    Thank you for this video, I haven't shot my 1911 in over 5 years, I totally forgot how to disassemble it, thank you for the clear explanation

    I have the stainless steel version of this with no desert eagle logo on the slide. It is a model MR1911GSS and purchased in 2021. I asked Magnum Research a couple of questions after purchase. They said it is a desert eagle still but they can not put the logo on the slide anymore due to the ATF telling them they could not because it is on the 50 AE, 44 magnum and 357 magnum desert eagle models. Also the 1911’s with part MR1911 uses a different sight cut which is novak, the older models sight cut is kahr spec sight cut. I installed a novak dawson precision adjustable rear sight on it which worked out well except I could not tighten down the two set screws. It is a tight fit and I used loctite #243 so I am confident it will not move. I also purchased a dawson precision novak fiber optic front sight but have not installed it yet (just received a few days ago). Was getting intermittent failure to ejects after 100 flawless rounds. Magnum Research replaced the extractor and tensioned. I just got it back yesterday, turn around time from the time that I sent fedex to the time it was returned was under 7 days which I thought was pretty incredible.

    Excellent take down and reconstruction. One comment: @08:00 I was always taught the open end of the guide rod spring went towards the front with the closed end towards the guide rod. Just an observation.

      Thank you I have learned much since making that video and worked on hundreds or 1911's and other firearms. Always improving

    I've been looking for night sights for these and I've read many places the Slanted Kimber meprolight sights will work... Well I bought them and they don't work. They are a different angle, and if you try to file the correct angle you will have taken off to much and they are not going to fit... however I have several Kimbers so at least they weren't a waste of money to me

      I have one. You won't regret it. The finish is different now, the wood grips have been replaced with some nice G10 grips and the sights are now 3-dot style. Nice.

    have done this step by step pausing as i go, and i can NOT get the bushing to go in or turn like yours does....have to stop and look for silver cap again,my ruger sr1911 was never this hard, thhe bushing wont even go into gun unless the cap is depressed, and then its almost impossible to turn

    • @KleckerTactical
      @KleckerTactical  Місяць тому +1

      I would make sure that the bushing is turned the correct way before trying to turn it. It will only go 1 way to come out and sometimes only allow the spring cap to go past went turned 1 way. Not always the case but have seen it before. Also try the bushing in the slide wit the slide separate from the frame to ensure it's turning properly.

      @@KleckerTactical I got it !!! i dont know if they went to a heavyer spring or what, but mine is a new gun and while i love it, i will never understand why they used a open ended cap for the spring...makes it much harder to try and push on.

    Does anyone know where I can find parts? Specifically a recoil spring for the 3" undercover model.

    I have a Magnum Research Desert Eagle 1911C (not G). Different disassembly than yours. You should update the video specifying a G model

      Big letter "G" on the slide. Also, it's in the intro, beginning at 0:13.

      @@a.greywolfe4056 So they pulled the three year old video and re-recorded it with a Desert Eagle 1911 that now has a "G" engraved on the side. Got it. Thanks.
