp!
That guitar has the looks of the Mona Lisa of guitars and the sound quality of a priceless Steinway of pianos. I like the part where Paul taps the wood of the neck and it sounds so resonant. Wow! I'm ringing the bell!!
Tim's playing on this video is superb. He gets better and better - Wow. That lick at 6:48 is magic.
It looks like he’s so happy he found that lol
Beautiful playing and guitar tone, LUSCIOUS!
edit:
And Paul, man you keep hitting it out of the park with your instruments. Hey we wanted to hear about that red Dragon in your hands too!
Pierced the market, when can the public expect to be able to get a Tim Pierce signature model, this is a winner PRS stunning 😊👍❤️
And only $22,500... so a total bargain when compared to Stradivari :)
Cheers
Worthy competitor, I would say they are top notch regardless of time period.
@@juanvaldez5422 That is very true, agreed
Man that neck block of Mahogany had a crazy resonance all on it's own.
That was my though as well. It was an instrument all on it's own
Love the purfling look. I'm putting the finishing touches on my first self-designed-and-built single cut and I'm so happy I decided to go with a 'faux binding' with black purfling.
The tap test on that neck blank is so musical!! sounded like an instrument already
*That's a looker!*
Both are unique.I can't decide but Tim play it so well😆😆
Love Tim's playing his PRS 335 is an object of desire both for playing and its aesthetic quality
Never miss a Tim pierce video. You'll just want to play more and better by listening and watching his techniques. Tim, let's get Rhett in on a PRS vid. I hear he digs the the new T-Style.
I really like Paul. Some people are put off by his brashness, I think that is part of his genius. Thanks Tim for the interview!!
I have to admit, the first time I listened to that first solo at the top of the video, my jaw was on the floor. Amazing tone from that beast! Very subtle wah wah too! (I think!) Enjoy!!!!
at 2:43 little play through it sounded like a Strat. Man that thing is beautiful.
Tim,
I was hoping Paul was going to talk about the gorgeous inlayed guitar he was holding! Talk about a work of art.
The prs channel has a video about it!
@@JoshuaC923 thanks Joshua
Tim could play a 2x4 with an old chain and it would be incredible... I’m not sure how many times I can be blown away by the musical creativity, mastery and true definition of the word professional. Thanks for letting us “under the hood” on this project!

I love the tone at 6:15....what a sweet guitar and in the hands of a master its just magic ! Hope you had a great 4th Tim
My favorite thing about Tim's videos is that look of happiness on his face while he jams away!
Wow, that is a gorgeous guitar. And I must say, I love the fretboard inlays so much better than the regular birds. Lovely.
Can't get over how sweet it sounds. Paul is a genius.
Two amazing people and a tip of the hat to PRS for giving back to the community in a big way. Two fine gentlemen!
That move starting at 6:52...that's VERY cool and why I didn't know it bothers me. Thanks, Tim!
I think that's gotta be the nicest finish I've ever seen on a PRS. Looks like a vintage faded Burst finish.
Spectacular.
Since now PRS is selling the SE Hollowbody II Piezo, you could work with PRS to make a small batch of Tim Pierce signature guitars, based on this Private Stock. Buy the guitar and get few courses online ;)

OMG! That is the guitar of my dreams! Just when I think I'm done buying guitars, you and Paul drag me back in!
Cant help but smile for about 5 minutes AFTER watching any of Tim videos...
Peace
It is a full hollowbody with a post under the bridge, as Paul explained, not a center block through like a 335.
What is going on with Tim! He is just “after it” lately. He’s just killing on the intro. Fire for days!
Tim and Paul... a match made in heaven!!! Just amazing how much Paul is ALL IN ... ALL THE TIME. Much love and respect for both you guys. Thanks as always Tim for taking us on the journey with you sir!!!!
You didn’t let Paul talk about the guitar he wanted to talk about lol, I’m going to definitely pay for the online class or whatever it is.
Great choices Tim, absolute dream guitar...drool. I wish I had an alarm sounding like Paul knocking on that tonewood. Wake up happy every day.
Congrats Tim on the stellar new guitar! I have three PRS Private Stock instruments. Two that I ordered & a McCarty Graveyard II. That PRS has brought out Tim’s guitar face from hell....👍🏻💪🏻👌🏻🇺🇸
Just got one of these beauties at an auction. Never knew it was built to Mr. Pierce's specs. Thanks Tim!
Congrats on the new PRS guitar Tim!! It’s beautiful!!
Beautiful and great sounding guitar. Congratulations and how cool of PRS to put such care and love into the build for you Tim.
Congrats to your new Custom custom made PRS Tim, it's absolutely beautiful skin and soul, you totally deserve it. Cheers!!
DUDE. THAT. INTRO!!!!!!!!
Best intros ever...dont you think these are an LP in and of itself?
Holy. Hell. Mr. Pierce... you may have the most beautiful looking and sounding guitar. I was always sold on John Mayer’s first guitar for Dead & Co. but my lord that is so amazing. Totally made the right choice by not going solid body. My goodness, I just can’t imagine how happy you are and what it’s like to play. Congrats and well deserved. Much love from Tulsa.
I played Gibsons for years... Recently acquired a core DC 594 and i cant believe how good it is. Im a believer.
Tim, you are on lucky guy and a phenomenal guitarist! I love to watch and hear you play, but, watching you play a PRS is pure magic!!
I love your jam tracks so much Tim, you always look like you’re having fun no matter what you’re playing.
That riff at 0:23 made me want to practice and put my guitar out on the curb at the same time
So many major chords 😃 someone is very happy with his new guitar!
Not gonna lie . . . that sounds amazing . . . exactly like what I hear in my head when I dream about playing guitar.
The brush birds, the flame, that binding. Almost as great as your playing and attitude. Awesome to see that face, happy camper
The PRS I want is a custom 24-08. With ebony fretboard, bound with birds inlays, plus a pop up tone pot that makes it in phase and out of phase.
Oh my, beautiful guitar, beautiful tone, beautiful playing. Doesn’t get any better than this.
I bought a Artist Package custom 22 new in 2003. Flawless. My favorite guitar.
"Pierce Burst" just name it now because the requests for that color and purfling are going to come non stop now.
Just love how much pleasure Tim gets from playing. It's outrageously infectious!!
You always have such joy in your face when you play, no phony guitar face for you.
Beautiful Tim. Seminar sounds great. Hope they will be able to have it live, again, one day. Signing up now.
Very dynamic guitar. You play soft and it sounds sweet. You dig in and it bites back.
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve been waiting for this ever since you chose the wood. Unbelievable guitar for an unbelievable player. I really like how the brush stroke birds extend under the fret wire to the adjacent fret.
The cleaner tones are killer. I prefer that sound since the tone of the guitar really shines. Great playing as usual, Tim!
that guitar sounds so good it just blows my mind... really!!
The new guitar has an absolutely beautiful tone and you could hear it's character right away!
Can’t even imagine having PRS build my dream guitar. Your a lucky man enjoy it.
Gorgeous guitar! Looking forward to next week's PRS camp / workshop and learning from you and the rest of the faculty.
From 2:21 to 2:56, its treat to the ear, impossible to choose any better notes than what he has played
Tyler is playing my guitar! I’ve seen it in other colors, but not the river blue singlecut semi hollow 594.
I hope your new guitar brings you tremendous joy!! She’s a beauty!! Thanks for sharing!
Not A PRS fan but that sounds really good. It sounds like a fat Strat to me.
A beautiful Private Stock is an understatement. Think I would go with a semi too. I’ve already printed out the order form.
Congrats Tim! Couldn't have happened to a better guy! PRS and Tim Pierce...2 of my favourite guitar related things! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Like
Big, full tele pickups.
He has to be one of the few people in the guitar world who you know wouldn’t just put his name to anything for the sake of a quick $$$buck
I’d even pre-order if that’s what it takes
Hi Tim, congratulations on that dream guitar! On my way to sign up for the class. The world is a personal place and I want to support you guys and the effort, so thank you. I wonder if you could do a lesson on the lead you were playing right before Paul came on. Beautiful! Was coincidentally beginning a PRS hunt and yours certainly is mana for thought... Cheers, Tim. -Greg
This is the most amazing PRS I ever saw. Like the old Ibanez, when they still used nice wood for the back of guitars as well as for the front 😉
I've seen so many high end pretty guitars that don't play or sound much better than a $300 Epiphone. PRS nailed it with that, it sounds amazing Tim.
Thx Tim for your joy and enthusiasm in this weird time.
Who on earth listens to Tim play, and then decides it deserves a thumbs down!??!?
2 guys who are half assed musicians
I believe the correct answer is "morons."
Envy people! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My guess is some of them are for Paul. I don’t understand the Paul hate but it is out there.
Probably someone (cough) trying to sell “authentic” guitars.
Wow Tim what beautiful playing (especially the open OMG) and your right not only does that guitar look incredible it sounds even better (Although I think you and your fingers have A Lot to do with that. Thanks for another great video !!
Holy crap I think that is the best guitar playing I've seen in many many months! Simply Amazing
