I know, I thought about it but that next day was packed! My skin was actually very happy and not dehydrated or tight at all. After a few hours all those layers settled into my skin well, no congestion!
I woke up occlusive but super healthy and my skin felt great I peeled before layering on last night so I really went in thick with various Cereve moisturizers over hada labo light and a literal dot of rosehip oil. the Ceamides keep in the shower/hyaluronic acid moisture and yes a dot of aquaphor near the eyes or any problem areas is not bad at all. they key is a good night sleep
Hi Kelly I can't say I've ever felt overloaded with ceramides, but I do have extremely dry, menopausal, rosacea and eczema prone skin. I know I am unlikely to produce anywhere near enough ceramides of my own and tend to pile the various layers on - many of which do contain ceramides. I can use multiple layers without feeling suffocated and in fact really need to do so, to have any hope of waking up with comfortable skin. I found a super inexpensive serum with six ceramides in it and have added that in a few weeks ago to make sure I was getting enough, as we go into the colder weather (Creighton's ceramide serum - retails for around £3 here in the UK). Most of my other products do contain at least one ceramide and I use products that contain cholesterol and EFA's. Shea butter is an excellent ingredient for me at this time of year and urea is also essential for moisture retention. The weather here has changed - we had a very mild September here in Scotland, but October is cooler, wetter and windier (all things my skin objects to). I have upped my focus on moisture to compensate for these changes and my skin seems to be coping ok. Best wishes.
So true about multiple layers, some of us need many and our skin suffers without (and some of us need less and suffer with more)! Urea is fantastic. I've added that back in when skin feels itchy!
I just started implementing Stratia Liquid Gold into my routine..... Holy S***!! Talk about immediate results. When I first put it on my face, I looked in the mirror and said, "Oh yeah... We're friends for life!"
@@Opalescenttreeshark it’s really awesome. Just be aware, if you have really dry skin, you might need another moisturizer on top of that. But that’s ok, this product rocks 👌🤩
I'm also using the La Roche Possay cleanser but the European version of it has no ceramides in it, regretfully. Intuitively I've been ceramiding my face for the past week due to a damaged moisture barrier and my skin has never felt more relieved and felt better!
Thank you for recommending the RNW ceramide serum! ❤️ It is life👏changing👏 I had uncomfortably tight, red, raw-looking, dehydrated skin for _years_ and nothing worked. I tried every popular ceramide product in the US and a number of K-beauty ones (with ingredient lists I could tolerate). But now my skin has never looked or felt better--except maybe when I was a baby! It's plump, dewy, glowy, and I hardly break out anymore. Ahhhh, sweet relief.
I live in Texas, and we're going through that warm during the day and cooler at night right now, and my skin is craving hydration. I find myself putting on all my heavy and hydrating products at night and by the time I crawl into my bed, my skin has absorbed it beautifully and I wake up feeling fresh and glowy. This makes me want to try out the Liquid Gold even more. I already layer my moisturizer under a hydrating sleeping mask, so maybe that's something I can throw in now and again on extra dry nights.
Only started watching your videos about a month ago but I'm hooked. I'm also in the midwest and have dry, dehydrated skin, so your product reviews are just what I need. I just got my first K-beauty toner and am already loving it!
Very interesting experiment Kelly. I also noticed when you showed Avocado serum ingredients, the list had lavender stem/leaf extract. Not the same as lavender oil, but it surprised me to see you use it. I'm gonna guess different extraction method. Be safe and keep glowing ❤❤❤
Hey Kelly, on the off- chance you see this - that dryness around your mouth just might be caused/exacerbated by irritation from your toothpaste! You could try using a different, milder brand xx
Kelly - I found the Tonymoly Wonder Ceramide Mocchi Toner on Style Korean about two months ago and it has really helped my skin barrier. If you haven't tried it, I definitely recommend it. *Full disclosure - I have dry skin and am on Tretinoin 0.05%
my favourite korean face oil the face shop mango seed face moisurizing face oil does have ceramide in it and you reminded me that might be the reeason i liked it so much. I dont know if they still make this product because it's really hard to find. it hugs the skin the way no other oil does, smells devine and subtle. It's not irritating at all.
I think that you should try to take a video of the next day in the morning on waking up. I tried slugging in the tropical Southeast Asian summers with Cerave Moisturizing Cream on top of the essence, toner, emulsion and cream, and remember waking up with super smooth skin the next day.
I live in SEA region too. Your skin enjoy it differently than mine… if i try to lovebomb my skin too much it just doesn’t absorb it and develop milia after few days. 😅
Ugh yes the next morning was jam packed unfortunately. It was good results, the thick feeling settled after a few hours and I woke up without dehydration (which hadn't been the case for a few weeks). No congestion or breakouts and my skin seemed stronger for having done this but might need more experimenting to be sure.
@@KellyDriscoll my skin is mature combination skin in my mid-40's and I am really getting there now. Even despite the reduced sebaceous gland activity, I worry about getting clogged pores if I have too much oil on the skin. That's why I settle for using Cerave Moisturizing Cream to do the slugging instead of the Cerave Ointment. Oh, Eucerin Aquaphor Ointment works too but sparingly! Going to use it in the Korean winter when travelling this December.

The Kinship Oat Ceramide Relief Oil is supposed to have ceramides and I love that one! I don’t think it lists ceramides separately in the ingredients list but the brand says that oats naturally contain ceramides or something like that.

Hi Kelly! I've been wondering if you can over ceramide and over peptide. But assume most products aren't the 3.1.1 standard so hoping lots of layers with a little ceramide might get me close. I've recently tried the PC omega moisturiser you've mentioned on your channel and am in love. Gonna buy full size when I've used up some other products 😏
I'm quite ill and loved watching this video! I was hoping to see ilyoon atoderm too. Have you tried the inkey list ceramide overnight treatment? Would love a review.
Hey Kelly, recently binging your videos! I have a question: you mentioned often doing your skincare many hours before going to bed. I actually work PM shifts as a server in a restaurant, and don't get home before midnight/midnight and a half. I usually stay up until 1-2 AM to unwind, but I sometimes worry if my skincare isn't being absorbed properly since I usually go to sleep 30-60 min after applying it. What's your take?
I do my skincare as a way to mark the end of my work day and I do it when I know. I have the energy instead of waiting till the end of the night and rushing through. It's not really about absorbing so just do your skincare when it makes sense, your rest is way more important.
Hey Kelly, I watched lots of your content resently and some other videos on essences and I am confused. Some people say that best to apply actives immediately after clensing so that they have the highest chance to absorb into the skin. Others say that first essences would help with absorbtion, and you seem to believe that first we go for toners, essences and then actives. I wonder if your actives if you use any (peptides, vit C, antioxidants, retinol ) would even penetrate into your skin after several layers of toners and essences? I aLSO Saw Gothamista showing how she applies a thicker essene AFTER the actives, which seemed logical but also not sure if the essence then manage to go tghrough the actives:D. My question is does the first essence really help the foillowing serums to absorb or they would absorb better just on the skin after cleansinsg? also, DO YOU think using micellar water as a first cleanser instead of oil would be stripping the skin bareer? (using with cotton pads)?:) I hope yiu can advise, I am so confused:) thank yiuuu

You can absolutely use the 2 together, you don't need to worry about absorption as long as you go lightest texture to thickest and follow what your skin likes.
I would love to do this if my skin could absorb it well.. but most of the time, it would feel congested & develops milia if I put too many products/creams too often. 😅
