Yeah I noticed the same too and it makes me so sad tbh. I know Korean beauty standards prefer paler skin (which is terrible) but its always such a discouraging thing to see frequently
Discoloration and darkening of skin and lip color happens when dehydrated or when your liver etc health isn't great. So the color of her complexion can be seemed as healthy since it's her natural color. The before weren't tan. Tanned skin can be healthy too. But you need to be aware that korean skin are more pale naturally and most people generally don't like to tan much because of the uv rays, not because we don't like dark skin. We don't want freckles age spot or to speed up the aging process. Often why the people nowadays look much younger at age 40~50 than twenty years when they had a lot of time in the sun and lack of sunblock use
Hi Allison! I suffer from allergies and dermatitis so my skin is usually dry and dull. My pigmentation is more on the grayish yellow side like hers before her treatments but on my legs, chest and feet I’m pale as she is now on her face. Unfortunately I have that strange color also on my stomach and in part of my back. It’s the result of iperpigmentation from dermatitis and my health in general. So I don’t think everyone is gonna experience the same result or even the bleaching. Don’t worry and just treat your skin based on your needs rather than other people ones. I think you need to use an essence or hydrating toner before cream if you don’t already. I have used Sulhwasoo brightening water and it really makes a difference in how my face looks and feels with the addition of my usual face cream . The only reason I have not bought it again is it’s price. Plus I like it that it does not have hyaluronic acid .
I found out tip #1 (switching up cleanser routine) by chance last year, and it pretty much resolved my previous winter dehydration/flaking issues. I used to use cleansing gel morning and night, but switched to using just micellar water instead of cleanser in the mornings. That actually solved my issue after a week :) I eventually found an extremely gentle milky cleanser , so I’m back to using a cleanser in the mornings now (la Roche posay toleraine hydrating cleanser, aka caring wash in some countries). Just started using vitamin C in the mornings, so gonna see how that goes. Thanks for all the tips Soo! Definitely going to try all of them.

Something I’d like to include, if acne is a big problem for you, DO NOT pick pimples or anything. Ik if you have a bad habit of doing it it’s gonna be really hard not to, but you gotta try real hard. I have that problem rn, try not touching your acne for a week to 2 weeks to see that not picking really has an affect. I have a hard time convincing myself to stop so I try doing that, maybe that can help other ppl.

Congratulations on having coveted glass skin! While I am middle aged and lack the genetics for tiny pores, I have still made tremendous progress with my skin care routine. I tend to be aggressive with glycolic acid and home microneedling, and my skin is glowey now, although it will never look like yours no matter how hard I try. I find that there is a fine line between exfoliating to get glow and over doing it and ending up with a compromised skin barrier. I have heard that Korean skin care focuses more on gentle products used over a long time period, since childhood, even. I am used to frying and poking my skin into submission with acid and microneedling! The upside is that when I develope a spot of seborrheic keratosis, I don't hesitate to burn it off with acid. My philosophy is that you have to suffer for beauty.
this is exactly what I need right now, winter in korea is so harsh! My dry skin is even drier to the point where the skin on my chin occasionally flaking and my cheek sometimes get itchy! Whatever moisturizing skincare products I apply my skin still feels dry...😭
@@bellzo7451 Nooooo don't use coconut oil. It's comodogenic and can seriously clog your pores and damage your skin. If you want to hydrate your skin, try the Laniege Cream Skin toner, it's amazing for dry skin, and then top it off with a hydrating moisturiser, like ones from Laniege, Tatcha or Glow Recipe. Make sure you're exfoliating with a gentle AHA exfoliator twice a week, like the Krave Beauty Kale-lu-yaha, which will massively help hydrating products actually get into your skin and remove the dead skin cells that could be causing your skin to be drier. If you really need it, a hydrating serum is extremely helpful, there's some amazing ones from CosrX and Glow Recipe that you could try. And make sure your cleanser is hydrating, the one from Krave Beauty is really good but there's plenty on the market to look out for. Good luck!
@@self_lovecare Oh no! I feel you, I've had to deal with a damaged skin barrier too. You want to take it right back to the basics: Cleanse with a very gentle hydrating cleanser (again I recommend the Krave Beauty one), Moisturise with a gentle hydrating moisturiser with no active ingredients (I recommend the Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Water Cream, it's been magic for getting my skin back to normal), and sunscreen. If your skin is extra damaged, leave off the sunscreen and only add it back when your skin can handle it. Don't exfoliate, don't use any active ingredients, and don't change up your routine. Keep it simple and consistent for 1-2 months and see how your skin is going. If you can afford it, I really recommend getting an enzyme facial treatment. They're expensive but they massively helped my skin get back to the way it should be. You're meant to do 6 sessions but I could only afford 2, but it's still been really effective. Check out Liah Yoo's videos on skin barrier repair, she's got some great tips and product recommendations. Good luck!
try hydrating serums plus one tip before u sleep apply rose water and alo gel on your face finishing with lil bit of vaselline on very dry areas or the best is u can also apply some butter(non salted )/fresh milk cream . trust me these milk products wont do any harm to your skin and i personally swear by them .. pls share the results too
Surprisingly unni all your tips are something I had been doing for a long time. To remove my makeup/ sunscreen I use a milk cleanser for eye makeup I prefer micellar cleansing water though rest I do believe that following this will help strengthen the skin barrier. I have seen a great change in my skin and skin barrier after I changed my routine. I think this video of yours will benefit a lot of people who are suffering from damaged skin barrier or maybe just want to improve their skincare routine for the better. I am always thankful to you unni for making such educational and necessary videos. Love you 😍😍
Is cleaning milk enough to remove sunscreen? I don't wear makeup every day, but I use a cleansing oil because I want to remove my SPF The Paula's Choice BHA is my holy grail, it has kept acne away from my face for a few years now
I also find a lot of cleansers to be really stripping. So instead of a cleansing oil I often just use argan oil. I massage my face for a while and I can feel all the dirt loosening, then I thoroughly rinse my face and pat dry. Not all the oil will be removed, that might sound like a bad thing but it's been super helpful for my dry skin! Also if I am wearing makeup I do also use a little bit of super gentle gel cleanser .

So you can actually feel dry after using cleansing oil??? All this while I was thinking why is my skin so dry and uncomfortable after I’ve used oil. But I really love how it cleans my pores and makes my skin smooth 🥺

My skin is helpless since this mask wearing thing started. I also live in Korea, and the mask is a must everywhere. I pray the day when we won't need them comes fast!
What helped me a lot is to put antibacterial ingredients on my lower face in the morning, it really worked out, the inflammations stopped really quick, now I'm fully acne-free :)

As a person with combination sensitive skin. I relate to this video a lot. My skin now after washing my face feels so tight and even after putting on moisturizers also. I use la roche posay and cera ve and after consistently using those companies products I realized I need to change my skincare routine. I feel like la roche posay cleanser has a very strong scent and i don’t like it at all and cera ve burns my skin. I wanna try Korean skincare so i might do that but i would still love tips to help my skin. 😅
Honestly, I think this video is misleading. With skin care, you can get rid of some problems and improve your skin texture, but even though, you apply all the active ingredients in the world to your face, you can't still lighten your skin color that much. It is very sad that people watch this video and hope for nothing. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and you don't have to be fair-skinned to be beautiful.
Hello, love your healthy looking complexion I also have dehydrated dry skin/sensitivity. I've been using La Roche Posay, Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser but even after realizing washing my face twice a day was causing damage and reducing to once a day my barrier is still damaged, and after washing my face does need moisturizer instantly so was on the lookout for an even gentler cleanser and just ordered Dewytree Hi Amino All Cleansing Milk from amazon.. hopefully, my skin loves it too. I did stop using vitamin C products because they also felt harsh on my skin/leaving a burning feeling. I'm not really sure what to do but just keep it really basic for now. My skin couldn't even handle Paulas Choice resist toner which was supposed to be for dehydrated skin, but when i use it my face feels like it's cracking so have to put moisturizer on so what is the point then?
Yeah, the info sounds great but the drastically different skin tone has me thinking that my clear and smooth skin is not good enough because I’m not milky white. I mean maybe she didn’t mean to make it look like the goal is white skin but some of the people in the comments seem to think that’s the goal, which is really sad. I’m glad most have caught on that this is skin bleaching but others are applauding this video for the pale ness she achieved which doesn’t even look healthy.
this was definitely intentional. You can’t “accidentally” get that white. Even the majority of ACTUAL white people have more color to their skin tone, like pink tones. Korean culture is colorist, they try to hide their natural features with bleaching, surgery, and extreme photo editing.
Unfortunately that's what people in Asia think is beautiful . A lot of them have extreme self hatred for themselves . Why do you think Koreans spend millions of dollars on plastic surgery . To look less Asian as possible and to try to look like white Europeans . And the thing is white people see this and they're laughing at them going why don't you love yourself the way you are
It really depends from skin to skin, cleansing oil is perfect for my skin since my skin is very naturally oily. But I heard that cleansing milk is better for dry skin right?
Your skin is amazing!!!! My skin is crap right and your first tip made me realize I have to change my cleanser. Buh bye cleanser. Can’t wait to watch the rest of this video👍🏻

Not only that your skin looks AMAZING but your personality makes me wanna see more videos of you thank you for this 🥰😇❤️

I watched this video a month ago and decided to try out the skincare. I've been doing this for over a month now and my skin has definitely changed! I get quite oily in my T zone and has had alot of skin problems in that area, and my skin also looked dull at times, but after doing this skincare routine I swear my skin is alot better. I used to suddenly wake up with idk five pimples on my forehead to getting one pimple once in a while. I definitely recommend this skincare routine!! Thank you sm for sharing this routine with us Soo! It really helped me :D btw I use different brands than her but with the same ingredients :)
can I ask what exactly products you used?

Why does this sound passive aggressive...
this is exactly what I need right now, winter in korea is so harsh! My dry skin is even drier to the point where the skin on my chin occasionally flaking and my cheek sometimes get itchy! Whatever moisturizing skincare products I apply my skin still feels dry...😭
Coconut oil...amazing... Please try
Good luck!
@@sims2lovealot damaged skin barrier bcz of over exfoliate please help
Love you 😍😍

She does double cleanse with a gentle cleansing oils when she wears makeup, but honestly I, as a lazy person, double cleanse very rarely, oils feels drying on my skin. If you have fungal acne it my be because your skin barrier is fragilized already, and it react this way, so a gentle cleanser may have good results for you. Remember to massage your skin for at least one minute for it to be clean enough ( not too much tho haha ) and to rinse it off well !

Exactly
Ufff... How soft & glowing your skin...
The skin texture looks good but the color is scary 😦 I hope people don’t think this shade of white is ideal
