Been using photosynthesis 1.1 and loving it. Just figured out how to get version 1.2 working in fl studio after spending an hour in plugdata trying to get output to link lol ( note to self: always read the readme). Can this be combined with photosynthesis, so your sparkles in photosynthesis trigger midi notes in whatever key photosynthesis sparkles are in?
Always take a look at the readme file haha. Anyway, I'm glad you like photosynthesis! Yes of course, you can use photosynthesis as trigger source to play random midi notes (in the same scale) on a different synth :) I plan to further develop the peaksToMidi patch and turn it into a full plugin, so feel free to suggest new/additional features!
Hey Aldo, the plugdata patch I created generates a random MIDI note for every peak above a certain threshold. At 4:37, I used an A minor piano recording as the source for peak detection. Then, I filtered the resulting random MIDI sequence to fit the same musical scale, and sent it to SurgeXT. Added some delay, a lush reverb and voilà :)
@@SoundCodex Ok, thanks, I dreamed of something that converts the audio spectrum into midi notes. It would be about detecting and extracting the prevalent harmonic components. Maybe there could be some other approach. There are already good converters for voice or single instruments to midi but nothing that starts from the entire harmonic spectrum. Anyway, you got an interesting result with your peak detector. ciao
@@AldoFurioso Well that's actually a really good idea. I should develop such a plugin! Not only to convert peaks into midi notes but also to extract the pitch and tune the midi notes depending on the input spectrum/pitch. I'll think about it, grazie :)

Hi, I don't understand how you went from peak trigger to notes. Is the sequence of notes random? Thanks

@@SoundCodex Amazing!
