Hey, the long ones work for Derek at Vice Grip Garage and he is approaching 2 million subscribers. I would love to see your channel grow to that level and beyond. There must be plenty of classic Aussie cars waiting to be saved by someone like yourself. If you had a channel of that size it would enable you to take on projects that were previously too expensive and probably seemed to be an impossible project. Come on guys and girls, lets get Mick to that first milestone of 100k so we can have a huge Aussie channel saving all those beautiful classic Aussie cars.
@@r8421 mate the places ive bought some of my cheap cars have monaros, falcon coupes , chargers etc etc but its cash stopping us from doing revivals on them , it would be great down the track if we got that big 🍺👍
Imagine the stories that thing could tell, and how many beers were sunk in and around it. What a great workhorse those cars were. Love the fact you're giving them a new life Mick. Well done
Hey mick!. what's that old saying!!! 'That's 2.5 hours of my life I wont get back!'. Mate a month between vids but worth the wait. God love you, just spent 2.5 hours of bliss and several beers (reminiscing). Every concreter/bricklayer I new growing up had one of these (253 v8 4 speed heavy duty clutch) not many 6's. One toner!, yeah! right, they would carry way more plus tow trailers , day in, day out, they were tanks. What a gr8 choice for a survival project. Can't wait for your next vid. Cheers gr8 mate
Watching your bloopers at the end always warms my heart, as it makes me realise that I'm not the only bloke that cracks the shits when confronted with a frozen, snapped or threaded bolt or a stuck piece of interior trim etc. My missus says she always knows when I'm working on one of my vehicles as she can hear me from the house loudly yelling curses and profanities and hurling stuff around the garage in frustration. Gotta have a good vent though to clear the head first, so that you can step back for a moment to collect yourself and then work through the problem to find a solution eh!
Awesome video Mick, I sat through the whole 2 and a half hours. I love one tonners! And I recently just got out of the concrete industry, doing house slabs. Few of the old boys would talk about how these machines would haul crush rock, bags of rapid set, small sheets of steel reinforcement and tools on the back of em' in the 70's and 80's. Thommo was definitely a real work horse and he shows his character. Would be good to see a few more videos on him. I wish I could own a tonner like that, except I'd have a tough little 253 in her! Good onya Mick!
That's spot on. I haven't worked on cars in about 20 years, but this brought it all back. A good, wholesome pastime that deserves a cold beer in the arvo with your best mate.
Love it, as a owner of a HZ tonner daily driver for my handyman business, currently doing 50 klms per day, all maintenance for the last 6 years all done by myself

Hey Mick, when you have finished with this one you will have to give it to me. After all it has my name on the doors and yes I have been known as "Tommo" all my life (63yo now). On a side note- I live in the central west NSW and I have seen this tonner in Gulgong and at times in Mudgee in the past while travelling about working, I even have a photo of it somewhere taken probably in the mid "90's when I first saw it, had to- my name and all. Had a look for it but can't find it as yet, I'll let you know if I find it but not holding my breath.
Love the bloopers 😂, makes me think about a couple of times changing engines, 😂 great job, it's looking great, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones

How the hell do you keep finding things I owned or had dealings with? My HZ 1 tonner has now gone to God but it was a 6 cylinder auto and I blew it up because it was so low geared and didn't like highways. Aluminium tray (with sides off) was the best work bench. Great to see you back, Mick.
What a brilliant episode. Great result too. Un-killable 202. Originally I thought it might have been a 179 or 173, although by '79 they would have phased them out. The bumper is wrong for the ute. They were solid and rounded end to end. Love your work.
Nah, everyone prefers the upgrade to a sedan bumper. The old tonner bumper was more prone to bending than the sedan one which looks better. Just need to relocate the blinkers into the bar and the upgrade will be complete.

Great work Mick. This brought back a lot of memories as my Old Man had same model One Tonner as a workhorse for his Bricklaying Business. His was a 202 with 4 on the Floor. I worked with him for 15 years and drove it numerous times. Funny thing was, the 4 speed had a problem with the selector and used to get stuck in reverse and 1st gear at the same time. But, as I said before from my Army Drill Sergeant, “It’s only a thing. You can’t let the thing beat you, you gotta be smarter than the thing”. Keep up the good work, My Friend.
Great video! Great camera work! Its a shame we Australians over complicated our car industry (2 save some polar bears) when these 70's vehicles could be repaired serviced in our sheds!
Bought a decent 79 hz 1 tonner in 2020 and used it as a daily till 2022, never owned an old car before that, was a unique experience, no problems except for in wet weather, liked to fishtail if you didn't feather the accelerator lol. ute things.
G'day, An awesome video. Tomo has certainly come a long way in just a few days. He was just wasting his time in a field now he's got shiny new wheels and he's able to cruise around your driveway. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have planned for Tomo's future. So thanks for sharing Tomo's rebirth ✌️ Peace from Melbourne/Pakenham 3810.
Brings me back to my apprentice days. I did my trade on these cars. Rebuilding the fuel pumps, carbies, and run the hone through the wheel cylinders. Bit of rubber grease and new cups, all good to go.
Great stuff Mick, A grade content, loved every minute. "Thomo" is coming along great 👍. They're a great model the old HZ, I had a 253 V8 '77 wagon, (the first year of HZ), with the " Radial Tuned Suspension", it'd go past everything except a petrol station. Top marks, can't wait for the next instalment, cheers mate!
Another one saved from the scrap heap! These old cars always look great in their finest sunburnt Australian skin. Love the show mate, I’m 2 hours deep (6 stubbies) and gotta say thanks for this awesome content you consistently throw our way. Great video! Great camera work! Its a shame we Australians over complicated our car industry (2 save some polar bears) when these 70's vehicles could be repaired serviced in our sheds!
100% mate🍺🍺👍
Bought a decent 79 hz 1 tonner in 2020 and used it as a daily till 2022, never owned an old car before that, was a unique experience, no problems except for in wet weather, liked to fishtail if you didn't feather the accelerator lol. ute things.
Tonners are sweet hahah🍺🍺👍
G'day,
An awesome video.
Cheers mate i appreciate ya saying🍺🍺👍
Brings me back to my apprentice days. I did my trade on these cars. Rebuilding the fuel pumps, carbies, and run the hone through the wheel cylinders. Bit of rubber grease and new cups, all good to go.
100% 🍺🍺👍
You go alright Mick 👍 another great job 🍻

Great stuff Mick, A grade content, loved every minute. "Thomo" is coming along great 👍. They're a great model the old HZ, I had a 253 V8 '77 wagon, (the first year of HZ), with the " Radial Tuned Suspension", it'd go past everything except a petrol station. Top marks, can't wait for the next instalment, cheers mate!
Cheers mate🍺🍺👍

Another one saved from the scrap heap! These old cars always look great in their finest sunburnt Australian skin. Love the show mate, I’m 2 hours deep (6 stubbies) and gotta say thanks for this awesome content you consistently throw our way. Easily my favourite garage show on YT run out of a backshed in the bush❤

Welcome back mate i appreciate ya watchin , yep those birds do my head in every summer hahahha🍺🍺👍
Looks like you had a whole bale of hay in that front fender, I love your persistance and determination to get these classics to run, you always seem to have a plan B and C. Do you have a job or is this it because you seem to spend an awful lot of time on the cars? Late in the video even the stereo was coming to life....🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙🚙
Mate i work full time like every other Joe average , i just squeeze cars and the TUBE in where i can 🍺🍺👍
"I'll tell you what I won't find in here.... My dignity". Classic Mick. I'm still laughing at that a day later.

Love it bro. Keep the vids coming. I cant wait to see this completed
Cheers mate ive got a bit coming on tommo soon🍺🍺👍
Very cool, from crap to way less crap, i like where it's going, its a cool ute, new grill would be cool and get rid of them ugly indicators. Whatever ya do, it's cool.
Hahaha i like it , crap to way less crap . Sounds like a new backshed sticker hahhah🍺🍺👍
