@@dtnicholls1 True, I'd want to have a look at bearing speeds as well on an older Mog. Last thing you'd want on that rig is to fry a set of portal bearings somewhere remote. Not only is the size that's an issue, it's the weight. The smallest og th enew Mog's would still be over 8,000kg when it hits the trail with their gear in it.
Weight isn't really an issue. You have to look at the pressure you're placing on the ground, you certainly do have a lot more weight but you also have a lot more tyre and area that weight is distributed over. The load any given piece of ground will support is a function of pressure rather than weight.
For the new camera rig, I think you should go with a Landcruiser XT200. If you could I would have the dual cab a little extended depending how much room you need. You will have heaps of space in the back seat for the camera gear along with the 3rd person in the backseat. You will also have extra space in the canopy for your fridge, tools and extra things for the camera gear etc. They are extremely capable and very tough. I would go with 3 inch lift and lots of ARB or TJM accessories.

A chopped 200 series for some comfort for the camera crew. And ofcourse 750mm extended chasis for additional space for the camera gear. All other basic necessary mods like snorkel, slider bars, bull bar front and back and ofcourse a winch (probably a whinch at the rear end also would be an added bonus). My only concern would be if 200 series would be too big for some of the tighter tracks. In that case a dual cab 70 series with auto conversion, recaro seats and 750mm chasis extension.

A bakkie as we call it in south Africa (Ute), can keep all the gear high up out the water in the tray in a canopy, plenty space for batteries, inverters, charging space on either side of the canopy, fridge can, fit nicely too, and yet still have space in the cab to sit and maybe out some basic charging place inside the cab. Put some 35s on it with a 2 inch lift no Hassel and maybe a front locker. Which dual cab is up to you haha, my 2 cents. Keep up the golf work guys
I reckon you guys should run a big troopy, plenty of space for all the boys and a butt load of camera gear
What about the access to the rear seat... They need to get in and out quickly.
@@coreydark8795 get the side door model
@@hellonwheels6429 so you mean an ex ambulance one as they're custom modified adding the side door if you didn't know that...
76 series cruisers are a 4 door
keep it something that you and the camera crew can trust reliability on and wont break down even if it's old or new
Chopped Y62 to keep the Nissan badge, dmw rear, red arc 12v 35 treps and massive lift 🤙🏻
I think it’s got to be a y62 Ute chop as there quiet a new endeavour something different but the same recipe which works quite well. Bit of a gvm upgrade and extension. Big touring canopy setup for the camera storage in the tub to keep thinks abit more organised and “safe” run the pelican hardigg up right protective drawers for cameras, drones and all other digital equipment twin lock it 35s bar work. Big off grid solar setup and keep the 12v system completely seperate from the cranking battery except for running an emergency parallel between the two banks to save fiddling with jumper leads if the crank battery runs into issues, fresh water. Harrop performance kit And I reacon yous are on a winner and I’d love to see the camera car featured in more episodes especially the new hypothetical y62 dual cab Ute. Love the show keep up the good work lads
OKA is now back in production in WA. Or there is a tonne of ex army 6wd Perenties available now
I mean you've got one of the best off road cars already....
Unimog for sure that would be spacious and perfect for all the gear 👍
Dual cab copped 100 series cruiser with 3inch lift on 35's would be awsome to see and that way the boys will have heaps of room and a reliable car
Would love to see more 150 Prados on your trips!
Love the mr lancruiser sticker on the window 😂😂
105 series landcruiser. Automatic running a 4 inch lift on 35 inch tires (Goodyear wrangler MTs) roof rack and runva winch. Redarc 12 volt system. Drifta Stockton drawer set up and same custom camera gear storage as the GU. Clearviews of course. Sliders and custom off-road bash plate. And to finish it off...a snatch clothing sticker across the windscreen⛺️⛰
hey shauno, my dad saw you at Lilydale pub, the other week, while he was at kevin bloody willson, i was bummed that i wasn’t there!!
Love to see a video about the camera team what they do and how they do it.
Yes would love to see that too.
Who would film it lol
Chopped gq patrol with a mits canopy on the back plenty of room for camera gear and swags plus heaps of surface space for sponsorship and branding
Get the lads an Iveco Daily 4x4. Imagine the kickarse canopy they could have for their gear. Make a great build series as well getting it kitted out right. Get in touch with Iveco and do a deal. :)
Good Idea make it a brand new auto model and it wouldn't be stoppable.
Defender dual cab tray back with a bit of help from the boys at mits alloy. Those things are tough as but still bare bones enough that if something gets wet it will still work
Looks like you already have a good camera car. Some more bar work and a front locker.would be great see how long the old girl will last.
I think another Gu. it seems to work well for the guys. you can also swap pretty much everything on the current gu across. keeps the costs low too.
We need a video on how to clean cars like this!!
It's just gotta be another GU... They are super tough rigs, the current camera car proves it.
Dual cab chop gu
With the 750mm extension
with 6bt or duramax
Easy 3 years I done the pre purchase inspection for jock in Brunswick all those years ago 👌
Troopy!!! Not enough of them in the 4X4 scene
Do a build on the GU. Dual cab conversion with canopy and chassis stretch. Maybe get some new door seals and head unit too...
It’s always there doesn’t break down there to rescue Darryl and it’s a td42 super reliable
Holden Ra rodeo, 2" lift, tinted windows, some well used 32" muddies and a raptor coated bull bar, unstoppable.
Chopped, supercharged Y62, chassis extension, GVM upgrade, 3” stainless exhaust, 4” stainless snorkel and air box from Moonlight, TJM chaser bullbar and and sidesteps, runva winch with a set of Teralume spotlights, tray and canopy setup from DMW, rear bar with winch, 3” lift, 35” tyres on ally bead locks, front and rear lockers, red vision dual battery set up with inverter, secondary fuel tank and water tank in the headboard, under body bash plates, UHF, roof console, seat covers, floor mats and a portable hot water shower for the stinky 3 of the group.
Id keep it, as shauno said "its always made it home in 3 years" why buy something with unknown history/reliabilty
Last legs mate
@@harrygibbs-hughes4820 td42 patrol on its last legs at 300k? No way mate it’ll go another 300
@@harrygibbs-hughes4820 things do have a used by date, but i doubt its really not that bad, they may be getting a sponserd camera car from someone else
It's not the engine thats tired mate! She's got some life in her yet. its things like spring perches on the chassis, body mounts, door hinges etc. All the stuff that isnt routine maintenance but goes after a vehicle has had a hard life. She needs a rest and some TLC! - Jocko
@@4WD247 ahhh that makes more sense now, i was guessing it may of been something like that thanks jocko
Already this is going to be a lit video
Ford raptor, 35s, 3 inch, dual cab, canopy, massive 12v system, big tunes for maximum power. upgrade turbos and also gvm, plus your average accessories, snorkel, lights ect.
A Toyota 200 series with a 3 inch lift, your 35s wrangler tires and bar work all round. Raptor coating all over and Shaun’s 12volt system. Make it similiar to the spare boxes 200 series.
