    Just sharing how I installed 12v batteries in my Yamaha G19 (G19e) golf cart instead of the recommended 8v batteries. It will work, as long as you unsure you are using deep cycle batteries.

    I went the opposite direction and crammed 8 6v golf cart batteries in our G19. My boss messed up and got 6 6v instead of the 8v. So I bought 2 more 6v to make it 48v again. Had to cut and reweld the brackets but now this thing will go probably all week without needing to be plugged in.

    It's a good video but my experience has been different. I have an old EZGO 36 volt cart that a neighbor gave me. The batteries were trash. I bought three 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries at Walmart and installed them. They work okay at full charge. But I have a hilly property and they get depleted rapidly on the hills. Oddly, they never hold a full charge overnight and even when you charge them in the morning the charger won't push them high enough to go up and down my hills. Once you run them down a bit the charger will take them up all the way again. I've tried three different golf cart chargers and a couple of 12 volt chargers working separately. Maybe a 48 volt system is more rigorous and there's a wider margin of error. Maybe if the land you're navigating is flat this solution will work. Maybe if you ganged up three more batteries in parallel (giving you six) you'd have enough amperage to overcome the problem. But in my case the 12 volt deep cycle experiment is a failure.

    what you buy from walmart or costco is not the same as trojan or us battery ... if you cant them to last 10 years and be way better just go lithium and do the conversion .. and if not then get the best brand battery when going 12 volt deep cycle. There is heavy duty and extra heavy ... i went extra duty again at 255 bucks a batter 1100 bucks pretty much. It does hurt the pocket book but in a Gas powered side by side at 20 dollars a month (modest number and gas is expensive ) X times 12 months is 240 a year x 6 years is 1440 dollars not including oil or other maintence. So really You could spend alot more on a gas in the years . just hide 20 bucks a month and in 6 years you can pay for those batterys .

    Great video, I'm going to go with Costco group 24 or 27. I will decide once I have had a chance to check measurements. I think 48 volt carts have 24 volt lights? So how do I change the headlights connection? Thanks

    • @markbenson8675

      I switched mine over to Costco deep cycle group 24, they fit perfect, no alteration needed. Took about 20 minutes to install new batteries. I did blow out the head lights. So I ordered a 48 volt to 12 volt converter from Amazon.ca about $20

    I'm seeking info for pairing correctly sized deep cycle batteries to my 500 watt motors for building an RC lawn mower. Do you have, or can you point me in the right direction to learn that? I recently learned MCA isn't wat's in the battery, but rather what it can do over time.

    My golf cart has six 6v batteries (36v) that need replacement.
    What about three Costco deep cycle 12v batteries for replacement?
    My cart does not have lights or any other electrical stuff on it.
    I’m seeing prices from $100 per 6v golf cart battery here in California.

      You could take 6 batteries (all 12V deep cycle car batteries) run 3 in series, run the other 3 in series.
      That'll give you 36V for each set.
      Now run those 2 sets in parallel and it'll double your run time, and output voltage is still 36V.

    I know these have to be deep cycle and I'm looking at options - I've so far learned that batteries are shown by "GROUP" size batteries (Group 24 and 27 are fairly common). Would you know if these are Group 24 batteries. Should be on the battery somewhere. For my cart, they can't be longer than 10 1/2 inches (or 26.6 centimeters). If not a group size, would you have the model number? Could you possible check on that. I would appreciate it. It was recommended to me by a golf cart company to use Group 31 batteries, but they are too long and won't fit. THX

    • @lickmigooch6108
      @lickmigooch6108 3 роки тому

      Group 24 batteries are 10.25 inches so they’d fit. Just a smaller battery so you’ll get less mileage out of it. 24DC at Walmart is the cheapest and the same battery as anywhere else, just rebranded.
