@@officialswanii 16:22 Now you realise why we told you back then that Vinland Saga is definitely at par if not better than AoT in terms of philosophy at the very least. It’s just …….sublime. No other word comes to my mind. 18:20 Barely out of his teens and Thorfinn’s already a Viking legend lol. Next episode is as good as this one. Another full circle moment awaiting you. ;) Keep up the good work!
The pacing in this show is incredible and very daring. To dedicate an entire season to developing your MC takes guts, and my god, was it executed PERFECTLY.
I couldn’t agree more coolgame, I love how about a third of the way through this season he has his dream and has his epiphany and struggling with emptiness up until then. To have the next third of the season of the show be about self reflection and how to apply it to his new found philosophy to his life. And the last third of the season be about executing it and practicing it showing that it’s the ultimate way to live. Truly a masterful and gutsy way and you’re right, oh my god, they’ve done it 🙌🏼
Factssss man, my man Thorfinn really went to hell and back and had the answer the whole time. But the journey wasn’t wasted because he’s become a better man than he ever could’ve been
"I can't hit someone when I'm trying to negotiate for peace" That was the part that stuck with me the most when I watched this episode. It's cool that you understood the weight of that line, it's about walking the walk. This season is truly peak anime.
Fun Fact: King Canute trying to stop the waves is a real thing that happened in history. King Canute brought a throne to a beach, claimed his power and commanded the tides to stop. When the tides washed over his feet and throne, he explained it was God who controls the tides to show that even him as king is powerless compared to God.
Youre definitely my favorite reactor. You "get" things in anime, you can put words together and situations and intentions in anime "click" for you as soon as you hear them. Youre great at theorizing and are able to "understand" in an anime what could happen in the future from certain events, conversations, inner dialouges, etc.. Another addition is the way you also show emotion when reacting which is definitely an amplifier of enjoyment in watching a reaction. Some reactors dont pick up on certain clues, situations, that should be noticed which makes me mad/sad because they miss out on so many cool facts/details aswell as the story itself. You pick up on a lot of things, different perspectives, different intentions, most importantly dialogue and I really enjoy this type of reacting. Only thing I don't like in your reactions is the fact you upload so few of them :) My recommendation for an Anime would be One Punch Man, for the following reasons: - amazing animation - it is hilarious! - amazing character design, interesting backstories - and ironically, very cool fights (one of my favorites out of many anime) it is definitely the anime i'd recommend if you looked for something " really cool" and i feel like that would be an enjoyable change from this emotional rollercoaster we call Vinland Saga :D Please keep doing what youre doing ( and react more frequently please :D )

Alright, here goes! Long time watcher, first time commenter here. I made a crazy connection between Canute and Olmar in these last couple episodes when I was rewatching Vinland Saga, and it all comes back to something Leif said at the very start of the show. I've always seen Ketil as "kind" but lacking the strength to enforce his kindness (shown in s2e7 when he feels bad for the kids but ultimately gives in to the pressure of his subordinates and punishes them as thieves regardless of his own feelings) and Thorgil as "strong" but lacking the kindness to guide his strength. Olmar then, in my eyes, was a representation of the common fool. But I knew this analysis was incomplete, because I wasn't sure where to place Snake who could be seen as both strong and kind. Thorfinn even admits himself, "He's a kind and principled man." This is true, but there's still something missing, something different, that results in Snake taking revenge on Gardar while Thorfinn fights to defend him. It was only after watching everything again that it all clicked. In the very first episode Leif says, "The battlefield isn't the only place where warriors are found. Sailors fight against the sea. They're amazing." At the time it has a literal meaning, but in this episode you see Canute commanding the waves, and I refuse to believe the connection I make here is unintentional. A sailor is like a warrior because fighting the waves is a metaphor for fighting the flow of the world. Therefore, a true warrior is "strong", "kind" and "fights the waves". Olmar actually displayed this quality of fighting the waves last episode when he stood up against Thorgil by choosing to surrender, proving that even someone so seemingly powerless as him can push back against what you might call societal norms.
holy shit, the idea of being a true warrior is someone that fights against the flow of the world is actually pretty beautiful and really connects with a lot of characters journeys. Also explains why Askeladd didn't want to be the king and savior. He actually goes with the flow of time and uses it of his advantages. He knows how unfair and violent the world and uses it to gain strenght, power and survival. So he knew Canute was the kind of person who would break the flow and he knew Thorfinn as Thors son (someone he even suggested becoming his leader) could be that person too.
Ayyy thank you big time Solverk!! That means the world to me, I appreciate you man!! You just made my week! 😮💨 Also I’m gonna need you to drop the gym routine/ workout split because I’m tryna look like you 😤💪🏼

He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Dude, once you finish Vinland saga I seriously recommend an anime called 86, it's story based as well and also 10/10 if you liked Vinland. Of course Vinland is 20/10 🐐
14:41 Peakland Saga!!! “I don’t have any enemies.” This scene is one of the best scenes in all of anime. The moment Thorfinn understood the essence of the words his father gave him when he was young. I want to watch it over and over again. I know that reality is more complicated and difficult than anime, but even so, there is no doubt that anyone in the real world can learn a lot from this anime. To me, Vinland Saga is already a masterpiece on par with Attack on Titan. Although they are completely different works, I feel that they always pose important questions to us and the world.
These last few episodes absolutely changed my life. There is only brightness now in my life. I cannot be more thankful for this anime and story. I only love and I don’t have anymore hate thanks to Thorfinn.
Fun fact, there is a story about the real historical King Canute and the Tide. "The story of King Canute and the tide is an apocryphal anecdote illustrating the piety or humility of King Canute the Great, recorded in the 12th century by Henry of Huntingdon. In the story, Canute demonstrates to his flattering courtiers that he has no control over the elements (the incoming tide), explaining that secular power is vain compared to the supreme power of God. The episode is frequently alluded to in contexts where the futility of "trying to stop the tide" of an inexorable event is pointed out, but usually misrepresenting Canute as believing he had supernatural powers, when Huntingdon's story in fact relates the opposite. " - From Wikipedia
Thors' "You have no enemies" vs Askaladd's "on the battlefield, everyone's your enemy." something like that, I think There are many ppl that believed that they were speaking as if they were complete opposites but they were not. Thors was telling Thorfinn to always seek peace in a world that only hate because there is no future in doing so. But because he was too young, Thorfinn couldn't understand what his father meant. So as harsh Askaladd was to Thorfinn, he taught him the truth of what Thors was saying. As a "warrior" a phrase Askaladd always mocked (Not towards Thors. He really saw him as a true one), death is the only outcome for them. To him, Vikings are blood thirsty murderers that are nothing more than monsters. (Not that he never said he wasn't a monster, he claimed it, but to others, they were in denial of that truth and he mocked them for it.) And on the battlefield, everyone is ur enemy. There is no such thing as friend or love. It's like "today's friend is tomorrows enemy". Although they have different meanings, it can really translate as "the only one that matters is you." This is shown time and time again (Canute's father trying to kill him, Canute killing his brother out of paranoia, Flokie betraying Thors, Askladd's men betraying him, and even Thorfinn was no different) Askaladd did everything that Thors couldn't and this is also the reason "he" apologized in Thorfinn's dream about not being there for him. So now Thorfin who fought understand that he has no enemies.
20:03 What's really interesting is the actual historical Canute was said to have done this, commanding the waves to cease. However it was different historically than in the narrative - historically he was showing the power of God through a sense of devotion - in this narrative he's being defiant - in both cases he's showing the waves are under God's control.
In the next few episodes you’ll see that enduring is simply not the best way to go. You cannot just stand and take blows, because you’ll end up thoroughly beaten and maybe killed. It’s more than enduring. You have to go further than endure, you have to progress. You have to walk forward, and accomplish the goal. You have to improve, you have to make the world better, you have to help others. In other words, simply enduring is staying static.
Hi Swanii!! I wanted to say a few things! First of all, thank you for being who you are and sharing your feelings with me and so many others here! Two things: please consider watching the interview with Sensei Yukimura. Since mangakas are usually reclusive, it's cool to know what goes on in the mind of the creator of this masterpiece. Finally, I would like to suggest that you watch the anime Monster. I'm watching it for the first time and I really like it! If it's not Monster, Death Note is also a great option. Take care! ❤

@@officialswaniiAlways love your reaction big brother ❤ Watching you since AOT S2 reactions, it's always a good treat to sit and have a snack while watching your videos. And yeah, you HAVE TO WATCH MADE IN ABYSS. It's one of those animes which dive deep into character backstory, world building and amazing storyline. People will love it if you do, have a nice day brother.
What a comentary, really appreciate the way you talk about whats happening and understanding the situations. Thanks fot that great reaction keep it up bro. AOT is my favourite anime ever and that wont change. You said you liked this moment from vinland saga more than aot moments. Aot has many of these moments but as you said this hole show was for that one moment so the moment felt much deeper than aot. But aot has many more of these and thats why for me aot is nr 1.
AoT was heavily inspired by Vinland. Isayama basically read Vinland and said “we’ll see about that” and created a scenario where they HAD to fight and defend themselves. Although violence isn’t the way to peace, the people in AoT were in a much different scenario that was perfectly crafted to almost “go against” the message shown in Vinland.
I know a lot of people are comparing VS to AOT, and i am too in some aspects, but the confrontation in each show is completely different in saturation. In AOT it is survival first and foremost. And that created different and more extreme philosophies to live by. Hence the whole "become a monster to defeat a monster"... Which is the equivalent of a conflict being blown out of proportion until you have to fight fire with fire. There almost isn't room for the peaceful, diplomatic resolution, because the conflict is so extreme that it feels nearly impossible, and yet it still pulls through somehow, even though it was mostly thematically. And VS does some things similar with the setting of Viking raiders and living in the fallout of wartime during that age. But it's not as if the stakes are the same. For instance there is no perspective of struggling for survival to create these extreme pov's in the characters. They're just people going with the flow. In AoT it goes from one extreme way of thinking, to another, and it's what the story demands. But yeah, it's as you say; the philosophies feel more real and attainable in VS, compared to AoT, and i think it's because of the different scale of conflicts. To me, Vinland Saga definitely feels more mature overall, more realistic and grounded, compared to AoT. And Vinland definitely handles it's core themes better imo. But AoT is still a show that just HAS IT ALL, and i love it to death. And by "has it all" i mean it scratches every itch i have to an extent, but doesn't do everything perfectly. These two shows have always been my top2, but to be fair they're actually tied for the #1 spot. And then Eighty-Six coming in just a step behind for the top3. My golden trio.
Im gonna say something super cringy, Thorfinn helped me to move on from a lot of things and people I held grudges against. I feel so much better as a human being and i dont suffer mental bullshit. This anime helped me like a therapist lmaoooo
@Shoxbha There’s no better therapy than the truth and I’m so glad you’ve been able to free yourself from that kind of bullshit!! It’s not cringey at all, not only does it take courage but an insurmountable source of strength to do what you’ve done! You are her!! Proud of you Shoxbha and god bless you ❤️🔥
Personally i don't quite agree pacifism is always the right answer. In reality i don't think Thorfinn would've survived 100 punches, but this is anime after all. Though i'll go more into my disagreements when you do a series overview, as i don't want to spoil anything. Regardless Vinland Saga is still among my favorite series, i don't have to agree on everything to like a series. Though my biggest problem is that it never criticizes pacifism. One of the reasons i like AoT more. AoT gives good arguments for pacifism/negotiation, while also cretiquing it and showing the downsides. AoT is a lot more realistic in this aspect, where Vinland Saga relies on being idealistic.
I actually agree with you beast, you make a lot of great points. AOT does do a great job showing both sides and could be seen as more realistic since there’s more aspects of nihilism and the opposing side. And I think certain parts of the show definitely have plot armor due to being idealistic. I actually spoke about this in the discord but to make a long story short, I love Vinland S2 because we’re supposed to view it in the lens of idealism and how you should live. I also think it depends how seriously you take the philosophy. I know maybe 2 people that would actually take the 100 punches and beating and risk death in pursuit of their ideals. And I think the show does a great job showing that there’s only two people (Thors and Thorfinn) that would do the same. But you’re right, for the majority of people this needs to be viewed on how to live and I somewhat disagree with your original statement being that pacifism isn’t always the right answer. Which I guess could be true but I think it’s 95-99% true, it’s not very often you actually need to use violence as we see in Thorfinn. But yeah you’re spittin’! Great comment man!
Working on schedule now, JJK movie 0 will be out on Wednesday And I’m still looking for a the Blu Ray version with Subtitles because they haven’t released it yet so I’m digging!
Not exactly a fan of Re:Zero. Watched the first season (sometimes forcing myself, only a few episodes were good from start to finish), couldn’t have the energy to start the second one. Does it get really better or does it go through more or less at the same pace? Wouldn’t mind watching Re:Zero reactions but I’d rather like to see a few other popular ones on the channel first. :)
Not really. If you actually followed Thorfinn's example, you'd end up getting yourself killed and maybe even the people around you. Many have done exactly like Thorfinn and it rarely ends well.

Thors' "You have no enemies" vs Askaladd's "on the battlefield, everyone's your enemy." something like that, I think
There are many ppl that believed that they were speaking as if they were complete opposites but they were not.
Thorfinn the character that hopefully inspires generations.
Facts frozen, his philosophies and virtues need to be everywhere 😮💨🔥

What's really interesting is the actual historical Canute was said to have done this, commanding the waves to cease.
I think the rest of the series exemplifies that
Take care! ❤
Hey Joapedrobrito!! Man, I seriously appreciate your appreciation, it truly goes a long way! I will absolutely watch the interview with Sensei Yukimura, I’ve gotten a few requests to do that!! I’d also want to pick the brain and see why he’s done what he’s done, you’re right. I’ve gotten a few requests for both Death Note and Monster and I’ll definitely add them to the list! I’ve got my next three anime picked out and daily uploads will be back soon so we’ll be crankin’ through them in no time. Love you man and I appreciate your support big time!! ❤️
Enjoyed this episode again watching with you 😁.....11/10
Ayyyy thank you so much Akashdatta!! This episode was an 11/10 for me as well!! Maybe even 100/10!! Lol it’s SO GOOOOD!! 🔥🔥🔥
@@officialswanii Wow didn't expect you to reply, I'm so happy.
Always love your analysis, the fact that you loved those quotes of Thorfinn made me so happy.
I have a recommendation for you, Please react to "Made in Abyss". I know you'll like it for sure.
Wow thank you so much Akash, I’m glad you like the analysis, that means the world to me! Thorfinn was spitting some big facts and it was AMAZING to witness!
I’ll add Made in Abyss to the list! I’ve gotten a few recommendations for that and I’ll be sure to watch it!! Thanks for such a great comment man!!❤️
@@officialswaniiAlways love your reaction big brother ❤
Watching you since AOT S2 reactions, it's always a good treat to sit and have a snack while watching your videos.
I'm pretty sure the Planetes anime (Yukimura's previous work) is what inspired Isayama to become a mangaka
That's fine. I think that's one of the biggest reasons humans tell stories. So we can learn from them
@@Ash_Wen-li totally. I said the same thing somewhere and someone be like “yOuR sO cOrnY”🤣🤣 i appreciate you for understanding
Thorfinn is genuinely one of the most inspiring modern characters so it’s not corny at all
@Shoxbha There’s no better therapy than the truth and I’m so glad you’ve been able to free yourself from that kind of bullshit!!
Great comment man!
when is jjk 0 movie going to be uploaded

I know you aint making people wait a week for episode 23
Yep, see ya in a week ✌️
"when your brain Tingles", this dude should watch Re:Zero Lol
I’ll be sure to add this one to the list!! 🔥
@@officialswanii very cerebral show like VSS2.
@@MischievalrousSeason 2 is pretty slow paced. If you didn't fully enjoy season 1 I don't see you enjoying season 2.
I don't think it's worth watching for Swanii, but I was reminded of that line lol
AOT is great but VLS solves the problem of conflict Armin couldn't.
Not really. If you actually followed Thorfinn's example, you'd end up getting yourself killed and maybe even the people around you. Many have done exactly like Thorfinn and it rarely ends well.
