That catch on the design and the change is genius. I envy people who have an eye for that stuff. My brain just sees all the gaps filled with tape and is like "Done! It's wide bodied now!" but you made the character of the car speak through those fenders so much more. Bravo
It's TTC! I love when I catch my favorite channels watch one another.
@@DankoleClouds didnt expect to see TTC here. love em. they do so much good testing
I agree. It’s gonna be a show stopper!
I remember him catching something like that on one of the Lamborghini builds. His eye for design is incredible..
Yup, I was like "yeah thats a bit nitpicky" and then I saw the end result and was like "Yeah, he was right, that looks way better"
I do custom composite work like this. A great trick is put aluminum foil over the tape, and you can remove the whole under structure. Works like a reverse plug. Love the build!!
That's a fantastic tip actually!
Why not just spray it with mould release?
@@rallycsx the tape isn’t a perfectly flat, non porous, so the pva won’t coat everything. If you run foil, you can flatten it out and the resin doesn’t stick.
Also, resin/fiberglass will not stick to clean plastic surface. On boat i often prepare a piece of fiber on a layer of plastic sheet before placing it in place on the boat with the plastic facing outside. Once it's cured the plastic sheet just peel away and you are left with a pretty clean/shiny fiberglass surface.
@Jbellz
Good idea , I used packing tape over the blue tape works great as well!
these blue tape timelapses were some of the most satisfying
buddy
ya like cars ?
THE GUY BECOMES COOLER DAY BY DAY
Holy shit High Boi?? Absolutely love ur stuff
Oh shit it's the High Boi
Lets go, High boi is also a Car boi
Dude what?! Why are u here?!😍
This build, and the production quality of recent episodes is amazing. The tunes are on point, and I am loving Chris's energy output, positivity. Oscar, as per usual, is killing the fab work! This guys skills overall are seriously impressive. Would be good to see some film on the rest of your team and their contributions. You all kick a$$ !!!
Good call with the back fenders. Excited to see you pull this off!
I use a similar technique for widebodies/flares/sub boxes...except I stretch spandex over the skeleton and just brush the spandex with resin so it tightens and hardens before I lay the glass fibre down.
So do they leave the tape underneath and just let time do its thing, or is there another episode where they remove it?
"As you can see it, it, it's not there..." 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That got me
Looks incredible guys. Just one tip from a guy who built fiberglass Humvees for military training simulators. Spend a couple extra minutes with the brushes and pound those air bubbles out between laminations and the whole layup will be massively stronger. Also a quick scuff with 40-80 grit helps each layer bond to the previous. You guys can obviously make anything!
Greetings from Germany🇩🇪, your videos are awesome.👍🏻
The angles of the front archs are giving me major 60's Stingray vibes, its an interesting look combining it with the Mustang.
Amazing work as always, really makes me want to try something like this myself!
Hey just a FYI to help with crafting. If you spead some wax on a flat surface. When the wax dries you can lay a sheet of fiberglass on it with resin. When it dries you have flexible fiber sheets you can cut an shape by hand
Bro.. I love this channel. The creativity, ingenuity and passion you guys display is infectious. I can not wait to see this build. Well done gentlemen!
This channel and the Mustang whose name shall never be mentioned got me through most of the COVID lock down!
This tape method is genius! Really gets the gears turning in my mind for my Dodge Magnum project.
It's awesome as a relatively new car guy to learn new things. Making my own body kit has always been a dream of mine but since I have never been building any kind of stuff on my own I do not yet have the intuition to figure out techniques like demonstrated on this video myself. Learning new shit is cool.
Fixing the rear that little bit made a WORLD of difference. Great eye for detail.
Your guys adjustment to the width of the rear
Was just what you needed 👌looks awesome
Gotta use a roller dipped in acetone to get those bubbles out of the fiberglass. It will much stronger and save you days of bodywork. Available at any composite shop.
Very cool project, keep after it!
^^THIS^^!!!😊
18:22 i just fell in love with that three-quarters look instantly! Looking good boys!
Wow. The difference in the look of that thing just by lowering it!! Awesome
Good call on the rear fenders. This is starting to look like the bat-mobile mustang. Way cool!
I love when channels ACTUALLY go through the process, including the mishaps along the way. I am looking to do this to an Oldsmobile Cutlass Coupe that my dad gave me the remains of 😂
I love the new plan to follow the rendering, looks so sick!
ive said it before and i'll say it again, using fleece and fibreglass resin...!! you can do each section one at a time and fleece over the top works... some curves you use the aircraft material and some bits use the fleece...! anyways loving the progress x
Your fab table kills me ahaha! With everything you have and a giant warehouse. You use a plastic folding table as a fab/welding table and some cheap tools! Such a bad ass build
100% agree on adding the width. It’s looking epic.
The rear fender looks Much better after changing the line from the top!! Good job and good eye!
great call on those rear fenders, they look great. u guys are kicking ass on that build !!!!!
Front fenders are giving me c3 corvette vibes and i love it!
I thought it was the 70's quarter window that made the rendering look so much better than I could ever imagine a 67 body being but I'm starting to think a lot of it came down to that ledge you just added, it's IMMENSELY better, and more authentic. Very nicely done 🤗
Love that you are trying this technique for fabricating the body again, it makes what seems to be a totally impossible task accessible with the application of familiar materials.
This body kit looks wild BTW. Good job boys.
This is outstanding. I wish I would have known about the aircraft material when I started my build on my '71 Mustang. I did use a lot of tape on the console build. A few of the guys at the military craft shop could not believe I used tape and cardboard to build it. Right now it is sitting under my carport gathering dust. I can't complete the build due to my back issue. You are breaking my heart seeing how you guys make it look so easy. Keep it going.
I know all about deadlines working in the classic car industry, but man I can't imagine trying to tackle a crazy build like this with that short deadline that you have. You are flat killing it though!
Automotive designer here. What you're doing with the tape and constructing the planes is actually similar to what we would normally do in Clay on the cars. The only downside I can see is that you're not able to get as much sculpture or crown in the surfaces. I would just give a little caution to letting the fenders have a negative curvature. Always try to be positive in fullness to look stronger. The Pull out of the belt to shoulder line was pretty cool! It's crazy to see the 3D steel lattice work; almost like you're 3D modelling in person.
Good call on the rear hips. Widening that body line makes a huge difference.
Mustang Stingray :D I think it would really be cool to integrate functional air intakes in the rear fenders, since this is a mid engine mustang.
Looking amazing guys... The body kit is looking like a 1972 corvette stingray
Front 1/4s are for sure
It’s amazing how quickly you guys knocked that out. And that method of structure…..brilliant!!
huge fan from brazil ,been following channel since the GTR and you guys make the best projetcs .. PEACE!
Hell yeah! It's looking really good so far.
The car looks great 👍 looking forward to seeing it when it's finished.
That's the coolest widebody Kit ive ever seen.
Great job on the widebody and that wider hip thing you did was the right move
Scam
Because of your videos.. im getting out of truck driving and goin into auto body tech field
Dude, the flow of the plastic shrink is killer. The tape works, no doubt, just... it's so much work, and.. meh too late now.
Killer project. can't wait to see more.
Loving this Wide Body Kit, it will be one of the best looking 67 mustangs out there! ✌😎
Pumped to see y'all found one local for cheap, that's best-case for sure!
Awesome concept, love you cut the 1/4s to widen them first, looks 1,000,000x better. Good luck!
Was just watching your truck episode ! Then this came along !
6:10 now that's an insane view
We need a longer video showing the glass fibre process in real time please 🙏🥳🤩👍🏼
It might help with the fabric to use an iron instead of the heat gun. You make several passes at increasing temps. It would help to be able to control the shrinking of the fabric a little more. That is how they do it in aviation at least.
Y’all making hard work look easy!!
I want to make an all metal wide body-ish kit for a 4th gen 4runner and the skeleton that you made gave me some great ideas for a template.
I never really comment but man you and your team just amazes me with your knowledge and skills just always amazed and cant stop watching your builds
Ones again Oscar taking care business what I love is the people behind curtain that’s making the the build look unique
These kind of projects are why I love this channel
Awesome the wide body, it gives a mean look to the Mustang 👍
I just love watching Oscar doing what he does best, what a master fabricator
i was skeptical on the “hips” widening until i saw the original design next to the widened version, that looks 10x better good stuff dude. can’t wait to see the final productttt
Again, Oscar did everything. You are the choreographer and money guy
Moving that main body line made this project imo 💚
Can't wait to see it when it's done, hopefully I see it cruising around the mean streets of Portland!
You going the extra mile, looks fantastic and it is so worth👍😁😁👍👍👍
Great episode… loved that you were faithful to the design (even though it looked like a PITA to start again)!
That was educational to see and get a basic understanding of how a widebody is made
This wide-body series simply is fascinating. You guys are impressive. Chris is awesome at explaining the thought process. Truly looking forward to the next episode!
Love the afterthought change to the body kit! Made it look so much better, Great work!
As always, it is great to see your design mind and Oscar's metal talents at work. It looks as though you will have minimal ground clearance, however. Tire rubbing is no fun.
I wish I could go to SEMA, but I live in Australia and the budget won't stretch that far! So I'll just have to enjoy it on video.
Looking forward to seeing this build progress.
That was a great call and the top edge on the rear looking amazing keep trucking
This is my 1st comment on UA-cam ever and it's because you said what you said about widening the hips on the Mustang That's why I watch this channel So no matter what the result its still gonna look d*** good
The Mustang is coming along prudently can't wait to see it finished and then see you drive the Beast lol
I'm following you guys now for a pretty long time.. that been said I've never been more curious how this build and especially the wide body is going to look like when it's completed... you guys nailed it again!! Love this build
I don't know what color you were going to paint the car but the blue (at 26:00) of the tape on the right rear quarter seems perfect.
Love that you added the "Hips" on the car 👍🏻
Such a crucial catch and fix. Nice work. ******Would LOVE to see more of Oscar and the crew shaping those bends in the wire. Is that possible? *******. We learn so much from your explanations and what we see, but there's a lot of craftsmanship that gets glossed over, not that I can blame you with the schedule! But maybe Oscar does a segment on his own? I can see a spin off similar to the Wizard some day once you find a replacement?
Brilliant 👏
I thought i was mad for sticking tape then fiberglassing over it as base/support nice 👌
🤩 damn that’s some project Chris, I’m really looking forward to seeing how you create the body kit as I have bumpers that I’d like to create 👌🏻
100% agree on rear quarter body line!! so much better
as you apply the resin with a brush you should use a small roller to squeeze out the air bubbles, I could see you're full of air pockets, this will create more work later when it dries
👆👆Congratulations you’re shortlist among the winner today use the telegram handle above to DM…
I personally do really like that little extra curvature in the rear flares. I know it’s not exactly to render but it adds a little bit more extra definition and attitude to the hips
Love these vids!!! Lee them coming! Thanks for the update on “B is for boat” can’t wait to watch this one!!!
Love the imagination you guys have building!!!! Looks like a jet !
Damnit man, You put ideas in my head and motivate me to try and do what you guys do. I already have enough projects but guess i will have to start another one, Thank you gentlemen and excellent work
Heck yah ! This channel just gets better and better. You Videos are dope good sir. 👍
Insane! You guys are SO creative!! Unreal!
It's been so awesome watching you learn how to do all this from scratch in just a few years.
👆👆Congratulations you’re shortlist among the winner today use the telegram handle above to DM…
Great decision on the wider rear
Great idea to widen the arch. looks much better.
Good call on the rear fender body line.
Looking fantastic gang. Can't wait to see the finished product. It's going to be wild.
Music you have reminds me of incubus and or tool. So now I have to listen to these albums again. Thanks. Great work guys. Love your content.
Looking good love the lines. Two layers would be plenty. As far as resin adhering to metal 😬 it will stay for awhile. Any body flex will probably cause a release over time.
This is one of my favorite videos you have posted in a long time. Really got my brain going on what car I want to do a crazy wide body on 😂
Man to see this stuff and see it in one vid. 😊😊. You guys are doin great
You guys are crazy. Thank you!
Might need air suspension so that you have that stationary stance while still being able to drive it at a little higher ride height
Cant wait to see it done, love to see twin turbos or supercharged
Loving this Stang! Grate job!
Scam
This thing is going to look insane
