  • Connected arms golf swing is one of the most misunderstood golf swing instruction information out there. Most golfers take it too far and clamp in and keep arms in the golf swing connected. But it limits width in the golf swing as well as tempo and the golf swing sequence. Making it hard for a senior golf swing or a non flexible golfer to get the rotation and moves one needs.
But in this video Alex Fortey form The Art of Simple Golf shows you a connection drill for the golf swing that gives your the perfect blend of upper arm connection and enable a wide, smooth golf swing to deliver effortless power and consistency.
The key is to apply connection in the upper arms and upper chest, but not too much!
That's golf in a nutshell.. it's a fine line and if you get it wrong, won't hit consistent iron shots or hit longer and straighter drives without forcing it.
Likewise, if you are just trying to get wide in your golf swing and you lift the arms in the swing up or out, your swing sequence will suffer and you will swing too long and collapse at the top of the backswing and also have a early cast and lose golf swing speed.
So we need to have a golf swing that blends the connection of arms in the golf swing and a wide more to give effortless power.
All you need do is see the connection drill for the golf swing with 2 tee pegs.
    It's very simple.

this is a great video. I always struggle with the concept of staying connected, while having width in the backswing. Will try this drill this evening on the driving range. Many thanks!

Brilliant as usual. I especially liked the up angle shot defining the UPPER arm connection.

Great tee tip I’m sure it will help with my Consistency and ball striking. I’ve been trying to fall into my shots and it’s working great but I’m not quite there and I do struggle with staying connected thanks again for another great video

Nailed it, just he video I've been looking for, tried moving to a longer swing, sort of mimicking John Daily at least in my head but seeing your example I think that's where I'm stuck. Will say when I make contact its a little more effortless but its hardly consistent and lacks the tempo. Appreciate the video...nothing else, I'll try bowling...I hear the ball comes back to you...

      No need for bowling yet:)

Excellent display Alex of widening the backswing and staying properly connected. I've been trying to do this in my swing and now with your points in mind, I will have more relevancy to work on.

Yes. On the course, if I’m getting disconnected I use the old trick of “gathering” my shirt into small folds under the arm pits and not letting them unfold either on the way back or through

Alex, is this any different than the ‘towel under the armpits’ drill? For the rest : great video (as always) :)

Yes as it allows more freedom. The swing is more than rotate and rotate as it were

Connected works for pitch and chip shots, not full shots which require freedom of movement

A little goes a long way on the full swing. Too many over do it

How important is the left arm. Seems like you are really keeping it very straight. If so, doesn’t that create tension?

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  2 роки тому +1

Very little tension. It's just straight as you see because of the width created with right arm
