    The biggest thing to remember about collagen supplements is your body simply breaks it down to amino acids with you digest it( it does not stay as collagen). Hydrolyzed collagen is just more easily broken down. What your body then does with it is up to your body. It may become muscle.
    As long as you eat enough protein and have enough other vitamins and minerals it won't make a difference. If you don't eat enough protein you may see a difference. I've tried it. But scientifically it doesn't make any sense.

    Thank you for talking about supplements! I will always be against the use of supplements, because some of the ingredients have adverse effects. Especially if it has biotin, because that can change blood results, so thyroid issues or even heart attacks cannot be diagnosed by blood tests. So supplements with biotin could be very dangerous. Sorry for making this unrelated point on this video, but it grinds my gears that people are still told by companies selling these pills that it can't hurt, while it most definitely can.

      You’re very right! I don’t know why they put biotin in anything. I’ve had a thyroid issue for a few years and last time I went to my dr to get my thyroid meds refilled and my blood tested, because I had taken a biotin supplement, it showed basically that my thyroid was fine and my dr refused to refill my levothyroxine! It was awful! I needed to wait a month without my meds and go back and make her retest me once the biotin crap wore off. Ugh and biotin’s never done anything for me. A dht blocker for hair growth and healthy eating is much better

    I use a tretinoin on my face (brand name Altreno, 0.05%), but I looovvveee Stratia's Night Shift for my neck and eyelids. I use only a teeny bit on my lids. Who wants saggy, wrinkly lids, you know? And it's such an amazingly gentle retinol product that it has never ONCE irritated my eyes or my neck.

    I’ve read that retinal is actually better than retinol so that’s also something to look at. I’ve been using prescription Tretinoin for several years and still from time to time.

    • @ixchel231
      @ixchel231 Рік тому

      Yes, it is better, it only takes in your skin 1 step vs 2 steps with retinol for your skin to utilize it. Tretinoin doesn't need any steps in your skin for conversion and that's why it's the strongest but you need to start low dosage and slowly.

    I’m on tretinoin and I use that with sunscreen, niacinamide and lha so I should be set. Also some of my serums have peptide. I have albinism so I’m sensitive to the sun so this combo helps prevent damage and reverse existing structure. That being said I have a connective tissue disorder that messed with my collagen. Also preventing inflammation helps prevent your skin from chewing up your collagen.

      It's still an issue of your body knowing exactly where to put that collagen to use. Cell communicating ingredients are far more efficient at this. Collagen is awesome at hydrating and moisturizing the skin though!

    Dear Kelly, I very much enjoy your content and trust your judgement. But here is one thing that you probably don't know and I would probably like to deep in: It has been proven in studies (go to PubMed) that DMAE is toxic to skin cells causing premature cell apoptosis. Initially there is swelling of the tissue (what we perceive as plumped up skin). And it surely does (I have tried the Rewind Serum before finding out about DMAE). My skin felt immediately very firm and plump. And think about it: if it has such an immediate and obvious effect, why is this ingredient not being used by big, reputable cosmetic companies? Kind regards, Maya
