There is an asthetic reason for watch makers not to use sapphire crystal with vintage remakes/homages. There is a vintage look that comes with acrylic. It is less "flashy" and adds a unique element to how the dial is experienced.
Birthday is coming and will be buying this watch on the bracelet for myself! So beautiful! Goes to show a watch doesn’t need to break the bank to be amazing!!
As for my thoughts on Timex, well I haven't really thought much about them since I first started buying $100+ watches. But this is a really nice looking watch. And seems to have a very appealing price. I think the price is perfect to have them sell well without people regretting their decision later. It is a solid watch for $200. I think I would prefer it without the date, if since it does have the date, I think they did it well. The right placement and I like the way they cut the date window. It looks very nice. Having a battery last 5 years is a great plus too. Overall I would have no problem buying this watch with a $200 price tag. Thanks for showing it and cheers.
I have a small collection of vintage watches including a 70’s Timex which is in great condition and still runs! And therein lies the rub. Of all the old Timex’s I purchased this is the only runner. I get their market position, and their questionable quality record, but damn, they can produce interesting looking watches. Thanks for featuring this one.
This is a nice one. My dad was a big Timex fan. I've been generally disappointed with Timex re-releases, quality was below what one would expect for the price. I haven't held this one so maybe it's better. 2 of my chronos, an Orient jdm panda, looks like this, and a Pulsar Solar are both 44mm, I have a 39mm also but I do think bigger is better for a chronograph, but my 8.1“ wrist might influence that opinion. I agree on the fingerprint issue. If it's not a smartwatch, why would you be touching it? I will have a look at this in my local seller but I'm a bit iffy about the acrylic. For $200 they could easily put a sapphire on it. The Epson is an Orient movement as it's in mine. And I suspect it's really a VK63 movement rebranded because it looks exactly the same inside. I know it's hard to tell with a quartz but it probably makes sense that it's the same one as Epsom is of course the parent company of both Seiko and Orient. I don't mind no lume as the lume is usually not great on this type of watch anyway. Thanks for the excellent review George!
I have this watch and so far it has been great. My friend thought I had bought a TAG..when he found it was a Timex he wanted one. Great review, thanks again.
Nice review on the Timex chrono . I pulled the trigger and got the metal bracelet version . $150 after tax Amazon . Only gripe I have is plastic crystal and quartz . For the price you are right . I prefer reliability over Chinese movements that are hit n miss . Times is local , phonecall away . I sport mine on a mesh bracelet to have micro adjustability for summer . Cool research of the vintage marlin with funky numbers . You are the only review that pointed that out .
Hi there Fred! Thanks a million for the support and the comment! As far as 8'm aware the crystal is acrylic so worst case scenario you can just buff it out but I do agree with you on the reliability part! I never seem to hold on to Chinese watches as long!
The thing with scratches on an acrylic crystal is that they look far less worse than on a mineral The mineral has sharp edges that show up far harsher than acrylic I find. But then, I own many vintage watches and what acrylic brings is a certain warmth to a dial that makes it look much more beautiful I feel
Man i looked another version TW2W60300 of this series but its not listed on website but i saw this on version on some website it look gorgeous.....do you recommend to take from other website or should i go for silver one?
Fantastic watch .retro yet dress . Timex is doing what Swatch should be up to .
Why didn't I mention that in the video?? 😂 You're so right though. Thanks again for the comment and support.

Ben's watches cracked open the back and said it is a mecha quartz . A variation . So pretty and like the vintage Carrera . Affordable .

Hi Micheal! Yeap .. fully agree, they got a really good balance on budget and looks. Timex is in fire with this!

I love Timex.
Nice video! May I know your wrist size?

Nice, Mr G, but I prefer my Fossil collection.
Thanks for the comment and support Sorin! Why do you prefer it, because it's bigger in size ? :))
Not a fan of polished sub hands against a black background.
