best way to travel Australia Graham the kiss way(keep is simple stupid) looks good Graham reminds me off my brothers GQ4.2 with 380.000 kms traveling Australia. but i will say 80 series and 100 series are awesome as well.
Hi Graham! Love your channel you're a funny guy! In september we're coming to Perth and we want a Nissan Patrol for sure. Planning to buy a 2005 and on model with the facelift because of the resolved problems with the ZD30 grenade engine. Are there any other common problems or things to check out while inspecting the car? Hoping you can give us some awesome tips and tricks. Regards Natasha & Hans from the Netherlands.
Two questions: How come you did not get a front locker and if the kitchen is on the far side, why did you choose to put the fridge on the driver's side?
+S Dem. if you only had the cash for one locker then putting are locker in the rear will benefit the patrol more then it would if you put one in the front, r50 pathfinders are the same they benefit from having are locker in the rear more then the front, I seen this information in passing when i was on one of the patrol forums.
Hello graham can you please provide me with an update on the ashes cricket score as you have such a good radio.......lol p.s. nice truck does it have dif locks front and back
Hey Graham, am working up a GU build and love the idea of the extra cab. It looks like you have started with a coil ute and fabbed the extra cab bit on to the back rather than chop a wagon. Did you consider the chop path, or had the ute and built from there?
I’m from Texas, so have a question. Do y’all try and avoid things made in China like we do over here? I wasn’t sure where all the bits and pieces are made that outfit your rigs. Do y’all have the same view of Chinese made stuff being cheap and non reliable as we do?
yes. we avoid china like the plague... but some things you've got not choice with. Most of our heavy duty stuff is all Australian Made using Australian steel.
Robert McDonald I’m glad to hear that. I view Australian made products as having superb craftsmanship and strength. Just seeing what y’all do with your rigs. My hats off to you guys doing all you can to make your stuff local and use Australian steel. Someday I’ll be over there wheeling and can’t wait to see a lot of yalls setups in person. Have a blessed day.
Robert McDonald Most non-recycled steel blocks and sheets are Chinese made actually, all the Aussie companies do is slice and dice Chinese steel to your spec. The reason their products (the Chinese) aren't great is because the importers are tight arses, you get what you pay for... Most high end stuff we love is Chinese made from Chinese resources. Mobile phones, clothes, shoes etc...
We mine the Iron ore, send it to china where they make it into steel which they sell back to us through companies that used to be Australian owned and operated but now are just badges that used to mean something. Some fucking assholes decided to elect some conservative assholes who worship money and they basically looked for how they could best rip off our country, they made an arseload of cash doing it and we get stuck buying Chinese shit with Aussie markups from dickheads who are still voting in these same union-hating con-men who sent our manufacturing industry offshore because cheaper workers equaled better bottom lines for the shareholders in the 80's and 90's. You can pay an extra 400% for the allegedly "Australian Made" version but 9 times out of 10 you can see it's just rebadged shit out of the same factory in China that some Aussie company rebranded and marked up to cash in on idiots and their nationalistic nostalgia. Sound familiar? It should.
Graham give us an update on the whereabouts is Shorty ? I know I have posted the same question below but would be nice if we know where shorty is or where its gone.
I have a penchant for the Grand Cherokee Laredo as my next car , but for serious off road and touring a Patrol or Landcruiser diesel will suit me fine. Yes Jeep parts and accesories are expensive, hence you wont see many out in the bush.
Honestly, I'd love to do a jeep one day. But there just aren't enough of them over here to "play with" as such. Rare enough to not be cheap, but without the performance or features to match the price.. If that makes any sense. If I ever found the right JK with a blown motor, I'd look for a crashed foton and put the cummins/borgy driveline and dana's from it in the jeep.
All your gas struts/pistons are mounted upside down. They should be mounted so the shiny shaft is at the bottom when the door/hatch is closed. This allows the oil inside to cover the shiny piston most of the time to prevent seals from drying out (affecting lubrication) and aid damping at the end of the stroke. Amateur mistake.
Actually, it's not a mistake. This is done on vehicles that see the outback deliberately, so that dust doesn't accumulate on the pistons. By fitting them this way, there is less oil on the pistons, hence less dust, and hence longer life out bush. It's little considerations like this that mark the difference between a civilian weekend 4WD and a real bush vehicle.
When is this crowd gonna come to terms with Toyota being no 1 in this country, and for good reason.they re good.not excellent but a tried and tested vehicle. Theres not a six cylinder out there that sounds good with a loud exhaust system??unless ur tone deaf or clearly a Nissan driver.
Graham she is a beaut, thanks for the tour...

I really like the spacecab mod, never seen anything like it. If only it had a better engine though, wouldn't need to carry so much fuel.
Still waiting for a video of this machine cruisin the tracks.....
“Nothing too fancy this side”

Shit yeah.... box of red cans!!
Could you put a roof top tent on the canopy
How do u find air flow on top mount inter cooler is when crawling along in low range ?
Like he said in the video, this vehicle is more overlander than rock crawler...However, I still don't see how he gets "enough" air into the block...
what part of Australia was this filmed in?
Tom Debicki WA I would say
My dads Daihatsu from the late 70s will make that piss.
@Tim B I know
I've noticed a lot of Yotas and Nissans in Aussie offroading videos. Are Jeeps rare there or do you just not like them?
+Sgt StickyTits not big fans of them over her mate.. Not the best fwd and certainly not for on road as well
They’re not reliable at all is the problem... and the only good ones off-road are old xjs and wranglers
Honestly, I'd love to do a jeep one day. But there just aren't enough of them over here to "play with" as such. What does "GU" stand for? It's a Nissan right?
It's just a model code for a Nissan Patrol.
He uses of all things Cooper tyres not Bridgstone lol
Hey he may drive a Nissan but he got the tyre choice perfect.
Timberwolf yea the bridgstones aren't that great all terrains in my opinion
Cooper is a sponsor of 4WD Action.

Chris Shane called a canopy, look up four wheel drive canopy and you'll get a lot of info
Liam Turner thank you for the info
Where can you get those plastic drawers from?
Saw them in bunnings. They were by 'Oates'.
Where did you get those plastic drawers??????
drew7376 buntings sell them
wat engine in it?
That a 16g or 18g, 6cm or 8cm ?
i like your license plate lol yall 196
Evan Doyle pretty sure it’s for yallingup a little place near dunsborough
No kings gear? Never seen this vehicle on any the 4wd action videos.
Daniel Whipps I think this might have been before he joined 4x4 action mate
That's because Kings gear is shit. Cannot understand people spending big dollars on a rig only to put crap Kings gear and accessories on it.
Paul Tiffin some of it is ok, majority of it is indeed shit though
DONT YOU HAVE A ISUZU D MAX
this was more than 4 years ago mate
Is that a 18g or 16g turbo?
+happydonut84 18g apparently to 20g spools up later in the revs being a bigger turbo and the 18g the boost comes on alot earlier
I'll stick with Toyota's rolling on BFG's thank you very much !
you have the right choice john
must of sold it ,
Are u at the zig zag rail way track I go there sometimes
Nissan patrol an Toyota Land Cruiser nothing like that ever made best of the best
3.0lt Nissan GU patrol Y 61 modifications
No Toyota pulls out Nissan patrol that’s a fact
Cooky 89 my 2001 hilux pull out my bosses patrol last week. Crap happens mate
It depends on the driver mate and a little bit on the car
By the way nissan patrol is the best car
land cuisers are the only way to go
false
i own a landcruiser and even i know thats not true ;)
Nathan Cormack wrong!!!!
If you like fixing your 4x4 in the field, then yes.
Yeahhhh.....thats why Shawn is ALWAYS having to be winched or strapped out....like ALWAYS....and breaking shit.
Don’t you need a bigger fridge
Noyce.
Iv got a stock standard 4x4 and looking at the cost of mods is thousands $$$$, this GU would have at least $11.000 of mods. Depressing :(
the shorty patrol that i have probably has had 20,000 spent on it one trick bit of gear!!
+retry tobuy his engel fridge is $2000 alone so yeah a wee bit more that $11,000 on that rig so start saving your pennies mate
Just remember mate, lockers before liftkits and lightbars.
79 Series Ute all the way......
Charles Harrell #noflex
With that td05 mate she'll pull like 12 yr old boy i bet.
