    This was a very challenging, but also very fun build. Since I don't own an airbrush (I intend to get one at a later time, maybe next year?) I think this is a perfect way to give your kit that special individual look. I'm tempted to try it the MG Unicorn that I have. A bit more manga style maybe?
    Thanks for checking out the vide :)

    Might honestly be one of the best cel-shaded gunpla I've seen. You've inspired me to try to do this with one of mine!

      Thank you :) Which one are you picking for yours? I might do either a MG Destiny or MG Unicorn next with this style.

      @@GiantRobolove I look forward to seeing the results! I might try it on a non-grade 1/100 Dynames that I haven't built yet.. Not sure. I've never hand-painted a model before so I'll probably start with something cheaper.

      Good luck with the painting. If you happen to have spare parts laying around, use them for practice. That's a good way to get a feel for the brush and the color. However it turns out, you will feel very accomplished afterwards :)

    It's great to see the good & the bad & how one approaches unforseen problems, because that issue may teach more than the rest of the video itself some times(even if accidental). The final result looks great!

    Great video- I liked your basic explanation of the process but would love to see an in-depth tutorial from you. Your style and pace are very enjoyable to watch. Thanks!

      Maybe the other video I made about manga style might help in some regards? Either way, I will keep that in mind and in the future I might try another anime style kit with a more indepth explanation. Thanks for letting me know.

    thanks for sharing, it's a very interesting technique, and you can't find videos on the net that give an idea how to practice it . :)

    • @GiantRobolove
      @GiantRobolove  3 роки тому +1

      I'm glad you were able to take something away from it. With the next one I might talk a bit more indepth about the technique. This time around everything was still new to me. So next time will be more detailed I guess.

    Really nice looking end result. It’s too bad about the broken hip joint! I can feel the pain from that for sure. I’d love to know how you chose how you would paint it as you did. The result would not have made me think it was your first attempt. 🔥

      Thank you! I was looking at lots and lots of reference material. Old 80s mecha anime are perfect for research. Think Five Star Stories, Macross and of course old Gundam shows like War in the Pocket. You could also look for artbooks from that period.

    Can you help me with something? I love this style and would love to try it. I come from tabletop miniatures so this would be first gunpla for me. How you decide on placement and thickness of white highlight lines and black shadow lines? Some call it darkness flow. I understand the concept but I'm missing practical explanation where to place it and how much.

    • @GiantRobolove
      @GiantRobolove  3 роки тому +1

      Hey, thanks a bunch for your comment. The way I did it was to just look at a bunch of old giant robot animes like Gundam, Macross and also Votoms. Votoms is a good reference, because they have a more simple design with bigger limbs and thus surfaces to reflect light on. I can't really give you a step by step guide, a lot was gut feeling. Looking back at the kit now, I probably would've done it a bit differently, especially with the funnels.
      But basically, desice on where you want you light source to be, take a photo of the kit with said light source and go from there. If you move your light source around, you might find spots which reflect light more than others. Use this as a guiding point. I hope this somewhat helps. I plan on doing more kits like this in order to learn more. I'll definitely share my findings with all of you.

    Also why use markers for lines and not paint? Because it's quicker or is there something else?

    • @GiantRobolove
      @GiantRobolove  3 роки тому +1

      Well I'm not as proficient with paint(brushes) as I am with markers. I bet since you come from tabletop miniatures you have the necessary skills to paint it with a brush. I found it rather easy to do it with a marker.

    • @GiantRobolove

      I basically used the same method that I used for the front and at times I just winged it. So it's not 100% accurate 😅
