XI'AN | Why you don't need no terracotta warriors
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 жов 2024
- Most people come to Xi'an almost exclusively to see the terracotta warriors. I've seen the terracotta warriors, and yeah, they're cool. But you know what's not cool? A mosh pit of tourists. My advice - google the terracotta warriors, watch some videos, and give them a skip. Spend those few days enjoying the amazing city of Xi'an, a place totally worth the trip, even if only to sample the world's oldest hamburger

Unliked other westerners , I liked your positive vibes about china thank u very much ,stay beautiful as you are !!!
r u japanese? welcome to china....
@Pandawa your are not panda,looooooooooooooooool
@Pandawa lies. You must be a panda.
@no issues A little bit weird regarding Australia while geographically close to Asia but political, legal institutions as much as language and literature are derived from Britain and Europe. so Australians are consider themselves as western !
Xi'an is an ancient capital of 13 dynasties. I think it would be better to have a travel diary. This is my blog

I’ve lived in Xian for the past six years and it’s a second home for me, this video brought back memories and made me a bit homesick haha 😂 good job on the video , thank you for showing parts of the city where I had the best time of my life ♥️
Bro I see your name and guess you are a Muslim. Chinese Muslim cuisine is really incredible.
文錦饕 yes i am, not from china though . But yess their food is amazing 🙌🏼
Such a great video, my kids and myself visited Xi’an in March of this year and we so much enjoyed Xi’an. Our only regret was not having more time to enjoy the great food and friendly people. Thanks for posting this!!!
Totally agree. I was on a tourist visit in China past two weeks. We've been in Beijing, Xi'an, Zhangjiajie and Shanghai, but I loved Xi'an most from the first moment we went out of the airport. Very beautiful city and the food is great
yeah,i live xi'an now
What an amazing channel, i can’t believe i had never before watched your videos! I absolutely love Chinese culture and history, but you’ve convinced me to go there for the food hahah
Daniel de Solano thanks so much for your beautiful comment Daniel! Hope you can go to China and eat your weight in amazing Chinese food! You’ll have the time of your life
In the video, you mentioned the geographic center of the city of Xi'an, and you show a picture of it. You say that is the Drum Tower. Actually it is the Bell Tower, which lies in the center, and the intersection of the roads. The tower near the Muslim quarter is Drum Tower, which is about 200 meters aways from the Bell Tower. In ancient times, Chinese people stroke the bell in the morning and drum in the dusk, so they worked like modern clocks, so almost all ancient Chinese cities had them. Unfortunately, most of them have been demolished to make room for new buildings in the last 100 years. By the way, the Bell Tower in Xi'an is the biggest bell tower in China in the Ming Dynasty. When Zhu Yuanzhang, a peasant who became the emperor of Ming Dynasty, was afraid that the dragon spirit(Chinese people thought that emperors were the personifications of dragons, a deity considerd by Chinese ) in Xi'an was too strong because Xi'an served as the capital of China for thirteen dynasties, so he ordered the governor of Xi'an to build the biggest tower to suppress the spirit of dragon, so that his throne would not be overthrown.
Even I ,a Chinese, am the first time to hear the background of the Bell Tower. 🤣
i was in xi´an before 8 weeks ( i did not see the terrakotta armee :( ) and it is realy interesting, because this city is so old und marco polo was there to sell silk. i am from germany so it a bit special when i am in china.
Can tell you are from Germany when you type „und" instead of "and" hahaha. Ich komme aus Xi'an. Danke für den Besuch!
Xi’an is my home town. Even though several years I didn’t go back, it is still familiar throughout your video. Thx
btw
'Xi An' means Western Peace
'Chang An', its former name, means Enduring Peace
eternal peace
@@yuanwang5124 Em, I think enduring peace is more acurate than eternal perce. Eternal peace will be better described as 永安。

who says cavalries can't defend the wall in siege lol.
So wild a blondie is touring me Xi'an after all these years.. miss everything about Xi'an, thanks for the video
I regretted visiting Xi'an and only had 2 full days in the city, and one of the day I spent at Huashan, I definitely would come back and spent at least a week here!
The sun rise on top of mountain hua is incredible, if it is lucky enough to see :)
My favorite exp in Xi'an
Been to Xian last year for the whole one week. Definitely worth all the money. The food is awesome, halal food is everywhere, and the people there are so friendly. Love it!
Xi'an and Chongqing - you need to come along to Chengdu! now my home, and it's an incredible place!
welcome
Love Cheng Du! Definitely my favorite city!
Hi Amy, I am a Chinese teacher in Sydney. I really want to thank you so so so much for your lovely videos. I use lots of your UA-cam videos in my lessons. This term I made a TPRS Story named "Amy 想去中国旅行",It's so helpful that your UA-cam videos are online for them to watch in Chinese lessons, which is an authentic connection from what they learn and they watch. I really appreciate all your work, they are really really amazing!!! You are such a beautiful lady!!!
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26
I just got back from studying in Xi'an and i totally agree with what you showed in this video. Its such an amazing city and the food was wonderful! Ive been looking for the name of the second dish you tried (the jelly-like cubed noodle", since it was one of my favorites there. This is the first time ive seen someone else mention them. Tbis video made my day and made me want to go back as soon as possible!
I really enjoyed every episode of your China tour, not only just because of the beautiful sceneries, also of your bubbly cheerful personality plus a beautiful face that mingles really well with the colourful background. Well done Amy!! 👍👍👍
Nice mini tour video, it's short but to the point. In fact you pointed out things that I didn't even notice in longer versions of this tour. Good job!
I am from GuangZhou and i had been to Xi'an with my wife back like few yrs ago. I missed this place terribly. It just so much to do and see. U should also check out the huaqingchi as well. It is the called the Bath palace in English i guess. It used to be the place for the emperor to take baths and relax. Its so beautiful inside. Overall. Xian is a really good place to visit.
wow your videos are so addictive to watch, i just realised i've watched like 6 videos straight. I think you have an amazing character and each videos are so informative and bubbly that makes your videos so amazing to watch.
When Amy said at the very beginning of this video about two good reasons to visit Xi'an I already knew that one of them would be about the delicious food there. Bravo! 識吃貨!
Clear voice, beautiful girl and able to give those that have not traveled to China a good insight of many cities. I have a Chinese wife born in Shanghai & lived in Beijing when she was eight. So for me having an extended family in law in China I have traveled extensively and my family in law have treated me so well. I've seen all the places Ami's videos show and I think she does a great job of making videos for westerners. Please keep up the good work.
We had so much fun in Xian especially cycling around the city wall ! We miss Xian!
Thanks for this excellent video. We have been telling people there is far more to Xi'an than the Warriors. You covered it so well and makes us wish we were making videos of our travels.
So glad you went to Xi'an! Where I began my adventure in China :)
Xi'an is amazing! Some of my favourite sites and foods there. Already excited for my next trip there
@@BlondieinChina Next time you go, be sure to check out the SAGA shopping mall (home to Asia's longest escalator, fancy I know), the Expo Park (in Baqiao district (灞桥) ), 华山,and 西安交通大学.
I’m so glad you emphasized the old city. I definitely liked it the most myself. The 大清真寺, The Great Mosque, was the capstone of the experience for me. Also, stay at a 湘子门国际青年旅舍, Xiangzimen International Youth Hostel, close to the 南门,The South Gate. It is a beautiful, restored traditional Chinese dwelling complete with a lovely courtyard.
I thought it couldn't be done but you did such a great job I didn't even miss those terracotta what?! :D
why am I watching an aussie youtubing my hometown while i'm in straya?
because it's just amazing!
I was in Xi'an for four years for my university study. This vedio brings me back to my 20s.
Keep up the good work :) Spreading positivities is what we need in this world !
couple of months ago i had been to this beautiful city...its really amazing specially lightings in the evening
got to say there's some people, for example, me who dislike these kinds of neon. kind of lighting pollution
Thanks for the heads up Amy. Now we can take the tour of the Terra cotta soldiers off our list.
Keep up the great videos on China.
Really like your videos about China. We can see your genuine love for the land. I believe your videos will let more foreigners know China’s beautiful stuff. A thousand thanks to you.
You really did lots of research about Chinese cities history, I learned a lot from your content even as a Chinese! Thank you!
I'm loving your channel more and more. I really appreciated this video and I only wish it was longer and you covered more foods. You are fun to watch.
Always love your amazing informative vlogs. Your positive and bubbly personality is most charming - always make people happy seeing you. Keep it up. 👍👍👍💐
Blessings
I could literally sit and binge watch your videos all day long! Would love to see you do a video in The Bahamas
Beautiful girl introducing our culture to the world!
It's A pleasure to watch your viedo, also A good way to learn native English.👍
great tour video, been there at march 2018 and it was awesome!! thanks for bringing back good memories
3:59 I like how he changed the 長 and 馬 portions of the biáng character to their simplified counterparts!
Thanks for the lovely video. I'm from Xianyang city which is so close to Xian and currently working in Africa And gotta say this video makes me so homesick
Glad to see that you like Xi'an where it is my second hometown. I also love places with long history, civilization and delicious food!
5:07 they treat costumers like Shit😂😂😂 I totally agree with you! I grew up in the Northwest part of China. Lousy customer service is a normal thing there and definitely need to be improved. You are so lovely, changed the subtitles to express the opposite meaning. I guess no Chinese people have noticed it so far😂😂😂Like your videos! Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
You talk delightfully, and the contents of your video so interesting. As always you make my day. Thank you!
A Xi’an native here now living in Melbourne. What a wonderful world!
Wanted to say that initially the city wall was huge and there were multiple palaces. But there were pretty much damaged and Ming decided to build another small ass wall in the city pretty much located at the old palace in 1300 something.
I stumbled on your channel. When, i searched about migrating to Dublin on google search. I was like in my mind "wait.....what?". Awesome content !
Love your videos esp the way u switch the scenes. Just a little correction: Xi’an I have to say, is not the oldest city in China, I strongly recommend Henan Province and there’re a lot of capitals in history like Anyang, Luoyang, Zhengzhou, Shangqiu...
Even though I only watched a few videos, I like your channel! Thank you so much for introducing the real China as a person in western culture. I am so happy to see someone can actually show how amazing the Chinese culture is.
Your chinese is impeccable and I learned a lot from your videos, thanks!
I lived there three years for university. Love it!!! They have so much more to offer. Moved to Shanghai afterwards. Shanghai is delicate and sophisticated. Xi’an is simple, pure and loud. Now living in Canada. I miss al those foods!
I'll be visiting Xian for the 1st time in Sept and your video is a great intro. Thanks.
Enjoy it! Let me know how it goes!
Hello from Melbourne and xi’an is my hometown. Love your videos
Love you so much - beautiful, optimistic, smiling little sister❤️❤️❤️
Ni shi haoyi de ren!
Such a great video! This video made me feel homesick for sure for my home away from home. Will hopefully be able to return to China when the country opens up!
I like how you translate "they treat you little bit like shit". LOOOOOL.
The food looks so good! I would just deal with the crowds and see the terra-cotta warriors. It’s a once in a lifetime experience.
I love that you have Chinese subtitles! It's such a great way to learn more Chinese :))
Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
As a native of Xi'an, my most favorite place is Qujiang. There aren't many people there so it's quiet, and it has both natural beauty and man-made scenery💕 They hang up balloon shaped lamps in the tree; therefore you can see a bunch of colorful "balloons" "floating" in the air at night. There's also a big bookstore -- it's an amazing place.
Lived there for 8 months to study back in 2015, i absolutely love this city and still miss the food so much. Another favourite noodle of mine is the green noodles :3.
ooh green noodles! From memory, I don't think I've tried those. I'll keep my eye out for them! They sound interesting
@@BlondieinChina They are made from spinach. Although that might not sound very appetizing, you wouldn't say they were made of spinach after trying them. I would say the flavor of spinach is barely there, but the dish itself is amazing. It's with tomato sauce, eggs, meat and some amazing spices. I actually only found out of this spinach fact after returning home lol. It was my go-to lunch at NWPU in the university cafetaria.
Keep it up with the amazing videos, you reminded me again of how amazing China is (contrary to all the political debates that portray the major image of China in the west). I do feel that enthusiasm from traveling through China from you. If you can manage to travel alone through China then you'll be fine on your own traveling anywhere, is what i usually tell people. Although i'm really jealous at your mandarin, i didn't have enough time to actually learn that besides some basics to get around.
Loved your video! How long did it take you to learn and become so good at the Chinese language? Was it just from the language courses at Tsinghua?
I did exactly the same. Skipped Terracotta warriors and enjoy the rest of the town - totally worth it What a lovely week :-)
Hallo there, im one guy who’s hometown is Xi‘an. Its nice that you visit my hometown and introduce it to people. But please let me correct one small thing. The ancient city is not within the walls. The wall were only the ancient imperial city. The real size of ancient Xi‘an is 3/4 size of the whole city right now. It was already that big 1500 years before.
And yeah, Xi'an, Hsian or Sian, is also one of the four ancient cities in the world. There's loads of stuff to explore, the old and the new.
Xi'an is the city where I came from, what you mentioned in your video is true, but for the terracotta warriors, it is still worth seeing even though sometimes it is so crowded. I love my country and our splendid culture
Well so good. The video is so good and you are so good at this!
I think I m the lucky one, came to Xi'an just a month ago and visited all these places showed in video. One of the beautiful City of China.
My rating for Xi'an City 9.9/10
Love your video. Thanks for promoting my hometown!!! Hope you enjoy your time in China
The best video of Xi’an I have ever seen, really good job!
We went to Xian around 1-5 Jan this year, there's barely any people at the Terracotta Warriors museum. My biggest suggestion is JOIN AN OFFICIAL GUIDED TOUR ran by the museum. I'm Chinese and I have learned tremendous amount of new things during the one hour tour at Terracotta Warriors. If it was not the guided tour, I don't even know what I am looking at. No signs, no explanatory information at the actual site, most people who were not with the tour just took some pictures and left, very disappointed.
Your vlogs about China are the best ever!!!Amy 你太棒了!
I heard the metro in this city took the longest time to build as it always run into an ancient tomb while digging and was forced to redesign the route many many times. Chinese call it the metro of time traveling.
Love China history, I should pay visit to XiAn
NTH Special Welcome, I am Xi’anese, just let me know when you come! I give you a tour.
Xi'an, Luoyang, chengdu, three most famous history cities. not many attarcts in Luoyang tho but the food there are much much more better than Xi'an I believe
wait, almost forget Nanjing, capital of 10+ dynasties and the old capital of republic of China
晚上一定要去大唐不夜城,只有在那里你才能体会什么叫大唐
那是人造的,没什么意思

Wow, you really enjoy your authentic chinese food! Impressive. We don't really get authentic dishes here (UK/Europe). Like how you really 'seem' (?) to enjoy yourself in all your vids. Good for you!
Hope you will go Harbin at winter and show us ice made sculpture.
在城墙上有一种穿越的感觉,曾经漫步在上面很多次
去过两次西安,最深刻的印象就是“好撑”
哈哈,实话,咱们陕西除了主食就是主食,好吃是好吃,但真吃不了几样。
History is great and everything, but can you eat it .. hillarious.
Biangbiang noodle just has to be broken down into its radicals which are common ones (except maybe cave which I just use roof and eight to remember).
穴幺言幺長馬長月刂心辶 (cave (or roof and eight)-tiny(coil of silk), words-tiny-long-horse-long-moon-knife-heart-walk) I've also seen it written 穴言馬幺幺長長月刂心辶 . Like arguing over how to prepare and eat food there is always arguments writing order. I prefer the latter myself (more symmetric from the middle out).
Im probably going to move to Xian soon after watching this video..
I know what are you talking about. But why I always stare Someplace.😜
i just realized how viscious amy truly is lol...in a good way.
Love the food you had at Xi'an. It is a bit older than Rome but has been revitalized by China's effort on modernization.
Great video and very impressed by your fluent mandarin and more importantly true understanding of china history and xian's strength compared with Beijng and Shanghai, way to go 美女
I'm a docent in the terracotta army museum. It's true that most of the time the museum is flooded with tourists, but if you come at around 4 to 5pm there would much less people.
Technically that’s not the Rou Jia Mo people refer to. The one you ate is Beef and the most consumed type is Pork with heavy fennel and soy source flavor
Do you expect really Muslims to serve pork?!
You are, XiAn is worth visiting for China historic. This video makes me want to go there.
There are these Xian burger places in Australia as well. The best I had is in surfers paradise. :)
Yum!
My hometown, not even mentioned Da Tang Fu Rong Yuan, homesick here
我就是第地道西安人,看到你拍的视频很亲切,哈哈…欢迎再次来西安!!
those double people bikes are interesting
Now I Liveing Tansania for business, many times I missed my hometown I love it forever. If you come to Xi'an one time I'm ture you will love it forever! Welcome to Xi'an.
Actually, there is Weibo for Drum Tower, which keeps posting the belling sounds to indicate the time for years.
I miss Xi'An so much ,Xi'An is my home town but I am in university in Osaka Japan, the food here cannot be compared with food in Xi'An at all😭 I miss every single street food in Xi’An
Hi Amy! Great sharing!
Do you live in China? 你的汉语非常好!你住哪儿? I just started studying Chinese too.
I'll visit Xi'an on Jan 29 to Feb 5 this year. I'd like to stay in a hostel & perhaps spend a night in a tent around Cuihuashan.
2:25 This is actually the Bell Tower! The Drum Tower is located in front of Muslim Street.
Your channel needs more subscribers. Great job!
Was there in 2005 . What a foodies paradise. Muslim quarter sensational. Loved it that motor vehicle horn noises were banned in the walled area which helped weary travelers get a good sleep unlike other asian cities
the Drum Tower in the video actually is the Bell Tower. The Drum Tower is in the 200 meters west of the Bell Tower.
