@@TheKartoffel101 I'd believe that; coming from the agonist to a band like arch enemy who was already heavily established it would make sense if she wanted to stick with what the base was used to for a few records to establish herself and get the respect of the core fans before reaching out with clean vocals. On the other hand, as i recall historically the lyrics are normally written by the ammotts so maybe they didn't come up with anything good enough for her until now? I could very well be really wrong about the lyrics being written by traditionally being written by the ammotts (now just the one) tho
The wait was worth it tho. It also shows they are still extremely relevant in the world. It’s what makes AE great, always showing up with a nuanced difference
Going down the Arch Enemy rabbit hole, it would definitely be a good choice to check out the live version of the song Nemesis, both with Angela and Alissa. I'm partial to Angela, she was one of the pioneers of harsh female vocals, and to this day I still think one of the most raw and powerful. Also, if you haven't already, check out The Agonist. It was the first band Alissa was in, but their current vocalist Vicky, is a powerhouse in her own right. Remnants in Time and In Vertigo really showcase Vicky's talent.
I've listen to arch enemy for the last 17 years of my life and seen them 15 times live. Angela was fucking brutal on stage, nobody like her, will be my fav forever. Alyssa, on the other side, brought AE to an higher (more commercial?) level. Last album is a masterpiece.
This song is pretty controversial among older Arch Enemy fans, it's a break with tradition. On the other hand they're picking up lots of new fans. Personally I don't care what anyone thinks it's my favorite song from them. If you liked this, try Reason to Believe, it's got a great message. Great reaction!
I am a hardcore Arch Enemy fan from the very beginning and absolutely love anything Alissa has to offer. She has so much talent...I don't want my favorite bands to get stuck in a particular sound...those type of bands I have stopped listening to over the years because I need new music, not the same-old-same-old.
It's better to stop comparing Angela and Alissa cuz they are different singers. Angela's growl was more harsh and strong but she didn't do clean vocals. Alissa can do growl and clean so they had to find their own way for the future of the band. Deceiver album is very good and I finally understand their way of doing Arch Enemy music, different than the old material. It isn't better or worse, it's just another Arch Enemy and it's very good!
@@despicable6545 yup fair…they are very different singers but at the same time is amazing how Alissa can emulate a lot of what Angela did and also sing…i just really think it goes to show that the band is evolving just like the metal scene has
true, but don`t deny the AWESOME guitarist they had b4 Jeffrey L., Johan Liva. Watch the War Eternal video. That one has as Johan Liva and he really kicks ass....he`s like fast AF, yet extremely technical
You know, just some weeks ago most Arch Enemy lovers where not expecting this much cleans in the songs. Well this song. It threw many into a void. Some landed in happyland (I did), and some are still in shock treatment thinking they have gone insane. The cleans add so much dynamics to the songs and I sure hope this was just a start. AE has always done this thing where the music brings out the power in the words. Also the guitarrs mostly plays the melody in the refeains since it is mostly harsh vocals. That way you get a sing-a-long melody mixed with metal raging harshness and it is masterfully blended. Happy you are happy too! Stay Metal! 🤘😎🤘
Yes, I think this is why AE managed to keep their unique style while also evolving sucessfully through 3 different singers. The musicianship in AE is just pure pleasure to listen to. And they made great choices the two times they had to replace a singer. Also very glad that Angela was very involved with getting Alissa into AE.
@@NyxTyrianthinus Totally agree! Also getting Jeff L to play was a catch. A supergroup! Never seen tgem live, but want to more than ever now. Wish they play closer to my town. Angela managing the band now is also cool. Dream scenario: Angela AND Alissa together live on stage doing AE songs! 🤘😎🤘
Th progression of this band with the addition of Alissa and Jeff Loomis made an already good band, great! Also, I'm a drummer and Daniel is super solid. I love his work.
I think you nailed it with the Lizzy Hail sound to that level of grit.......... I totally agree especially after seeing them both live. Definitely recommend seeing Angela she is a beast and still my favourite singer from Arch Enemy
Amazing reaction. I'm so happy that they are starting to let out the clean vocals out. Her voice is amazing. Great reaction as always. Much love from Illinois
This song has only been out for a few weeks and there have already been dozens of reaction videos to it. I must say, I like your reaction the best. I am also new to Arch Enemy and I feel like a total idiot. I would love to see your reaction to their song "Nemesis" live from Wacken from 2016. The band is absolutely fantastic and Alissa's stage presence and look are second to none.
does alissa even know how satisfying her clean vocals are to some of the listeners? it could be my favorite band, dont get me wrong, I love growls and especially screams, but an entire song singing in the growling voice was never really my thing. this song was like opening a window for me to get some fresh air. and another sick music performance video.
@@DBASSDAN I like her growl but im not very experienced. I like it because I can understand her while most other growl, I can't hear much of what is being said.

Alissa has been singing for Kamelot before Arch Enemy. She also did the "legendary concert" performing for Nightwish together with Elize Ryd in Chicago 2012 before Floor joined the band. She is fantastic with her clean voice. I am really happy she is now using it also with Arch Enemy.
Awesome song I love they finally use Alissas clean vocals! You should also check out Arch Enemy old singer Angela Gossow. I recommand "Nemesis" from the 2008 Live in Tokyo performance. She was one of the first female metal front singer that did harsh vocals. Today she is the manager of the band. Also I can recommand to check out "Arch Enemy - War Eternal" Live at Wacken 2016 if you want to hear Alissa live
THIS is the song that finally but without any slight of a doubt put Alissa into the f*ing holy trinity of female metal singers (right beside Tarja and Floor). NOBODY comes even close to those three - and there are a LOT of brilliant singers besides them. Well, let's say it like it is: Nobody comes close in other genres either, just because there are simply no other singers that can feature so many and so hugely different styles in such a perfect way. Besides that, this is just a brilliant musician masterpiece all in all. Every single second of it. I have heard just a very, very, very few songs intense like that in my life. Anyone who listens to that and doesn't get goosebumps on goosebumps on goosebumps just hasn't any feelings at all. 😁
Talking about Harsh @ around 80 BPM Talking about Cleans, drops to around 77 ... more comfortable here? less stress? Talking about Lzzy .. excitement, bumps up to 81... 82... 84!! "Syncing instruments to lyrics" @ 87-88 (yes it does hit you hard) During the free-time clean drop ... 71, 72 ("oooooh, kittens"-type reaction? I'm not sure) TALKING about the Clean Drop 91-92 (your analysis, going off the charts) .. the acousti-physiology nerd in me is just rolling on the floor right now. Thank you so much for putting the BPM up there.
I know I'm super late to seeing this video, but Alissa live is on another level, how animated she is in the videos, she does that on stage and more, she runs around with a flag and stuff lol, and she's so tiny compared to everyone else lol
with the clean vocals she sounds like a princess and when goes from that to a growl I love it I got goose bumps through out the whole song it is that good I love arch enemy there so amazing I have their songs and as a new song comes out from them I download the song on my phone
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed this new song! This is new kind of song, but it still has all the AE-elements. I really have to think what to recommend next, because there is so many. And many of them with different vocalists, and all of them both official videos and live versions... But maybe I should go the most obvious and usually most recommended: Song "Nemesis" Wacken 2016 with Alissa or 2008 Tokyo with Angela.
Have said it before. So glad AE let Alissa sings clean,i mean she can sing fuckin everything. And btw have followed the band all the way and i am glad they changed to Alissa. I am probably almost alone with that opinion but i dont give a shit. Its my opinion folks. Thanks for a great reaction.👍🤘
I've watched more than a handful of reactions to this song/video, and every single one has the same positive reaction to Alissa's clean vocals. I guarantee the band is watching. Alissa posted the video on her IG, and was inundated with praise for the cleans. So if the upcoming album doesn't have more than this song featuring cleans, the album after that will. Building a bigger audience is always good.
The blonde guitarist is Jeff Loomis, one of the greatest guitarists to walk the earth. He was in a band from washington state called "Nevermore" one of my favorite bands that broke up after the lead singer died. You should give them a try, the lead singer Warrel Dane had a unique voice and writing style, and oh boy the riffs were awesome. Jeff Loomis also released some instrumental albums that are amazing.
This song hit my playlist right after it released, so good. For Alissa and a change difference of screaming to clean vocals live, maybe Delain “Hands of Gold” or Kamelot “Liar Liar” , none come to mind of where she switches super fast between styles though. Excited for this one to be done live soon enough
Loved your reaction! Arch Enemy is a band I’ve been meaning to spend some time going through, you just gave me a reason to start now. This song was badass! Thank you!🤘🏻👍🏻
I find it funny that reactors are shocked hearing vocalists switching between growls and cleans. Tatiana of Jinjer is the Master of this style and has spawned the opportunity for other bands to move in that direction. It's great to see here but not a surprise
Jinjer is amazing! They are a relatively young band in metal years and one of those bands moving in the direction of opportunity spawned by dozens of bands before them. Artists both male and female have mastered switching between growls and cleans years before Jinjer arrived on the scene.
If you like the clean vocals with growls you should also check out "Lost Zone" , "Gemini Syndrome", "Smash into pieces" "In flames" & "In this Moment". All amazing bands that need more attention!!!
Absolutely loved your reaction Aileen!! I loved this song by Arch Enemy and I knew you would as well!! I did want to mention that when you do end up checking out their song House of Glass I read that the lyrics have a ton of meaning behind them and they were based off the Covid Era we've been stuck in unfortunately being forced to isolate in our homes. Once I read this it really made the song hit twice as hard especially once you make that connection with the lyrics! Thank you for this reaction and can't wait for your next one 🤘
Here's your rabbit hole: Alissa originally sang for The Agonist (Business Suits and Combat Boots,) lots of cleans. Jeff Loomis, the blonde guitarist is a shredding legend and played for Nevermore in the 90s. Michael Amott's (main writer and guitarist here,) band Carcass (Heartwork) was also pretty big in the 90s. Arch Enemy is kind of like a super-group at this point.
Swedish metal 🇸🇪❤️🤘🏼 one of the biggest metal counties together with our neighbours Finland and Norway. Think you should check out Orbit Culture and Sabaton from sweden and Wintersun from Finland and finally.. perhaps the best symphonic death metal song in the world Dimmu Borgir with Gateways (live) from Norway ❤️🇸🇪🇳🇴🇫🇮❤️
Ok, love Alissa, but it's time for Angela's ARCH ENEMY. I suggest "I Am Legend out for Blood (live)" or "Burning Angel (live in Tokyo 2008)". The contrast between both singers' stage presence is quite worthwhile. Cheers!
Definitifly a masterpiece! I love the eye-catcher Alissa with her growl or (beautiful) clean or soft voice. Her stage presence is simply magical and incredible! It is not the 1st time for Arch Enemy. Listen to the song "Reason to Believe" on album WILL TO POWER with clean voice. I think it was a long overdue step, use the full potential of her voice. Btw. who designs her fuckin' outfits? And the other guys? Guitars? Bass? Drums? Really perfect and amazing. A lot of ideas that makes me addicted eg. solos, the bridge ... This song blows my mind away!
You ought to check out Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope (Live in Colorado 2016). Six of the most incredible musicians you'll ever lay eyes on. Clean singing, harsh vocals, a violin, insane drummer, bassist, two guitar players. Magic made into sound.
I suggest the song "Nemesis" by them. The live version with Angela Gossow is outstanding, and "My Apocalipse" as well. Actually, there are so many amazing Arch Enemy songs, that is hard to list all of them here, but with Alissa I suggest "War Eternal" and "The Race", that last one has really good lyrics. Anyway, my point is, this is an amazing band. Cheers from Brazil! 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
YEES! Angela and Alissa are both such beasts on stage. I was lucky to see AE live waaay back when Angela was still singing, it was amazing. I have seen them live multible times in the Alissa era, both on festivals (Wacken
@@NyxTyrianthinus, wow! Great insight! Unfotunetly, I never saw them live, but yes, Alissa has a great stage presence, and their musicianship is pure gold.
Arch Enemy, much like Nightwish, In This Moment, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Insomnium; is always in my top Metal playlists, and none of them ever leave. Plenty join, but these groups never leave.
Sorry for being "late to the party", but I noticed you said that you wanted to listen to some of the previous songs before Alissa White-Gluz replaced Angela Gossow, I definitely recommend the song "My Apocalypse" featuring Angela Gossow. You may also like to compare how the song "Nemesis" (from the album *Doomsday Machine*) sounds with Angela Gossow versus Alissa White-Gluz. There are lots of other songs as well, but "Nemesis" feels like a very gratifying song to me.
You should really check out The World Is Yours from Arch Enemy when you get the chance!! Please don't forget to check out the band Bloodywood, they're an amazing band out of India that mixes metal, rap, and Indian street music all together for an amazing sound, they make music about subjects that other bands are afraid to talk about, plus they need our support as they're up and coming.
Fan of metal since, well, long ago, not a huge fan of Arch Enemy, great band don't get me wrong, but also The Agonist, Alissa was incredible but in Arch Enemy she seemed to be stuck in "replacement for Angela" mode, this is an achievement in metal music; the track, the production, the musicianship, and it finally showcases just how incredible Allisa's vocals are...this is their "Painkiller"
Only this song and Reason to Believe have her do cleans not sure about any other songs on the coming record. But she did a lot of cleans in her first band (and was the first singer for) The Agonist, which their new singer isn’t bad either she’s really good and she does some covers (on her UA-cam channel) I think are awesome. But my favorite cleans Alissa ever did to me was her A cappella (just her vocals layered) The Agonist - Swan Song
for every reaction to arch enemy ill say if you listen to any old the agonist song whit allisa you will know she is just a badass at harsh and clean vocals and i'm happy for her she can finaly do it again whit archenemy
Harsh vocals aren't really my thing, but I have learned to appreciate them in small doses. That said her voice is cool, and I do like for harsh vocal songs to be broken up with some clean singing. Overall it has an 80's vibe, which I love. The band sounds great, some really good stuff there.
Great reaction really. But yours always are. One suggestion that I think you might love: In This Moment - Sick Like Me. Official vid ofc. Rock on St.Pie 🤣😜
I really enjoyed your reaction!! I love arch enemy and I saw them live in October last year You should listen to the song: Dark Insanity, from their debut album Black Earth, for me that’s the best song and the thickest one they’ve ever released with Johan Liiva as the vocalist, it’s got really dark, thick and powerful lyrics plus really deep growls!!😍🔥🤘🤘
Hi, love the vids from the UK! If you've got a list of suggestions to work through I would love to see you listen to Loathe Fast hectic metalcore with some wonderfully dreamy Deftones like sections New Faces in the Dark is one of my absolute favourites of all time, Two-Way Mirror is a bit more accessible and conventional 😊
OK.... A little suggestion🎶: I don't know if you already checked out their last album, named "will to power", it's a masterpiece!!! I have listened to it 2 years ago for the first time and just bought this and some other records from AE as a CD which I just do if I am really like addicted to certain bands😅. I extremely recommend like a full album reaction of "will to power". So you can put out single videos or do like 2 or 3 songs in one video. I know that's a bit of work and it is also blocking time to react to other recommended bands. All I can say is that this masterpiece is definitely worth your time and there are a lot of fans out there, who would by very happy if someone invests her time therefore. If you consider to not do this it's absolutely reproducible. But then you should at least react to their singles from "will to power", which are: The Race; The Eagle Flies Alone (you already did that🖤) ; The World Is Yours; Reason To Believe... Keep on with the great work Aileen👌😜
Hey, I hope you'll check out Arch enemy with previous singer Angela. I recommend Under black flags we march, We will rise or something from live show 2008. from Tokyo like Burning angel, Nemesis or anything else, the whole show is amazing and brutal. I kind of like Alissa but I prefer Angela or Johan on vocals especially at live shows. 🍻🍻 🤟

Thank you for this reaction and can't wait for your next one 🤘
Love your enthusiasm in this one :) Just rocking out \,,/
THAT WAS THE COOLEST THING I EVER SAW!!!!! WOW!!! METAL IN MY FACE!!!!
Think you should check out Orbit Culture and Sabaton from sweden and Wintersun from Finland and finally.. perhaps the best symphonic death metal song in the world Dimmu Borgir with Gateways (live) from Norway ❤️🇸🇪🇳🇴🇫🇮❤️
have you heard lorna shore to the hellfire? i whould love to see a video reaction of this one!
Backed it up to hear the solo in full 🙌 you’re a real one for that 🥲
I suggest the song "Nemesis" by them.
Also they're going on tour in a few weeks if you wanna see them live 😎
Traditional melodeath that guitars do the melody in chorus and Amott it's surprisingly good in this one...well he makes the songs you know
two awesome voices
Nobody expected clean)) its first song of this type
She was fantastic in the Agonist. Check out You're Coming With Me.
its a masterpiece of a song
I wanted to give my self a break from AE until I get to seen them here in Seattle, but then, here I'm. lol.
Arch Enemy, much like Nightwish, In This Moment, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Insomnium; is always in my top Metal playlists, and none of them ever leave. Plenty join, but these groups never leave.
Arch enemy goes all out on their production that's for sure Alyssa's always been the bomb ...
Another recent Arch Enemy song I recommend is Deceiver, Deceiver. It's pretty fast and heavy though.
Please check some The Agonist song live with Alissa ! ( its the first band of Alissa in Montréal ! ) you will see she can sing clean vocal live 😉
if you want full potential of alissa's vocals go for Thank you Pain by The Agonist !! her previous band :)
Facts. Also would recommend Wait out the winter, Siren's song Banshe's cry, Martyr Art and Panaphobia
Alissa White-Gluz is the greatest stage presence in music today! Nobody is better!
Arch is amazing and so are you
You should really check out The World Is Yours from Arch Enemy when you get the chance!! Please don't forget to check out the band Bloodywood, they're an amazing band out of India that mixes metal, rap, and Indian street music all together for an amazing sound, they make music about subjects that other bands are afraid to talk about, plus they need our support as they're up and coming.
Fan of metal since, well, long ago, not a huge fan of Arch Enemy, great band don't get me wrong, but also The Agonist, Alissa was incredible but in Arch Enemy she seemed to be stuck in "replacement for Angela" mode, this is an achievement in metal music; the track, the production, the musicianship, and it finally showcases just how incredible Allisa's vocals are...this is their "Painkiller"
arch enemy - revolution begins, with the original singer angela :3
Only this song and Reason to Believe have her do cleans not sure about any other songs on the coming record. But she did a lot of cleans in her first band (and was the first singer for) The Agonist, which their new singer isn’t bad either she’s really good and she does some covers (on her UA-cam channel) I think are awesome. But my favorite cleans Alissa ever did to me was her A cappella (just her vocals layered) The Agonist - Swan Song
for every reaction to arch enemy ill say if you listen to any old the agonist song whit allisa you will know she is just a badass at harsh and clean vocals and i'm happy for her she can finaly do it again whit archenemy
the bands insane
their hitting those strings so fast my brain can't keep up it creates a fog in my brain dude
Yo! Can´t wait to see more Arch Enemy! specially older songs
Yeeaahh arch enemy another beast metal women..btw maybe you should check out to the symphonic metal , Lacuna coil ' reckless' ..🤟🤟
Alissa has a beautiful clean voice :)
She fronted a band called Delain and has filled in for Floore Jansen of Nightwish
Arch Enemy song, automatic LIKE!!!
Love the participation of Loomis on the Album so far U should check out Reasons to Believe she did cleans on that song as well.
Harsh vocals aren't really my thing, but I have learned to appreciate them in small doses. That said her voice is cool, and I do like for harsh vocal songs to be broken up with some clean singing. Overall it has an 80's vibe, which I love. The band sounds great, some really good stuff there.
I love this band! I call her Blue Raspberry Slushy! Everything about her is Delicious 😂
Great reaction really. But yours always are. One suggestion that I think you might love: In This Moment - Sick Like Me. Official vid ofc. Rock on St.Pie 🤣😜
Yes, In This Moment is AWESOME! (my personal favorite is Big Bad Wolf). :)
SHE IS AMAZING!!!!!
A swedish band with a canadian singer
💜🤘👍
Since you’re dig Arch Enemy with Alissa you might want to check out Reason To Believe. Love watching your facial expressions when you react.
I really enjoyed your reaction!!
I love arch enemy and I saw them live in October last year
You should listen to the song: Dark Insanity, from their debut album Black Earth, for me that’s the best song and the thickest one they’ve ever released with Johan Liiva as the vocalist, it’s got really dark, thick and powerful lyrics plus really deep growls!!😍🔥🤘🤘
Hell yeah! Check Wages of Sin. Ravenous.
Only my second time hearing them That was great.
Vừa vào đã nổi cả da gà 藍giọng a Phúc hayyy quá, mong sẽ tiếp tục cover ạ ❤️
You should definitely check out the band Setyoursails. I think you'd really dig them. Highly recommend their songs Ghosts and Nightfall 🤘
check out sacrimony live from kamelot if you want more alissa
@4:15 "YES"...... priceless
Alissa has brought AE into the mainstream, the band almost disbanded when Angela left so good job Alissa and Hail Satan
This is a great song, I still think that House of Mirrors is the best, just love the guitar in it.
Hi, love the vids from the UK!
If you've got a list of suggestions to work through I would love to see you listen to Loathe
Fast hectic metalcore with some wonderfully dreamy Deftones like sections
New Faces in the Dark is one of my absolute favourites of all time, Two-Way Mirror is a bit more accessible and conventional
😊
Check Out The Agonist - Swan Lake OP.20 if you want to hear her sing a capella
OK.... A little suggestion🎶:
I don't know if you already checked out their last album, named "will to power", it's a masterpiece!!!
But then you should at least react to their singles from "will to power", which are:
The Race; The Eagle Flies Alone (you already did that🖤) ; The World Is Yours; Reason To Believe...
Keep on with the great work Aileen👌😜
Btw i highly recommend first day in hell its definitely one of my favorites
Hey, I hope you'll check out Arch enemy with previous singer Angela. I recommend Under black flags we march, We will rise or something from live show 2008. from Tokyo like Burning angel, Nemesis or anything else, the whole show is amazing and brutal. I kind of like Alissa but I prefer Angela or Johan on vocals especially at live shows. 🍻🍻 🤟
Angela, Nemesis she rules the crowd in Japan
