    You may need to clean you sewing machine bobbin case with a machine brush. Getting all the lint out of the creases and ridges. Then oil your machine top and bottom in oiling spots. rethread the top of the machine and change your needle to a new one and make sure the needle you use is made for your brand of sewing machine. These tips mat help with your tension also. If the machine is threaded wrong it will cause the tension to be off. Good luck. Thank you for sharing. Lovely project. 👍🥰

    Another fantastic rainy afternoon project. I so look forward to your videos every week and watch them at least twice. And I confess I’ll often put your playlist in to fall asleep (☺️). I’m very happy to report that I have been making the ridiculously addictive three pockets tuck, and once you get the hang of it you can whip up a batch form all different papers in no time. I’ve even made some teeny tiny ones for beautiful postage stamps! The only hint I have is that if you use washi to add it as a tip in then you’re best off glueing the washi down to both sides as I’ve found with the weight of the paper they can come unstuck very easily. Even a glue stick does the job. But.... I’m challenging you to make a MINI project. Like your lovely folders or anything, but a tiny one that can be sent as happy mail in a usual card sized envelope ✉️. I send a lot of happy mail and I’m always looking for new ideas. As always Thankyou so much for a beautiful and adaptable project my love, you never cease to inspire. Xx

Thanks for sharing this. I'm going to make some.🦋 Also make sure your bobbin is threaded right. I was sewing one day and it was the bobbin that was off set. Keep going, you'll get better with time.

    I really enjoyed your video! I believe I am perhaps fussier than you are--meaning I would do with more precision and less tattiness--but your methods produce a lovely and interesting product! The only cringing fussy me did was when you applied glue to the next part over or on top of your beautiful work! Please cover your work with a protective layer when you are spreading fresh glue or paste! Again, very fun video to watch for inspiration!

    Good morning, Joie.. Love how this turned out. The colors you chose to use with the Oriental women were perfect. Tip. Washi can lose it's stickyness so if you're going to be flipping that pocket back and forth, I'd consider reinforcing with glue. Creative Blessings!

    Hi Joie, I am very new to journaling and finding your video series very helpful. As a lover of maps I am keen to use them in my projects but reluctant to cut or tear the ones I own. I couple of trips to the local charity shop to find an old atlas proved fruitless until I had the sense to ask if they had any in the back of the shop destined for the pulp merchant. They did. A 1997 almost A3 size Reader’s Digest World Atlas in perfect condition. They said their policy is not to put out-of-date atlases on the shelves. I thought I would share this in case other charity shops have the same policy and other journalers are struggling to find them. I’m thrilled that I have saved the atlas to use in my projects rather than it being pulped. Thank you again for sharing your inspiring projects. At the moment, I am a little bit addicted to making your three triangle pockets. :)

    Another awesome creation 👍😁
    I don't know if you are aware of this, seems you are, but others viewing this might not... when putting images of people onto a page, it looks better if they are looking into the page, not out to the edge. This is very evident on your piece here. That the lady on the upper right is also looking down into the page is perfect placement. This graphic design "rule," as well as, things look better in odd numbers, can really make a difference.
    With junk journals, "poor" stitching could be seen as intentional, however the problem with the tension being off is if a stitch breaks, it could easily unravel the rest of the stitches (especially when it's so off you get loops in the back).

      The tension issue is very real.. I've found some fixes so hopefully we're in a better place now. Love the placement tips! Keep them coming!! 💜👍

      @@joiedefi generally you don't want to mess with the bobbin tension, unless you are doing some special technique (which I teach). It appears your top tension is not able to pull up the bobbin thread adequately. This might just be because of sewing through layers of paper. It might be perfectly fine sewing fabric. So in order to pull the bobbin thread up more, you need to increase your top tension. I recommend sewing a few inches on a test piece, stop (needle down) increase the tension, sew a few more inches, and repeat until the tension is balanced (both sides look the same). If you find it doesn't look balanced when you reach the highest top tension, then it's time to loosen the bobbin tension, which I could walk you thru. I keep two bobbins, one for normal sewing (fabric) and one set loose where I need it to be for special techniques. That way I won't strip the tiny screw from multiple adjustments over time.

      I've switched my thread which has helped enormously. I only have a Hobbycraft Midi sewing machine...🤭🤭

      @@joiedefi matching thread in both the top and bobbin helps, as does quality thread. Heavyweight hand quilting thread (I recommend YLI) is what you might need when sewing through layers of paper. It's what I use. The right size needle also helps. Try a Top Needle or Jeans Needle. If you can't find either in your area I'd be happy to send you some, or have a supplier do so
      If all that doesn't work, and since you primarily sew paper, you might need to loosen the bobbin. I'm not familiar with your machine, as a spokesperson for Pfaff, I only use them. If your bobbin case is removable, the tension is adjusted by turning the tiny screw (righty tighty, lefty loosey) which you do very slightly until you get the desired balance.

    why are most junk journals vintage looking? Is that how they are supposed to be? I am not a fan ov the vintage look but have never see a non vintage style junk journal.

    • @joiedefi
      @joiedefi  3 роки тому

      That's a great question Ashlee, I guess to some extent it's personal taste. My junk journals tend to look a bit different, and I love to use what I have. Here's an example ua-cam.com/video/sFNjpAg1mog/v-deo.html
