So Jewel feels like being a successful musician is honoring her grandmother’s sacrifice.

Both very talented women and similar backgrounds as children all be it different places but both grew up in relative poverty and had to work hard just to live and then struck out in there own at a young age and became successful. My father passed about two months ago, this song hits hard. Music was a huge deal in our family - still very different from this setting, since we are Latino… but it is still relatable. Ultimately, they are all our parents. Thanks to their hard work and sacrifice I’m living a life they could have only dreamed of. This is one that always moves me to tears. Miss you, dad. ❤
