- This could be the biggest mosquito you have seen, Not only big , but beneficial, It could be the answer to the mosquito problem. See if you agree.

Now THIS is an invasive species I want
Well then. The only good mosquito is a mosquito that eats other mosquitoes haha.
Nah some mosquitoes just don’t bite and none of the males do. They just drink nectar. Females only drink blood for extra nutrients for their eggs. Scientists are trying to manipulate that so they won’t crave blood anymore… so some are good but they could all be good
Or a mosquito that doesn’t draw blood
The only good bug is a dead bug!
the perfect mosquito, they eat other mosquito larvae when they are still a larvae and when they become adult they rely only on nectars making them pollinators
Plus they actually look cute and pretty!
Admittedly all mosquitos are technically pollinators
Sat and watched in horror until you said they don't bite lol phew
I recently leaned that this Is actually the same kind of Mosquito that's frozen in amber in Jurassic Park
This is the hero we always needed and always deserved.
I've been on an insect/parasite kick lately, it's nice to find a channel from another Queenslander
Hi Block, I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I enjoyed making them.
They are friendly
Some of the mosquitos I saw in the tropics are massive. This was a really interesting video covering a really interesting insects.
Thank you for your comments, You would know how much work goes into these videos, We keep each other going. kevin.
@@queenslandbackyardbugsandb2761 Yeah, I have been getting into setting up aquariums, going to try filming an episode on magaloptera
Saw big noisy mosquito in the house its so noisy.. I go find the source and boom found them a female.. I was gonna squash it but i rarely seen mosquito this big so instead i go google lense oh my googledex xD nice they eat mosquitoes? Good i done release it back outside
Superb work again Kevin! So few people know about these. Thanks so much for your fine efforts to share such interesting and valuable info.
Thank you Denise I appreciate your input *
Big N gorgeous
Thank god… they’re vegetarians..
I want these. I like all mosquitoes. Don’t care what haters say I have them!
Wtf
Very interesting. Thank you.
I have some growing out in a bucket out back. One of them is almost an inch long and is the most beautiful purplish burgundy colour. Huge respect to these animals
Unfortunately I would accidentally smack these good guys because I'm so innately squeamish to the blood suckers
Pay attention to their size. All human blood sucking mosquitoes have more or less similar size. "Good" mosquitoes however are noticeably bigger. Like these giants.
The GOAT of mosquitos
Great stuff
What would happen if the mosquitos harmful to humans started dying out like crazy? On one end there's one less disease vector to worry about, on another it affects the food chain.
Barely tho. Good news is (as far as I know/been told) no animals rely on mosquitos as a primary food source. There'd barely be a dent.
Awesome footage 👍
Sounds good but I’d be hesitant of introducing non native species as a way of controlling mosquitos. History has shown us how it’s backfired in ways we can’t predict
Yes, though it is pretty tempting...
Controlled experiments in labs should be given funding!
Great colors on them. Glad they don't bite!
Speciosus, rutilus, splendens, or really any of those species might be similarly effective? Nice cultivation demo. Found out about toxorhynchites after discovering dozens of little larvae in a water bin
I want to use this bug as a pest repellent but i fear it might also eat my juvenile shrimp which i breed outside my house
Keep making videos most of your content and your voice is addictive
You got a like share and subscribe from me mate 👍
Thank you very much I appreciate that I'm glad you like the video. Kevin.
No way in my Life i though i would come to Love mosquitos... because they kill mosquitos......
Wow finally a species of mosquito that I can respect
What's the largest mosquito species that need human blood?
Thanks for the detailed video :)
Ohhh I think in my family we always called them "Scotch Grey's" for whatever reason, unless that is again a different species
Scotch Greys are a different type of mosquito much smaller than the Elephant mosquito. Thank you for watching. Kevin.
Does Elephant Mosquitoes kill normal Mosquitoes? Would be good considering the normal Mosquitoes are the ones that bite
When they are larvae’s they will eat other harmful mosquitoes larvae
Good afternoon, what is your email, I would like to talk more about Toxorhynchites, and the techniques you used to keep them in captivity
I’ve just captured a Gallinipper over 25mm long looks almost like a hornet with a needle on its rear. In Caloundra Qld.
Thank god I don't live in Australia 😅
I’ve seen these before.
It would be good if we could breed them up and wipe out the the blood sucking ones. thank you for commenting.
Kevin.
What mosquito problem?
Why am i hearing rolf harris.
Anyone elese here because of jurassic park?
Are these the same as crane flies? Im askinh because my family has always called crane flies mosquito eaters or giant mosquito eating mosquitos is this true or are they different?
Looked it in and no, they are a different set of species. Some larva eat aquatic bugs, and most adults don't eat at all but they do eat aphids.
The land larva eat decomposing plants.
@TragoudistrosMPH thank you that's really interesting
I live in Singapore....was taking a dump in the toilet at night when i noticed a mosquito flying around...but it was big...like not the normal size of any mosquitos we have here...when it landed on my toilet door...i could see its long legs spreading showing how big it is...i panicked and just slapped it dead...upon closer look...it has yellow and black stripes..kinda like a bee almost but im sure its not a bee....im not sure asian tiger mosquitos grow that big tho...like it was big...and that why im here😂😂😂...anybody care to clarify on this??
Kala hit use karo ispe 🗿👊
They don't bite humans
Leave it to Australia to have something like this. Another reason why to like and dislike this place
Is it harmful? Today I kill this one...plz reply me
did you even watched the whole video?
Yea and he said they don’t bite
This video is missing one of the most interesting features of the Elephant mosquitoes: the way they lay the eggs. They drop the eggs individually in the water like bombs while flying, and even more, the adult female species larvae's mother to be eaten have never seen before the adult predator, and as soon as they see the Elephant mosquito female, the victim species attack in flight the predator by instinct. Anyway, bombing the water with fertilized eggs always happens among an aerial combat. It is a video with such interesting mother nature wisdom feature in UA-cam.
