- The pair of mourning doves can quickly throw together a loose platform of sticks in just a few hours. The construction may be finished in a single morning or spread over a couple of days. Nests are commonly built in shrubs, conifers, and deciduous trees. In the absence of trees, doves will nest on the ground, on building ledges, and even on chimneys. Both parents will take turns incubating the two eggs. The eggs hatch after 14 days. By two weeks old, the young grow significantly and show fluffy feathers. Crop milk is a secretion from the lining of the crop of parent birds (both male and female) that is fed to young birds. They are found among all pigeons and doves where they are referred to as pigeon milk.

I love hearing bird sounds in the background! You can hear some Red Winged Blackbirds! Some warblers too!
The dove sound has been a part of my life since i was a child, they allways nested here, the sound is a part of my soul forever.
She (or he) almost seemed proud to show them off to the human videographer just after they hatched!

It's because she is lying on them and her feathers stick out to the sides and that gives her a chubby appearance.

This is a great video. I just went through this at the end of March and first of April. A dove made her nest in a Blue Spruce by my front door. I avoided the area as much as possible. Every morning, I would crack open the front door and see momma bird sitting on her eggs. Then, one morning I didn't see her no more and I ain't seen her, the babies, or the dad since.

Birds can't even vomit, they regurgitate, plus crop milk is a thing that only a few birds have which are pigeons/dove, penguins, and flamingos.
