For an all martials game (all fighters, all barbarians, all rangers etc.) it would be an absolute must to start when everyone gets their subclass.
Oh true! Starting at level 1 for those classes wouldn't be as distinct
This can definitely be fun.
One of my all time favorite games is Ars Magica, where everyone plays a wizard. Those wizards are profoundly different, though.
I tend to play classless systems, like Basic Roleplaying, where it can be a bit easier to do something like this, because you simply focus on skills that work, while building characters around a central theme, like "a mercenary corps," "a thieves guild," or "investigating scholars." You might all play "thieves/rogues," but you could have someone who specializes in lying & persuasion skills, another who might be great at sneaking & climbing, and another who might be a fantastic assassin. Heck, you might even have one who is a magic caster.
Hadn't heard of Ars Magica before, adding it to my list of games to look into!
@@Roll4Initiative supposedly Atlas Games is going to be putting out an updated version of Ars Magica 5th Ed later this(?) year. Cleaned up, clarified & with new art. I believe it's the 20th anniversary of its 5th Ed.
I’ve always wanted to play a one shot with all one class
I've never tried it but it does sound like fun. The shenanigans you could get into with an all druid or bard party.... For some reason I'm imagining Woodstock right now 😂 I think that an all fighter/barbarian game could be fun for a oneshot/twoshot, but maybe not a longer campaign. Thank you for the video! 😄
OMG! Woodstock with druids would be so much fun!
Haven't played an "All Class" party, but currently in an "All Dwarf" game...
Our unofficial theme songs frequently come from Wind Rose...and Yogscast!
"♪ I am a dwarf and Im digging a hole!
Diggy, diggy hole... Diggy, diggy hole! ♪"
One ancestry parties is an idea I hadn't really thought of but sounds fun! Gives your characters all one common thread to start with
I dunno what campaigns would be appropriate, but I've thought playing all psyionics sounds sooooo much fun
What Cypher strongly suggest is not having repeating foci, and a focus is more equivalent to a subclass in 5e terms than to a class. In Cypher is not only fine but expected to have multiple characters of the same type (the equivalent of 5e class)
Foci, that's the term I was thinking of. You are correct! My brain was just having a hard time remembering the term in the moment
