    I am very happy with my polysequencer sir. Had some trouble initially with a power source, but I realized all of a sudden I could use my arduino megababy dc power supply! Now I can have my korg xl playing pads along with the rest of my midi hardware without worrying about dropped notes from a DAW. Thank you very much!!

      Awesome! Thank you so much! Yes, the power source can be a trouble since the center negatives are so popular. Thanks and I hope the poly becomes an integral piece of equipment for you! Take care!

    • @spacebraincircuits1358

      Sure, basically while you are in recording mode, you just press the rec | rest button. This skips the current step and moves to the next. Its very intuitive! thanks!

    I like it. But would like it even more if the switches weren't made as such, that it doesn't allow good custom cases to fit. The thing with 'naked' printboard hardware is that some love to use it in certain environments like onstage. Having a rigged case protects it, and makes it look cool too.
    Teen engineering for example does this, and made it possible for everyone to customize their own cases around it. With this device it will be not as easy to make something without altering the original device. The switches are an issue. Maybe advice for the next hardware.
    But to end positively, I really like the way this is going.

    This looks interesting, I like the small form factor.
    Can you record on multiple channels?
    Record/output on MIDI channel 1, then overdub/output on MIDI channel 2, without disturbing channel 1, etc.
    What is max polyphony? I see it is 5 notes per step.
    Is there a manual the describes the different features/switches, and how to use them?
    Best wishes for your success with this.

      Hi Thanks for your question! This device only runs on midi channel 1. Ive had others ask me to expand midi channels, but in an effort to keep it affordable and simple, ive decided to leave it as a one channel device. The idea being it would be easy to daisy chain multiple polys together to achieve the same affect. :) Yes, 5 notes max with 1 velocity and 1 CC change per step! Really appreciate your questions!

    Can you use this to record in real time rather than by step? I'm thinking you could probably do it by using the override mode on a blank sequence as the clock is running. If that's so, I'll get one!

    • @spacebraincircuits1358
      @spacebraincircuits1358  3 роки тому

      You are spot on. Theres actually a quick functions to generate a blank sequence of 64 or 128 steps. Then you can simply play over the blank sequence in override mode. Thanks for your interest!

    If youre sending a gate in does each gate advance the sequence a single step? Does the gate need to be consistent (I think volcas put out 2ppq or 4ppq?)?
    Could the gate sent to this sequencer be playing a pattern that isn't straight 8th notes, for example: a pattern of two eighth notes followed by a single quarter note, with each gate advancing the sequence a single step? Or trigger a gate manually by hand and run through the sequence that way (with somewhat arbitrary timing)?
    I understand you could achive different rhythms using rests, but what I'm after is using the gates from a gate sequencer as the rhythm for the sequence.

    • @spacebraincircuits1358
      @spacebraincircuits1358  Рік тому

      Yea cool idea. So Essentially the poly will increment on each pulse. So yes, you should be able to increment sequences with different patterns. Hope I'm understanding correctly!

    • @complaintdept
      @complaintdept Рік тому +1

      @@spacebraincircuits1358 I believe you are. It seems most midi sequencers try to calculate the average bpm, instead of simply firing the next note(s) in the sequence. Keystep is this way.
      However, the OB6 has a built in sequencer that I love using paired w/ eurorack drum sequencer (I use Bastl Knit Rider). When set to "trigger in" the OB6 advances exactly 1 step for every gate it gets. I will sequence a few chords or a random melody on the OB6, plug a gate output from Knit Rider in the the "seq in" jack on the OB6 then punch in a rhythm. End up with a lot of happy accidents shifting the timing of the gates around, plenty of opportunities for interesting polyrhythms etc etc. Really enjoyable workflow.
      I'm in search of this exact functionality in either a standalone module or eurorack to control more midi synthesizers. Feel like it really bridges the gap between midi capable polysynths and eurorack. My dream is a eurorack module with 2 to 4 channels of this, but with each channel having a separate gate in, so you could have multiple midi sequences running with the rhythm of each determined by the gates you send it.
      Anyways, sorry I know that's long winded... but it sounds like this might just be what I need. Are you going to make more at any point? Looks like they're sold out. I'm definitely interested if you do!

    • @spacebraincircuits1358
      @spacebraincircuits1358  Рік тому

      @@complaintdept Interesting you say that. So the poly actually does a little bit of timing calculations. Essentially it's always wondering what note you are closest to timewise. This is helpful for override mode which is the ability to record over your running sequence. This way, the poly knows where to put each new note in the sequence. Essentially quantizing. You may find some interesting behaviour if you are attempting to override a sequence while it is playing but other than that I think it should be fine!
      Yes, we have inventory of parts, they are just not made yet. Shoot me a message on Etsy and we will let you know once they are back in stock.

    • @spacebraincircuits1358
      @spacebraincircuits1358  3 роки тому

      Hi David, yes this sequencer should work fine. There are a few adjustments you would need to make depending on how you plan to use it. A typical scenario of a midi controller - poly sequencer - kenton prophet will work out of the box. Thanks!!

    I’m super interested in getting this device but I want to make sure I understand how it works. Is there any way to transpose recorded sequences while they are playing? I’m not seeing that as a feature here. Thanks for any help!

    • @spacebraincircuits1358
      @spacebraincircuits1358  5 місяців тому

      Hey! Thanks for the question! No, the device does not work in this way. Instead of transposing when pressing a key, the unit will either overwrite the current played step so that it is repeated or temporarily override the current step. Hope this makes sense!!!
