I don't miss anything about drinking poison for fun.
I don't miss anything about it and can't imagine doing it again. 5 months sober and feeling much better.

The Law of Large Numbers (theoretical outcomes aligning with empirical outcomes over time) suggests "cutting back" is impossible for an alcoholic, but "going sober" removes the 'cut back' alcohol trials against the house odds of 'let loose.'

You are absolutely correct. I’m struggling now and it’s true that there is a feeling that I can’t have as much fun without alcohol. It’s a compulsion that is so hard to stop!!
Thanks for sharing! I’ll check out your ebook.

I like all your videos; they are super helpful for healthy ways to get sober and healthy ways to stay sober. I fucked up recently; 3 yrs sobriety, good sleep diet involvement in the community interesting creative projects but my bottom had been pretty scary; a seizure and electrolytes on a iv drip with valium. Why and how I fell off the wagon isn't pertinent here; the thing I'm focussed on is stopping as soon as possible to avoid another catastrophe. Your presentations keep me focussed; it's day four of drinking to avoid withdrawal symptoms; I've got books, my place is super clean, meals are prepared, a neighbour will walk my dog for a day or two so I'm not as afraid as I might otherwise be, and will spend some more time being mindful of relapse prevention. I really liked your segment on the mice study that showed unregulated GABA receptors; wasn't surprised at all and hope down the line that this research may produce aids for people with this problem, like myself. Once again, thanks, your videos are real sources of clarity and practical advice, very rare indeed!!.

As somebody who has battled alcohol all my life I realise alcohol is not the problem it's the person drinking it and I cannot control it like other people can. Addictive personality is my problem I believe. Can you ever "recover" from alcohol ? Everyday is a new struggle it's one day at a time

Anto , take your eyes off what we are giving up and put them on what we are gaining. It's no secret why many motorbike accidents involve power poles!
      Peace in stepping forward brother.

Thank you for the video. I’ve been struggling with alcohol for a while now. By the way, I hate that term alcoholic . I don’t believe it is a disease, I believe it is a habit; something we can overcome. You are clearly proof of that. Most of the videos I see address spiritualism or genetic predisposition. I do believe there are supplements that can help to alleviate some of the nutritional deficiencies people experience with drinking alcohol. In the end,,,it is a matter of intestinal fortitude. You certainly have displayed that,,,and you have motivated me to persevere through the initial difficulties.

Thank you for your honesty---I am actually a Clinical Hypnotherapist and have taught NLP for 30 years---but I still struggle with my desire to drink because of the calm it brings me---alcohol has almost killed me several times....I can stop and not miss it---but then---then--stresses come up and that urge is still there....very strange, knowing all that I do that it still haunts me....but I started drinking at 14 years old when someone gave me drinks at a party. It seemed to give me more confidence.....so much bullshit---but I am 67 years old and it has been with me in every difficult situation--every great occasion---alcohol was always there for me---even to walk with me to the grave. I am so happy that you have found peace in your sobriety---I DO feel so much better when I don't drink, but 50 years is a very long time to have a habit to get those loops out of my brain---those pathways are very well worn....

It's a mindset that you need to destroy the power alcohol hss.. Mine is that alcohol is a poison.... and why would you drink poison for fun? It's working for me.

IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING TO QUIT ALCOHOL, try smoking some marijuana. For me, when I smoke , my desire to drink disappears. Give it a try, it may help. Yes, trading one vice for another but marijuana does not kill, alcohol does ! Let me know what you think.

I believe that everyone is different just like one diet does not fit all. For me when I smoke I get a bit of anxiety from it so then I drink more to counter that effect. last night I smoked a bit of ganja had to drink more. Consider yourself lucky. I wish I could smoke but also I am 52 now and it just doesn't work anymore it seems to drain my endorphins for the following day also.

Been off booze 14 years. I was a fair weather pot smoker when I was a drinker, it messed with my drinking. I was having DT's when I quit drinking I knew what was going on Thru 5 rehabs and I reached for my girlfriends weed. Been a pot head since. Not jail, opened own business, pay bills, people rely on me, all kinds of shit to the GOOD! I LOVE POT! As with all medicines it isn't for everyone. Grateful it is for me though!!

Yes weed works so well and isn't harming your organs.
Just need to be careful and take it maybe at night to settle you down and not on it constantly to end up with an addiction to it. Too much of anything is bad tho even a little of alcohol kills
Pitty the way the dirty drug alcohol kills organs cause cancers and wrecks families is kept legal.
And weed is such a bad bad drug that helps people in so many ways but its illegal in many countries still. Good old corruption at its best

So what I did after quitting vodka was downgrading to bitch beer and eventually "watering" it down with fruit punch or whatever, and occasionally have my sister get me stoned. I will agree that while stoned, I had no desire whatsoever to drink. But now I'm completely sober. It was a lengthy process, it didn't happen overnight. But I believe, if I could quit drinking, anyone can. I was very dependant on alcohol to get me to do anything. I was like a vehicle and alcohol was like my gasoline.
