STW #92: WWE WrestleMania XIX (19)!

- On this episode: Is WrestleMania 19 the most underrated WrestleMania of all time? It's Brock's first WrestleMania and he's in the main event for the World Title. It's Steve Austin's last WrestleMania and the finale of the Austin-Rock trilogy. It's Shawn Michael's first WrestleMania in five years and he stole the show with Chris Jericho. This is the most "stacked" roster in company history. Jeff Hardy, Batista, Randy Orton, Kevin Nash, Goldberg, and John Cena are all on the roster but not on the show. With this loaded roster, why was business down? The buy-rate was down 36% from 2002 but why? Were fans not ready for Angle-Lesnar in the top spot? Did the Undertaker not have a big enough match? Was Hogan-Vince what people saw as the focal point? Had the Rock-Austin feud lost some of its luster? Of course, that night will mostly be remembered for the Shooting Star Press in the main event. We cover that in great detail including never before heard details of the fallout of that evening for both men and you won't believe it. Plus we examine the unbelievable choices the WWE made regarding the Booker T-Triple H storyline to build to WrestleMania, the silliness of the Miller Lite Cat Fight Girls, Torrie's Playboy, the WWE theme ride in Niagra Falls, why the World finally closed, how Austin and Hogan got along, the Flair-Bischoff fight, the Heyman-Gewirtz fight, Shawn's relationship with Vince, Jeff Hardy's diminishing interest in wrestling, Tommy Dreamer on the writing team, the original plans for John Cena at WrestleMania, Kevin Kelly, more on Nathan Jones, the rise of Benoit and Guerrero, how the plans came together at the last minute for Piper, who was considered for that spot, and the unbelievable stuff we saw Vince McMahon do in his match against Hulk Hogan. But most of all we discuss the unfortunate sendoff of "Stone Cold" as it's the retirement match that nobody knew about.
Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard is an audio podcast that discusses topics, events, wrestlers and memorable moments through the lens of former WWE executive Bruce Prichard co-hosted by Conrad Thompson.
The show was launched in August 2016 on MLW Radio. The episodes typically range from 2 hours to 4 hours in length, and include discussions about previous WWE pay-per-views and former WWE wrestlers.

Thank you kind sir...
Bump
Thanks John. These intros are insufferable
@@elberno4243 Nah they're cool. They have some interesting stories that have never been told anywhere else.
@@johnjandoh6732 glad you enjoy. Each to their own,
I used to listen fully, but the intros got so long and became more self aggrandizing and off topic.
Just my option bud. Maybe "insufferable" was a tad hyperbolic. Maybe "wearisome" is more appropriate. You are correct that occasionally there is a little extra insight, but if a cake baking video takes 9 minutes before mentioning cake.... They lose me. Peace
Man listening to the stories about Brock, Angle, and Austin during WM19 really sobers you on the injuries that wrestling can cause.
Most of them are minor injuries at first. They turn to major injuries caused by not addressing them.
The Booker T/Triple H stuff was a black eye on an otherwise fantastic show. Booker T not going over that night was a mistake. Even if Triple H won the belt back the following month.
Agreed. No matter how much Bruce danced around it, there was no excuse for Booker not winning that night.
+Tim Puckett
But then everyone would have complained that Booket T's champion run was too short by that logic. You really can't please the wrestling fan at the end of the day. Honestly, back then, I wasn't even paying attention to that angle anyway. I was more focused on Brock and Steve Austin.
Tim Puckett u cant say black eye
let's be real, not putting the strap on booker t was a good idea, the belt is supposed to represent some class, like orndorff said, fucking mark henry as your champion? it's ridiculous, so people need to shut up about booker t, his gimmick was a joke, the fucking king booker bullshit, the sucka shit lol please
JHOT247 yet Triple H was handed that title. you can't say Booker didn't deserve it. get outta here
HBK/Jericho was definitely the best match and this was my favorite Wrestlemania ever.
fmthebaron better workrate than 17 and the emergence of the ruthless agression era
robert shelton yeah because the ruthless aggression era was awesome lol.
actually it was. my favorite era by far
aotp36 ahh.. no. It was terrible.
Only a mongoloid would like that match.
Actual show at 09:00. I had to scroll down to find this so thought I'd repost for yall
I don't agree with Conrad that the HBK/Jericho match is underrated. Many people love that match and pick it as the best match of that show. I think Jericho nailed it in his book and I agree with what he wrote.
DyingBeauty1 IT WAS UNDERRATED.... JUST BECAUSE OF THE NOSTALGIA OF VINCE/HULK & ANGLE VS BROCK...
THE JERRICHO/HBK MATCH WAS OVERLOOKED
It's not underrated anymore at least. People love that match and tend to pick it as the best one of that show as time went on. It happens lol.
To be fair this entire show is somewhat overlooked in terms of quality. But I think this match is probably the first one that everyone thinks of when this PPV comes up, except maybe Austin's swan song.
17, 18, 19. The trifecta of good WrestleManias
I can't stand either of the two. Both are severely over-rated in my book.
Such an underrated WrestleMania. Not finished with the show yet, but they definitely could've given Booker the Mania win and and HHH could've regained title a month later just to freshen thing ups. HHH beat everyone those days though. In the long run, Booker T got himself over in spite of some spotty WWE booking.
If anyone cares, the review of the actual show takes place 2 hours and 18 minutes in!
I wish they would put a time stamp for us.
I dont care at all, the whole show was awesome. I dont tune in just for the topic at hand, infact the sidebars are usually more entertaining and informative.
It wouldn't hurt to timestamp.
Ty sir!!!
3:01:20 if you came here to hear about Rock vs Austin
I was there live and I didn’t even care for that match because rock and Austin or played out by this time. I went for Triple h and Booker T.
The Rock did more, in one night, to put Booker over, than Triple H did that entire feud.
Lucas Prether ROCK was actually the person to burry booker the hardest.....
ROCK: "WHO... IN THE BLUE HELL.... ARE YOU....?"
BOOKER: "SUKKA.... MY NAME IS BOOK...."
ROCK: "IT DOSENT MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS"......
THAT KILLED BOOKER
Rock said that to Jericho too in his debut, he said it to everyone.
Lakers fan Booker always had Shane’s help, etc. because he was a heel. That’s chicken shit heel 101. Regarding the promo, while it’s true Booker had already been there for months, The Rock had JUST come back from filming a movie. He missed all of the invasion up until that point, so that was his first time seeing Booker. That makes it the same situation as it was with Jericho. It made sense for Rock to not know who he was.
Some of y’all take this shit too serious. It didn’t matter because If the Rock really wanted to bury him he just wouldn’t have worked with him. That simple.
That's because booker was a transitional opponent to get Triple H more heat since the fans cheered him against Steiner.
Sort of an annoying time in wrestling when HHH was shoved down our throats.
Well it created Orton and it made Batista so suck it up.
The Shooting Star Press was John Laurinaitis's idea.
SOURCE: Brock Lesnar
Deathclutch book
This wrestlemania was underrated in my opinion. Besides the Booker T vs Triple H World Heavyweight Championship match, this card was pretty damn good. It almost felt like to me Triple H was using Booker T to bury WCW even though he worked there as Jean Paul Levesque. They told a great story with Kurt and Brock given the injury that Kurt went through before the match.
I believe that this is debated over first or second overall from what I've seen.
I will never forget being in the 300 section looking up at the video board and seeing Vince’s bloody movie like facial expression coming over the ring apron. One of my favorite parts of the whole show.
Booker T winning the world title would have been overshadowed anyway by Lesnar beating Angle. There's no show without a heel, and HHH played the role perfectly.
Can't wait to see you in NoLa!!! Love the show. The only wrestling podcast I've ever listened to in my life...took me forever to go from beginning to end...Finally close to catching up...Love the show. Thank you for the great stories.
Bruce really trying to defend that triple H promo. Booker got buried. And then the amount of time it took for him to get pinned was the nail in the coffin.
How many times does Bruce have to tell Conrad that not everyone can be on the main card? Conrad can be dense sometimes.
He really refuses to accept logical answers that are not going to change. Yes, Bruce is full of shit sometimes, but he often has a sound answer for something that doesn't match what Conrad wants to hear and we as an audience suffer.
@Lakers fan they never did Wrestlemania 2000
Cause he always has to argue and throw a bitch fit when Bruce answers and he doesnt like the answers
He's a nerd.smart mark what do you expect. I started wrestling in 2006 and now I teach at a big school down south and everyone always makes fun of the marks that still believe that it's real but I'd rather deal with them than smart marks any day of the week. Because so much of the time the smart marksthink they know everything and they still don't know shit. They're fucking obnoxious and they need to just sit in the crowd and fucking shut up. can you imagine if you are a magician and you have people in the crowd just sitting and talking like they know how to do all the tricks even though they only know how to do like 40% of them
Matson G ohhhhh so having Triple H as a main event for 12 months was good business ???
Right no thanks! That’s that title was a joke triple H was given that title, at least on smackdown the WWE champion belt hold value, the Rock, Lesnar, Show, Angle, Hogan, Taker, E Guerrero, Cena, RVD even Bradshaw sold a story on why they held that title
WHC on raw on the other hand was held up by Triple Bitch
I would love to see Bruce Prichard and Solomonster debate about Triple H during this time
Antonius Johnson Prichard would rather speak with that WWE schill Sam Roberts. Solomonster would obliterate Prichard.
Travis... Bruce would dominate a conversation with Solomon. Even though Solomonster would be right and would make great points, he would be shut be down by "you're not in the business you don't know".
@@danieljohnston2379 there is too much content elsewhere
Bruce talks for a living and has more knowledge than solomonster. Prichard wins hands down.
@@mattmoon5300 I hate to admit your correct even though I love Solomonster more
This is by far my favorite episode. Awesome episode guys!
Best wrestlemania ever.
Opinion
So neat to hear Bruce talk about these subject. I love that he's positive and doesn't dump on everything
funny Triple H didn't say people like you to Scott Steiner. Ric Flair is like HHH's hero, but with Flair standing right there, his promo was only about WCW champions being inferior? (so he's insulting his teammate Flair too)
...yeah, makes sense "The Artful Dodger"
theFRIS No he was saying that wcw was inferior in its last few years with people like David and Russo winning the title and Booker T winning the belt by then didn’t mean anything which was true.
theFRIS 100% on point. After this one, I'm done.
Johnny Mac yes that is true, but that's not all that was said. Maybe he also said it to Steiner & Jericho & Benoit and I could have forgotten (I know Jericho wasn't wcw champion)
Just like all over the net I see people in one post claiming something had to have happened cause Bruce mentioned it on his podcast. Then claiming that another thing happened even when Bruce denied it on his show. Bruce is carnie as hell and is always working. It is like how people jumped to conclusions when Conrad's podcast with Flair suddenly ended. Saying that Flair hated Conrad and the two of them were not friends anymore. And now Conrad is married to/about to be married to Flair's daughter.
Some parts of the IWC tends to believe any rumor they hear. And will bend all kinds of ways to prove the rumor is true. Look how many people still believe the Macho Man/Steph rumor. When it makes way more sense that Vince was mad at Macho for leaving when he did and taking the Slim Jim deal with him. But nope "It's cause Macho was banging a teenage Steph. Vince found out and fired him."
It is crap like this why lots of wrestlers still don't think to highly of fans and really really do not like the so called "smart" fans.
What’s funny is that the belt Trips is making fun off is the SAME BELT as the one he has 🤦♂️🤣
I'm a black guy and when I saw the angle between Triple H and Booker T, it did sting a bit with the bit of racial undertone in the promo delivered by Triple H, however, this is not the first time an angle like this was done. In WCW in the early 90s, Ron Simmons/Vader feud after Ron Simmons had won the world title, there was an angle where Ron Simmons was confronted by Vader's manager at the time Harley Race. Harley Race said nearly the same lines that Ric Flair was telling Booker T about being nothing but a chauffeur, bag boy or errand boy dehumanizing him. Bruce Prichard touched on it a little with what Ron Simmons thought of angles like that. I wish he had elaborated more with respect to Ron Simmons. But I understand that he (Bruce Prichard) wasn't working for WCW then.
Would you throw the race card out, like the time when Scott Steiner told Tyson Tomko to "Go get my bags!", not only once but many times in TNA? Asking for a Native American...
I'm a white guy and I was never comfortable with the angle either. They never had to go there and Bruce denying that race had anything to do with it was pathetic. They could have easily made the angle about wcw being less than without making it a black vs white thing. We have enough of that in real life. Wrestling is supposed to be an escape from that crap.
@@Rschr101 You're bringing modern sentiments from now into back then. 2003 wasn't know for racial strife like 2021. Only one year later is when Obama gives his speech in front of the DNC national committee launching his future bid for president while helping that snoozer candidate Kerry afterall.
As not wanting that in wrestling, why not? We're fine with it in all sorts of other programs and frankly if two people are going to be in a grudge match say where they are so angry at each other they want weapons, no holds barred, or a Hell in the Cell then I think I want some reasons the two characters would hate each other enough to want a match like that in the first place. Wrestling is entertainment, wrestlers are actors who play characters and fake fight each other. The Attitude and Ruthless Aggression era still have some very stupid storylines but honestly part of what made the eras good was because suddenly it seemed like there was some good reasons for people to fight each other.
By Conrad's logic we should demonize the non white/not gay Rock for calling SCSA and the fans "trailer park trash" or "redneck" or "fag" and if you really want to take the leftist logic further you can say the entire SCSA vs Rock feud is uncomfortably racist. SCSA looks like Ed Norton in American History X and he bests this poor half black/ half samoan who just wants to be the People's Champ. After all, especially in the 90s, who shaves their head if you're white even if you're going bald? Frasier didn't, Captain Picard didn't, Hulk Hogan/Macho didn't. It was something usually only skinheads did...
Come to think of it didn't SCSA have a confederate flag themed t-shirt in 2004 when he ref'ed for Lesnar and Goldberg? I know there's beer bottles on it with some skulls but it's pretty obvious what he's referencing.
If we actually want to talk about something that's distasteful in entertainment now how about a 400 lb man who's so damn creepy he buys robes off another man for years, then because he's such a weirdo he marries his daughter and becomes a member of his family. Then factor in that this guy pretends to carry a sword of social justice for black people while giving them predatory loans.
What actually hurts the black man more? A jackass big nosed loser who married the bosses daughter and overstayed his welcome about 21 years longer than his career playing a evil bad guy who never fucking lost against anyone almost ever, including the Rock when he was at the height of his wrestling fame, doing a edgy possibly racist promo which WWF had already been doing for years? Or a fatass stalker torturing old wrestling middle managers about what he feels his right because he likes wrestling but he needs to push his shitty brand too? Think Conrad ever lets any of those no credit families off a few years early? Think those interest rates are low?
Fatboy can go to Hell and I don't mind wrestling being edgy. HHH/Booker could have went full bore racial and at least it'd make sense why they are about to beat the hell out of each other. Don't get me wrong I hate HHH , he's a bore and he won WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much against everyone. However you can't make many good adult shows without adult themes afterall and clearly wrestling is better with good story than the spectacle of fake fighting that exists now.
Show starts at 2:20:40
This was in my hometown in Seattle Washington. I went to this event live and I can tell you I did not care for the rock versus Austin match. It’s been done twice at this point to me that was lazy booking, and both of them were on their way out the only match I was really interested in seeing when I purchased my ticket. Was Booker T vs Triple H and I knew that Booker T. wasn’t gonna win. I just know the WWE doesn’t wanna let their golden boy lose the same thing with John Cena a couple years later and even though I’m not a fan of Hulk Hogan never was his match against Vince. McMahon was pretty entertaining but I will admit this wrestlemania didn’t have a lot of good matches. I was there live, and I didn’t really care for any of the matches
This is one of those few occasions where Bruce could easily have said "Yeah, of course it had racist undertones. We were looking for heat. Same way that in 1998, Jeff Jarrett was misogynistic toward women for an angle. Heat".
It was 2003 with the Booker/Triple H thing. It was acceptable to stuff like that for an angle.
Aggravating, uncomfortable and volatile, yes. But still acceptable.
By denying it over and over, Bruce doesn't do himself any favours.
Especially since they did the exact same thing with Randy Orton and Shelton Benjamin months later....
He will ALWAYS tow the line no matter what.
I still think Booker should have won.
Wwf new York was cool as a new Yorker because you can immediately get merchandise and to see smackdown before everyone else in the country but the food was expensive for the time but warm almost cold and bland but the name change did not attract the casual tourist
I can’t believe I was blessed to attend this Wrestlmania! It was awesome. Thank God for WWE.
Thank Vince. Lol
My only problem with the HHH/Booker match. It only took one pedrirge to beat book where as every other main event match used muptile finishing moves. And to say having two faces win the belts guess they forgot eddie and benoit.
dragonbreeder schizo The single Pedigree wasn’t even the problem. It’s the almost 30 seconds Triple H laid there after before he crawled over for the pin.
@@mikeg155 This. Exactly this.
Benoit won the title at Mania 20.......Eddie won the title a month before at No Way Out 04
Eddie and Benoit was the first thing i thought of.
Steph should have posed for playboy, cause I'm sure she would have gotten more buys than tori. I mean this is smackdown gm steph, where she was hot and busty as hell.
John Jandoh I still remember when cena slapped that nice round ass of steph ugghhh
Yes sir with that huge rack hmmmmmm lolol

@@Super122291 Yh. That was a good one. She had a nice apple shaped ass at that time. So damn perfect.
'One is an athlete that we've never seen in professional wrestling before' ... Dr Death Steve Williams and Ron Simmons would like a word with you, Conrad, off the top of my head.
Kurt after the match in the shower must’ve been like the beginning of Rocky V
You could probably say the same about Brock after almost killing himself on that moonsault.
Damn Kurt,Brock and Austin nearly died that night.
@@ronaldcole6101 sobering!
Conrad is a mark...If Booker knew he was losing, what better thing could have happened to his babyface character than what HHH said. It made him sympathetic, made the fans care about him, feel he was done dirty...I'd say HHH did him the biggest favor he could do short of losing. Bottom line: HHH's heat was getting paid off to a bigger babyface...Goldberg. If he's not signed, maybe they go with Booker, but he was signed...
While Bruce was describing the stone cold shit I almost cried too man.
Psandeezy 92 shut up
You can say who does and doesn't deserve the title. Yall telling me book never deserved one face run with the world title? He'll never admit it because book and wwe really do have a good relationship but there's a reason book chose to leave in 08...
Little anecdote about the Nathan Jones bit in the Taker match: On the DVD, Nathan Jones runs down and does his spin kick, everything goes smooth. On the live PPV, which I had on VHS for years, Nathan Jones ran down, stood there in the isle for about 3-4 seconds bouncing before Big Show yells "kick me!" and Nathan clobbers him after a slight hesitation. So that spot on the DVD was tightened up quite a lot, and going back and watching that old VHS (including Jericho giving HBK the finger which was cut on the DVD for some reason), I could totally tell why Jones was taken out of the match.
Not just that, but when undertaker went to pick up a train for the tombstone his knees start to buckle and he starts to bend backwards and he yells out help me! Because a train wasn't posting enough for him and the ended up cutting that out so you can't hear it as well
@@thickerconstrictor9037 Yeah, there was a lot of spot calling on the show that was clipped out. Especially in the main event. Kurt was calling everything so loud. "Throw me!", "Bow & Arrow!", "Two more! (suplexes)"
I think they shouldve added vince vs hbk at WM22 as another one of vince's greatest matches
Stephanie McMahon in Playboy take my money
For real Stephanie in 2003 yes. Have my baby's 🥵😍😵
Is the background video of the fireworks going off for this episode the same one that was used for the 'WWF WrestleMania 4' video?...
I think so, but, I literally don't remember.
I love that Hogan came down to a rendition of Voo Doo Chile instead of the lame “Real American Song!”🔥🔥🔥
Probably one of the best episodes..I like when they last 3 to 4 hours.. It's better than this won in the poll.they don't talk as much of this era .y voted for wrestlemania 24 that was in 2008 I don't remember if the last years of Bruce are talked about at all
I work 2 jobs, full time student AND I STILL somehow listen to S2WW ALL DAY!! Love the show and appreciate the mid 80's-to early 00s topics.
This show was insanely good. There were several matches that could have been the main event of nearly any other PPV. The Undertaker match was disappointing and the less said about the Miller Lite pillow fight the better.
pigs18 Lol But it was better then expected the undertaker match it could have been a lot worse. Taker made the match.
pigs18 i enjoyed the pillow fight sometimes eye candy is what u want to see.
vhs baby, because for some odd reason the wwe doesn't release these fucking old ppvs, like why in 2018 is hard for me to get my hands on a wrestlemania from the 80's or 90s? that's fucking absurd, and if you can find it, it's like $50 or higher
Idk how Conrad is still working with these guys, none of em need him..he needs them
out of the manias ive seen my favs are probably WM 9, WM 10 and WM 20. If 20 had a couple less matches and a better Undertaker vs Kane match it would be number 1 without much thought. It just went on for so damn long.
My child hood favorite wrestler when I first started watching wwf was warrior than Bret than hbk than Rock n Austin than Brock n still Brock lesnaaaaaaaarrrrr!!!!!!!
Great episode, great content, and I love when Bruce sings "With My Baby Tonight" lol
always gets a great pop
Rschr101 that and they seg way into products so smoothly. I laughed my ass off when they talked about Hogan & Austin and longevity, then hair growth products muwahaha
Always wondered how lame and hacky comics draw a crowd...and now I know: it's hardcore wrestling fans who listen to podcasts...
78bcat if you're not a fan... Keep it moving lol (waving bye bye and laughing)
I love when Bruce stops breathing.
After WCW went out of business in 2001 wrestling was never really all that great especially in 2003. It was pretty lame but as a longtime wrestling fan wrestlemania, the biggest event in wrestling came to my hometown of Seattle so I had to go there live but I did not care for any of the cards at this event. The only match that had any interest to me was Triple H vs Booker T and I knew that Booker T was gonna lose it’s no secret that during this time pro wrestling did not want a black world champion the wrestling business is notorious for not having minority wrestlers, holding their world titles it’s different now, but this was 2003. I knew they weren’t gonna let Triple H lose to Booker T. And I did not care to see the rock vs Austin because in 2003 rock was pretty much done with wrestling and going to do movies and Austin was passed his prime and his wrestling career was pretty much over. He wasn’t the same Stone Cold Steve Austin from the late 90s
Think about this guys.,The original plan was supposed to be Austin and triple h.Then Rock vs Goldberg. Then Vince vs bischoff, They gave Austin the rock because Goldberg didn't sign in time, And then they threw booker t at triple h so triple h could bury him,If Austin vs triple h happens, booker is never buried.
Blame Goldberg.
Thank god it worked out the way it did. I dont think I could stomach Triple H beating Austin again.
Alberto Del Fuckbag never drew unlike Eddie and Rey
TheDieHardWWEAddict Eddy Drew
Del Rio couldn't draw flies to a steamy pile of shit
How dare you
TheDieHardWWEAddict He did draw...bruises and scrapes on Paige after he beat her...Alberto sucks.
I'm sure you're right and Bruce is wrong. Lmao hahahahahaha 😂😂😂
9:00 start time
Jesus Conrad you remind me of Ariel Hellwani in this one...
I dont know how Bruce kept cool that entire time,
And no this isnt my first time here lol
But Conrads kinda annoying the last couple.
Bruce is right its 2020 he cant remember every single thing but damn.
Honestly, if you were to go back to that time period, Brock was more over than Booker T. Brock had won a lot of the fans over while Booker T was still fighting for his spot. The fans were starting to get behind Booker but not as a main even guy, not yet anyway. Conrad can cry all he wants to about the "nappy hair" line truth is, being half black and half mexican, I never took any of that seriously. I took it as trash talk in the same way the heels parodied Mexican culture when Eddie was champion. I myself did not want Booker as the "World Champion" because that belt meant nothing. I wanted Booker, later on when he won me over, to be the WWE Chapmion, the title Brock won that night from Angle. You could have put anyone against Triple H at that point and it wouldn't have mattered. RAW sucked during that entire period. Undertaker, Hogan, Brock and Angle were on Smackdown and those were the guys I wanted to see the most during that period. Not Booker T, Triple H, Ric Flair, Orton, etc...
Best Mania of all time. Mania card was so stacked, Taker was the second match...
Conrad was on point. The promo was flat out racist
Great show and this is definitely one of the best wrestlemanias ever also one of the saddest with it being stone colds last match 😔
Get the chapstick out.
I question why did Brock have to have a crowning moment he already had his moment when he beat The Rock at SummerSlam so why not give Booker T. the moment instead.
Nothing against limp Bizkit like them but like in the wrestling business
They couldn't carry kidd t rocks jockstrap all around music wise
Booker/hhh booker should've went over and had brock go over on raw
Conrad says Bruce wants to be argumentative but he's the one who argues when he doesn't like the answer. What's up with that!
You think Ric was yelling “You can’t fire me! I’m already fired!” while he was attacking Bischoff?
Man what a card. Taker, hbk, Austin, rock, Hogan, hhh, Jericho, Kurt, Brock, booker T, and Trish ❤️
I think this is the most star studded wrestlemania card of all time. When Taker is 2nd match of the night, you know you have a strong card.
Im so happy you guys made this episode!
I remember going to the WWE Ride in Niagara Falls and it had a store below it was awesome wonder what’s there now
last time i was in Niagara Falls was pre-pandemic...late spring of 2019. that space where wwe used to be was a massive brewpub that showcased its own beer brewed on site. no clue if that place still exists or not now
Bruce makes a great point on "what were the actual numbers of the Monday Night Wars," around the 31:00 Mark.
True
Wm19 rebook.....world championship hbk vs rvd=RVD wins world title 1st time!!!! Wouldve been well deserved wwf championship match stays the same great match Lesnar vs angle......Austin vs goldberg.....hogan and rock vs flair and hhh......undertaker vs big show one on one......tag matches stay the same added the dudleys......rey mysterio vs jeff hardy......kane vs Booker t vs Steiner number 1 contender triple threat match
Make it fatal 4 way booker t v Steiner v kane v Jericho
Booker was by far the best talent to come out of WCW, although I do admit that Vince buried alot of those guys who could have/should have done better. DDP comes to mind
His hair is nappy, and anyone can have nappy hair, especially booker t. It's not racism making fun of someone's hair no matter what color they're, if it's nappy then it's nappy and I don't give a damn their color.
All the injuries and dramas at WrestleMania 19 just shows how hard the WWE talents pushed themselves during the Monday Night Wars. Austin was 100% right talking about used up gear, they just worked themselves to the bone.
The ride was on the roof of the store located on Clifton Hill, Which is right by the Falls
Yes..... Booker should've won.
I feel like the company got together afterwards and all came up with these buzzwords and rebuttals: totality, wcw vs wwf, rock said knappy earlier, only one baby face that night, etc... love that Conrad just presses and presses for the fans. Thanks!
Good mania. In my opinion not better than 17 however... this event was important due to Austin's last match. Many folks thought Steve Austin was bullshitting about his last but, the man was for real. End of 316 era. This mania should not be over looked by far.
4 years old for a stadium is still new
Conrad said he agrees to disagree with Bruce about WM 17 being the best WM if it’s not 17 then what WM was the best cuz for me it’s 17 and it’s not that close. The greatest ppv ever.
I love how Bruce argues that the ratings were fans watching both shows yet he’a always argued that WCW guys weren’t known by the WWE audience. He’s right on the ratings…most of the people watching wrestling watch or sample it all. The chances a WWE fan had no idea of a relevant WCW star was slim to none.
Bruce just repeating WWE’s anti WCW narrative
I love these podcasts. But my God this Conrad guy is annoying .
Wrestlemania XIX is up there as one of the best Wrestlemanias of all-time along with Wrestlemania X-Seven!
Kevin Budzinski agreed top 3 for me!
Kevin Budzinski your favourite is wrestlemania 9
tagline was 'Dare to Dream?' Limp Bizkit, Seattle, triple main event. not surprising this has become a cult mania.
Excellent build up with Mania starting at 2:18:00 enjoy
One of the best episodes.
Greatest WM ever despite HHH.
Triple h went over bc of the fuckin the bosses kid logic
Just (re-)listened to their coverage of the Hulk/Vince match, and I was surprised they didn't discuss that chair shot that Hugo Savinovich took at his announce table. I could've sworn they DID talk about it, though, since I have a vague memory of SOMEONE doing an impression of Stone Cold in the gorilla position saying that they need to tell "Huguito" to move out of the way... Was that not here? Was it on some other podcast or documentary (and if so, which one)???
I dont know if youve clipped it but if not then clip when u started #shepooted!!!!!! Had me rollin on floor
Everyone was talking about Brock eating shit on the flip the next day at school lol
Leave the imitations to Bruce, Conrad sounds like himself everytime he imitates someone
Thats why its so funny!
Also, the theme park. Why is that an weird obsession? lmfao. WWE is involved with so many things. This is one of the reasons why it became so huge. They were everywhere.
Something To Wrestle is the highlight of my Friday work night!! It makes my job much more enjoyable. Thanks again fellas!
The racist Booker T burial was the only bad thing on this show otherwise it’s my favourite Wrestlemania
That gimmick was Booker T's idea dumbass
XIV Words why are you lying so randomly hahaha
1:33:50 Conrad the race baiter
I think what Bruce fails to see, regarding Booker-HHH, is not only was it bad booking to have HHH win, but when he hit the pedigree, how looooong it took HHH to cover Booker.
Top guys like hhh and Orton do that and can get away with it.
@2:12:33 lol I absolutely love Conrad’s “no sell” on Bruce’s song. 😂🤣😂
I do agree with Conrad, here.
While not making the angle more 'correct', it certainly would not have stuck in the craw - or probably even be discussed much today - if Book had won the title and enjoyed a decent run.
It would have proven that whatever are the words said in the promos, actions speak louder than words and the company is giving it's top title to and laying it's hat on a black performer, which would have essentially negated any undertones to the promos.
....I love how when Conrad asked why didn't shark boy get a contact...and Bruce said...."are you ribbin me? Cuz he's a SHARK"....coming from the guy who made Kane ...and supernatural human from hell...and a company who literally at this same moment in time has a hurricane...a superhero.....a pirate who swings down on a rope....a damn vampire on ECW....for the second time in their history....as well as a zombie.....but a guy who dressed like a shark imitating stone cold was to much....
Nathan Jones left because he couldn’t handle the constant travel at his size.
yea
I love the promo that Flair had with him where Flair explains to Booker T his qualifications. Like he was qualified to pick up his bags when they get off the plane, place them in the limo and put on a chauffeur hat. This was classic heel work.
"Sometimes you just want to be argumentive."
But Conrad you're the one crying and arguing with him when he says something you don't like.
He simply answers a question, you don't like it, and you tell him he's arguing.
It's you dude.
Every single podcast this guy does when they answer something and he doesn't like the answer, he tells them they just want to be argumentive, or they can argue the horns off a billygoat, etc.
It's him that's argumentive. He whines about everything.
What needs to happen is he needs to take the energy he uses to argue with people that were actually there and done something, and put it towards losing weight and getting healthy.
Saw him in person at a show, dude's huge.
"Whatever I did, I fucked up my flip flop" 😂
