Man. I fancied Russell (Andrew Hall) when this was first on. I still do. One of my best mates and I used to drool over him. Then we saw him in Mama Mia (stage) and met him afterwards. We told him we watched Butterflies when it was first on and he said we didn't look old enough! He was absolutely gorgeous and so sweet.
This is my all time favorite British comedy. It came on before I was born but I saw it on reruns here in the United States. It was also the first one I saw Nicholas Lyndhurst in...thank you so much.
***** Yes, you have a number of people here who love it, as well as your "mysteries" and movies. Your actors are very talented, as well as your writers. Some people don't "get it" I guess because our humor is much more "in your face", but most people do. I think the international following of your humor is why they had Rowan Atkinson at the 2012 Summer Olympics. I don't think Mr. Bean is the best character that he does, but ppl love him, the actor & British comedy in general, the world over.
Even though I was probably too young for some of it growing up watching BBC comedy of this era - Agony, The Secret Life of Reginald Perring, Rising Damp, Fairly Secret Army, Fawlty Towers, The Good Life, etc was a real privilege because it was funny, complex and intelligent and acted by some brilliant comedians.
I love, love ,love this classic comedy, the full episodes was once uploaded but I don't know what happened to them, can someone please upload the full series or episodes for me,I will appreciate it a MILL!!!!!!!!!
Why didn't BBC make more of the Butterflies series? Such a brilliant comedy which i have re-watched again and again. I bought all the episodes so that i could watch them whenever i like. Everything about this comedy series was great, the actors, the characters, the story line and the things their characters said. I think this comedy, Fools and Horses, Terry and June, Some Mother's Do Have Them and Goodnight Sweetheart were the best comedies ever made. I know they make new comedies but i am just not interested like those comedies. The actors and actresses from this comedies were/are the best and i cant bring myself to watch anything else.
Complete waste of time. Comedy should come from characters...this lot...with the exception of Geoffrey Palmer... are simply not believable. Like every Lane comedy.

RIP Geoffrey Palmer.
Oh, and this is one of the lovely, rare tender moments that Ben has - what a shame it's so brief! C'mon Ria, he loves you!
I have the entire series on dvd. God wasn't Nicholas Lyndhurst thin back then, and I thought I was skinny back then lol.
I remember watching this around my parents Monday evenings (I think) Highlight of the night and the next day we all used to talk about it at school.
