You are recycling petrol and diesel vehicles . This is not something they want. The screws are being turned slowly but surely. Look at the next batch of VED rates.
I had my own 4x4 garage for 12 years mainly dealing in Land Rover and Range Rover, I built my own MOT bay at a cost of £65k but it paid for itself in 5 years and generated plenty of work. My unit was 5000 sq ft. good luck with your future projects if i was closer i would apply for a job with you.
I hope Jordan has watched this.
Look at what you have rather than what you dont have.
When your boss (and landlord) is openly questioning your performance and relevance to his company, maybe time to knuckle down and show your worth.

@mightywatcher5894 have a few words or even a verbal warning that may just shake him up as goin off ill all the time is not fair for other staff as we found out at our place putting more pressure on us to cover shifts ok for abit but then gets a pain haveing to go in on days off

Seems you're a great boss to work for Joe, but I think a lot of the commenters nailed it on the head - too nice! Some people in your workforce get away with murder (so to speak), I sometimes watch these videos and think "man, if that was me at work I'd get sacked" 😂

I love the weekly vlog… the drone shots are a great addition. I agree Jordon is taking the Mickey but cringed a little cause that’s a private employer/employee conversation isn’t it? Have to be careful in this tribunal sue the employer age we live in…. I’m dying for you to find the perfect spot for your mot centre so you can shove it up the garage that shafted you last time. What about that empty garage you took us round a few months back?

I think there’s a few of your staff members that need to up their performance tbh. This is a great video and shows the tough times you can have in January trading and generally dealing with problems. Things will always improve though!

can you not ask to change use and put the MOT centre at the farm?? I enjoy the BM Blog also. When things are going bad for me ALL I have to do is watch SKY news for twenty minutes and everything I am going through is quickly put into prospective.
I love the reality of these videos, I've been in the motor trade for 30 odd years painting cars and doing work for car dealers like yourselves, can relate to your content its a great watch 👍ive just started my channel showing jobs im painting and i work for myself and its a lot of work but im really enjoying what im learning

Wish I was closer to you, I'm a hard-working very reliable, excellent valeter, with very high standards, had my own detailing business for many years and am now struck by hard times so looking to get back to working for someone
I feel your mood of sheer 'fuckitness' coming through loud and clear. Methinks a certain member or two of your workforce should wise up or sidle off to pastures new, as I think I wrote in one of my earlier comments. I can't get it round my head that you can manage and run several business ventures as one. It must be totally mindblowing for you in these difficult economic times. Just think of yourself for a change and stop trying to please everyone at once. Your video is riveting and brings home the 'small' car trader problems in a manner that the man in the street can understand. Keep your spirits up and all the best.

Funny you mention Taco Bell, I looked into that back then, then tried Subway - which is great if you want to hand over £130k, a percentage of your profits and have to run it yourself as the predicted profit is under £20k a year…

Joe, it's not rocket science when it comes to landlords and agents that are pr1cks like that,, invite them down and show them what you have now. As you rightly say they assume every garage is the same. Waste fluids running everywhere, scrap cars and parts piling up, it's out of order and verging on defamation of character.

Hey Joe have you not thought about rejigging your present place and putting a MOT place on your present site could you not build a valeting bay in what you use a scrap yard area and turn the show room into a MOT bay just ideas
While its hard to judge how much space he has looking at the drone footage, it's an idea isn't it.
I suspect Joe wants to mot and mend cars which requires car parking space,which in turn looks tight judging by the drone footage.
@@brianiswrong the potential in that site Is massive he could put a unit up at the back with all he needs MOT repair and valet and a showroom and knock the existing units down then he opens up the space for a massive car area parking for MOTs and customer parking it's a good site just needs some looking at why spend money on a lease or rent Joe has a good plot of land which if done right could earn him a lot of money if it hasn't already but enjoy the content he a really great boss !!

I find it odd, that so many personel can be sustained, by a small car lot. Perhaps I fail to see the bigger picture.
Well, there’s a car sales site, a vehicle transport provider, a service and repair centre, a car buying service and a media company here so it’s a busy little lot!
So... What is it with the MOT centre? Must have missed it- did you hope to open an MOT centre and you got declined or sth?
All explained in Ep22. I was in the process of leasing somewhere but they broke their agreement so I backed out

I had a car back in 1996, a golf GTi I bought brand new. I did 19K in it and it went in for it's second scheduled service. All good BUT when I got home I noticed the clock read 6 miles ie the distance from the dealership to my house!!! It was a digital dash. Don't ask me what they did but I had to drive the car for a further 29K before I could take it for another 10K service! I traded the car in for a BMW at 33K, the car was then almost 5 years old...........................nothing was ever said! Only I knew it had actually done 50K odd.

On our industrial estate in Nottinghamshire when the estate was bought buy new owners about 4 years ago they removed most traders dealing with and repairing cars. Even someone operating a car wash that had been there for many years. It does appear that car traders are finding it very difficult to find premises.

Loving the weekly update videos, Joe (and Toby) I purchased my first car in 1982 and therefore had my fair share of 'dodgy used car dealer' experiences. However, watching your channel is honestly starting to change my opinion of them - as you appear to genuinely care about your customers and the service you offer. There will always be the few odd ones that you will NEVER please no matter what you do - but just continue to be transparent in all you do and your business will thrive.👍
