My sister had one that has been sitting sitting for years so I decided to take it and try to fix it up. We got most of it done but we have to replace the rear axle and see if anything else back there is rutted.
I had a 2006 250ex that was black and I had sunf tires, power madd handguards, and tusk nerf bars. I liked it but I wanted a 2001-2005 model because the trans on the newer ones are kinda screwy. Hopefully I can talk to my dad about selling my rancher and getting a really really mint obs 250ex. Trying to get a red one but yellow looks pretty sick too
They really are a nice quad, i used to have one but it wasnt fast enough for me though. I had a problem with the battery terminals unconnecting when i jumped it. Nice quad.
@@mta.reddit8288 I had a 2001 aswell, if you have the proper size battery it slots into the plastics and keeps it still. My'n came with an improper size battery when I bought it and it kept popping off.
Hey, I'm likening the content and I'm thinking about creating a channel based on riding my 250ex and I was wanting to know what camera setup you using? Thanks!!
Hey bro , when u gearing down , do u shift it or do you just gear down like that? And when u gear up do u shift to , was wondering cause I saw it on other videos different, just asking?
It's got a clutch but it's a semi automatic you use the clutch to go into first gear your don't have to use it taking off and switching gears but I would so you get the hang of using a clutch if you are looking for a better beginner quad this would be it then move to a 300ex the a 400ex or trx450r or do a Stage to Hot Cam Bore
I just bought one form my uncle for 800 bucks took the carb apart cleaned it and did oil change and spark plug and fired right up. But idk how the shifting is suppose to be is it 1 down is 1st gear and 4 up or is it just 4 up and down is reverse if you hit the button on the brake lever. At first I was trying to look this up but I cant find nothing on this and at first thinking my first gear is out and I need a new clutch?
Good that means my first gear isnt out lol. Thanks.. now I gotta figure out is my reverse works. Yours has reverse right I have 01 trx250ex. I think they the same all the way to 2006..
These things 4 wheel drive or only rear? Dumb queation i know bur ive probably only ever riden a four wheeler or dirt bike for less than an hour my whole life so idk. Thinking getting a 250X.
@@cwoutdoors4522 Really? What does the sport clutch do then? I noticed you weren't really using the clutch in the video so I figured they are one in the same.
CW Outdoors I’ve heard differences with the 400 and 450, yes I think or heard it has more power, and is faster, but I have what I think is a 2001 model, somewhere in first generation of the 400exs years, it’s been through two owners now including me, but over the years the bike has had to have some over head or power tuning, just replaced the timing change, new top end and a stock piston, and the power it out puts is unbelievable for its age, the ex’s paved the path for today’s power sport atvs, strong, great power, and reliable, that’s any Honda really, but the ex’s have my vote left field anyday all day.
Yeah the 400s are amazing too. I’ll probably end up getting an early model 450 and like a 2009 and up year 400ex, well it’s technically called the ‘400x’ but same thing. You can’t go wrong with any Honda like you said. They are all beasts in their own respects
Amazing video, I have a 2003 250ex and it’s a lot of fun.
What a great piece of property to ride on!
I just got one from 2006 with immaculate plastics that runs and everything works for 700. I'm excited.
Oooo Where Did You Find??
My sister had one that has been sitting sitting for years so I decided to take it and try to fix it up. We got most of it done but we have to replace the rear axle and see if anything else back there is rutted.
I had a 2004 250ex it is the best quad I have ever owned.
Mines 2002 makes it up any hill 😂
You just got a new subscriber keep it up dude 👍

Whats wrong with the trans
Just got a 2005 trx 250ex putting new carb in tomorrow
First😂.....sorry I had to say it. Keep up the good content! Didn’t even watch the video yet but I know I’ll enjoy it.
Hey thanks so much for the support glad you enjoyed it!

Thank ya sir
I have the same problem with mine mines a 2001 did you fix it

My starter cylanoid just went out or it's the wires
Very basic fix and pretty inexpensive. You could most likely repair by yourself
Hey, I'm likening the content and I'm thinking about creating a channel based on riding my 250ex and I was wanting to know what camera setup you using? Thanks!!
I’m using a GoPro hero 5. I’ll make a video shoot on all the setting and where I mount it soon👍
My 07 is definitely different you cant go past 2nd gear without pulling in the clutch for the last 3 gears
Hey bro , when u gearing down , do u shift it or do you just gear down like that?
And when u gear up do u shift to , was wondering cause I saw it on other videos different, just asking?
I rev match on downshifts, this quad doesn’t have a clutch so you just gotta use the foot shift
Seems like a fun quad for in the woods.
definitely
I got 7 Acer's it is
Miss my 04. Could wheelie for days all the way well into third gear
I miss mine a ton
Great video. Sounds like you are getting a little backfire through the carb though at certain points in the vid.
I solved that by taking the air filter cover off and running an open box
@@cwoutdoors4522 noice 🤘🏼
My son has one of these how do he wheelie with out a clutch. Is it all about the strength and pulling the bike up help🤦🏽♂️👍👍👍
Should have enough power to pop it up
A 70 wheelies
I got a trx 90 been riding for 4 5 years looking for a upgrade does the 250 have a clutch or no I'm either thinking about getting a 250ex or a 300

With the auto clutch do you need to get off the gas to shift?
Yes!
I have the same quad in some of my videos

It’s just 5 up and 5 down, and it’s semi auto, no clutch needed
Good that means my first gear isnt out lol. Thanks.. now I gotta figure out is my reverse works. Yours has reverse right I have 01 trx250ex. I think they the same all the way to 2006..
Yes you’re right
These things 4 wheel drive or only rear? Dumb queation i know bur ive probably only ever riden a four wheeler or dirt bike for less than an hour my whole life so idk. Thinking getting a 250X.
Rear wheel only
I have a question what gear do you use to do a wheelie
1st in this video but check out other videos. I use 2nd and 3rd on those
How tall are you ? I’m looking into getting one but idk if it’s too small
5’11” it can feel cramped on super long rides but it fits fine
What gear you use to pop wheelies🤔
Started in 1st or 2nd and once I got better I’d shift to 3rd mid wheelie
I have the same exhaust on my 2001 honda 300ex
No, the clutch is optional, you can use it or you don’t have to use it
Correct! However they did not offer the optional clutch lever in this generation!
@@cwoutdoors4522 ohhhh, I thought it was for all years but I’m guessing just the ‘06 and up
Yes I believe you are correct there! I wish mine had had it!
Made sure to share like etc...this ryan
Top speed test would be nice
Will do!
What would be a good price for a used like new one my frien wants to sell me one for 2000 is that a high price or low
Average price right now is around $2500 so I think that’d be an alright deal considering the market right now
CW Outdoors thanks for the help just bought it can’t wait to ride
The only problem with those that I have found is that if you get mud in the rear drums it eats breaks all the time and mud gets in pretty easy somehow
The previous owner took it apart and sealed it with something better, hopefully it works. I had that same problem with my old Suzuki quad runner
That quad is not bad at all
No it’s quite good for it’s displacement and design! Very reliable
For whoever checked comments heres a short cut 7:15
do you have a stock exhaust?
No it’s a pro circuit t4
@@cwoutdoors4522 what website did you get it off of, because that thing sounds beast!
Haha unfortunately they don’t sell that kind anymore but you might be able to find one used
i have the same thing
I was about to buy a sweet minty 2003 from my hometown city in az now im praying I find another guy sold it from under me 😔🙏
Man! There will be plenty of opportunities to come up! You’ll find one!
This is the same motor that's in the Recon... It's virtually the same quad as the recon just different plastics.
Nearly, gearing is different and the head is quite different than that of the recon
What’s the top speed?
50mph
👍🏾💯🇬🇧👍🏾💯🇬🇧👍🏾
are they 2x4 or 4x4?
2x4

I thought they didn't start doing the auto clutch until 2006?
Yeah you’re probably right
@@cwoutdoors4522 Are you sure yours is a 2004? I could be wrong but a lot of other videos I've watched said 2006 is when they introduced it.
Yeah mine is a 2004, I don’t have the sport-clutch
There is a different between an auto-clutch and a sport clutch
@@cwoutdoors4522 Really? What does the sport clutch do then? I noticed you weren't really using the clutch in the video so I figured they are one in the same.
how much you weight
175LB
Is tnat a semi auto
Yes
He is talking about them growing in value (and he's right) but I'm about to get one for free from my uncle
How much do u guys get these for used????
Older ones are around 2k
Ohhh thanks bro
Just picked up a 2001 today for 500.00 runs and rides good. Gonna clean it up and sell it for 1500
You guys must not live in California because where I live they sell between $2, 500 and 3,500 for a 2004 model used.
We are in Michigan
Can it hold a plow?
With a good set of rear tires yes
@@cwoutdoors4522 and is it automatic
Semi auto, you still have to shift but don’t use a clutch lever
@@cwoutdoors4522 thank you. I’m new to this and want to get into it.
No problem! It’s a great hobby with endless fun
I have literally the EXACT same quad, It I'd a lot of fun bug wish it had a big more speed like the yfz 450 quads.
I agree I want a 450 really bad. I’ll probably get one in a few years
