Solo Female Van Life | Do I feel Safe?

- Hey friends! Welcome back to the channel! Today I’m talking through some of the ways I maintain my safety while traveling solo in the van. In partnership with our friends over at SYLVANIA!
Adding exterior lighting from SYLVANIA has been such a big game changer in helping me feel more confident on the road. We added their 10” Ultra LED Combo Lightbar and 3” Cube LED Spot Light Pods all around the van so that I can easily flip a switch and see outside when it’s dark! See the link below to check them out! SYLVANIA off-road lighting is ultra durable and built to withstand heat and resist corrosion which is super important considering all of the different climates we travel through!

Your channel just came up as suggested and this was the first video I’ve watched. Please stay safe out there. May I make a suggestion? I would not share with anyone, especially on your channel, that your dog is not trained. There are too many stupid people and if they know your dog is harmless, they won’t hesitate. If people ask, just tell them he’s trained on command and leave them guessing. People don’t need to know everything. Wish you the best and looking forward to watching more videos.
Exatamente!
@@millamontenegro I bet her dog would protect her if need be. I had a Rottie that would have killed someone over me. She was a sweetheart and never trained. But I am 100% sure she would have protected me or died trying. She passed away recently. I miss her terribly and I don’t feel safe like I did with her.
A barking dog can sway even good intentions when approaching a van. My two dogs aren't trained but know their job instinctively and are very loud and protective in our van and our stick and bricks.
I also use on some of my home window's, is the glass covering where you xan see out but people cant see in. Love it
I took my first van outing this past week with my two dogs and WOW, am I learning a lot. Your videos are so helpful and this one is very timely. I'm taking notes and Thank you.
You have given some very sensible guidance here - thank you. I think also a reminder to those not travelling solo, your behaviour can also make people feel comfortable/uncomfortable so please be mindful of those nearby, especially solo femaies
Hi. I just built my van and are going out on the road with my daughter. This is great information and I love your channel.
I'd like to add that if you have a fob for your vehicle sleep with it right next to you & hit that emergency button ;0) even if you live in an apt or house.... you may not see who the person while they are running but sum1 else might, and you could help others if they get caught. Staysafe =-)
That is so sad and sick that us women feel so unsafe everywhere, even in our own home... This is a huge problem!
Not all women feel unsafe in most situations, except within a risky one. In general, life is full of risks, so we just take smart precautions, like she does.
Edit: Many men also fear crime.
@leannemo7382 men experience violent attack at higher rates then ladies.
Thats a self created problem lmao
@@bash656agreed. When one man attacts another man they sure ain't trying to be nice about it, especially if they are trying to rob you.
I think women are less likely to overestimate the dangers of their surroundings outside the home than men and men tend to underestimate. As a result, women are statistically less likely to be assaulted by a stranger on the streets than men. All that said, statistically speaking, women are more likely to be assaulted by strangers at home than men because we tend to underestimate the safety of our homes. What this youtuber is doing with her home is very smart.
Miss you Court! Thx for keeping us updated on your adventures 🤙⚡️🌴
I'm a new subscriber ☺ what an amazing life you live, I like when you said if you feel uncomfortable you can just move lol I think the lights are a great idea to help you and pets feel more secure ❤
This is a very insightful video! Even for those that are not living in a van, very mindful tips for life!
This was a great video!! Thanks for the info 🫶🏾🤙🏾
My suggestion is to Not keep keys in the ignition or visible, but near you at All times, and also a kn°fe.
I love love love your videos and that you guys have jobs plus you to showing everyone you can do this and have a job that might tie you to a place
You have such amazing style! ❤
Just watched the video aside from my previous comment. People are scary, almost to an unreasonable amount, and I think that has to do with the fact that we often times don’t know the other persons intentions. That thought always haunts me even though I aspire to someday be a traveler living in a van. You and Nate both are wonderful people and to be honest are my inspiration. I really hope you are safe and are enjoying the beach life. ❤️
I have also traveled in a van and it has its times where you need to be cautious, but I personally think if you take the right precautions, it can be a safe endeavor
@@rosecolorsparks Where have you been? I know I’ve always wanted to travel along the coast. 🤩
@That.Wun.Commenter I haven't the last year but I miss it.
@@rosecolorsparks I bet you do, much love!
Having so many subscribers, I don’t think it’s safe to share when you are traveling alone, even if you don’t share your location. Stay safe!
I'd appreciate if I got to see the daily routine kind of a video from this one
I am wondering if outside cameras would be helpful.
Hi Courtney! Not sure if your plants are real, but philodendron are poisonous to cats and doggos.❤
Why don't you travel and go with your husband when he has to go away for 3 months for work, can't you live in the same city as him, or is he in another country?
That's what I was wondering, 3 months is a longtime. I feel and hate this day in age is not that safe for women alone.
Do you do consoltations forr help with van builds! I'm based in CA!
You should check out Nomad Brad! He is awesome!
Is the kitten getting a name? If not name her nugget!
Luv watching ur videos but wasn't impressed w this one because all u talked about for the entire 12 min was the light...
Fr
Wow, not sure what video you watched but starting around 4:00 she talked about how she handles feeling safe. Then she briefly mentioned lighting again at the end. She clearly said at the beginning that it was a sponsored video.🤷🏽♀️
Not everything needs to always be the same.
@@theresejohnson1814 Having 35% of a video be an advertisement is a lot. Sponsored video doesn’t mean 35% of the video is an infomercial.
I thought the information about the lighting was very helpful! 😊❤️
U talk to much. Less talk and more action
Exactly what kind of action are you wanting 😂
How do you handle keeping your pets cool or warm when you're not in the van? I'm traveling with my dog and could really use some advice on how to handle when she needs to stay in the van while I'm at work. Any suggestions? Right now I'm in a hotel but this would save me so much money!
Love new kitten playing in the back ground and Tomkins paw appearing out of no where just after you introed him!!! LOL I just got back from the Overlander Expo and security was a big topic there, you covered a lot of points that were discussed there!!! Good job, lady!!
Are they sensor lights ? If not it would be very helpful, that way they switch on if there is movement around the van.some sensor lights also have an extra option ( which is helpful if you're asleep)then when they sense movement they switch on & can also make a sound from a recorded message such as recording yourself saying
" hey what are you doing here ?"
Safe travels xx
I think lights and dogs are great deterrents! I have always felt safe at a State Campground. You can always pretend that Nate is with you (even if he is not) and talk to an imaginary friend- who is gonna know 😂
Those lights are so nice. We need to get one for our side door!
Hey I just subbed and commented on your newest video😮😮
Love your channel! Question, do I you ever see family or friends?
Hi Courtney, I really appreciate this video. Thank you for sharing your experience, as well as your tips on feeling safe. I love your van build and keep saying to my toddler and my husband that if we ever go van-life camping, the bathroom/shower in the van is really essential for me
How interesting, I always thought that a bright beacon light like that would attract undesired attention to the van.
Me encanta mirar tus Videos, yme encanta cuando estas con tu Esposo y tu perro 🐕 y tu 🐱, bendiciones y have fun.
Dam I’m early, stay safe Court.
You just floating around in the bushes
great video GOD BLESS BY OUR SAVIOR JESUS THE CHRIST do you ever visit your husband and is it exspensive taking your pets
Hello Court, can we collaborate? We are an inflatable paddle board brand, really love the content you created, and believe that we could do a win-win collab together. Hope we can discuss more?
this could have been 5 mins. very long winded
Do you have a car too? And do you and your husband switch off who takes which vehicle to work during the week?
I, too, sleep better and feel more comfortable stealthing in the city or even a loud truck stop when soloing than in a quiet, remote place. What is that about? 😆 Maybe just the fact that there are people around to hear you scream vs absolutely NO ONE 😳😅 ah, womanhood 🥲
