Mike disliking this book kind of makes me want to read it.
It's a beautifully written book. I loved it. Yes, it's not an adventure story, but it's much better than most of the crap being put out nowadays.

I read his other buzz worthy book - The Spear Cuts Through Water and could only last 130 pages and DNF’d my first book ever!

Agreed. Did not like. Messy plot lines and just felt derivative. Only thing missing was an AI ship monitor who checks in with all the on boarders. There was a lot in this novel (but not an AI helper.. whaaa). I’m not a fan of genre hopping. I know it’s a thing but it was full on.
I just read this a week ago and probably won’t be reading anymore from this author
