Also important to comment about the fact that riot made a 100 level pass, made it only 3 weeks long (most people only play on weekends) and removed token shop, so not only it induces error because the pass is a "limited event and short duration" but also because there is no shop, at first sight it looks like a lot of rewards, but they just placed regular token shop rewards into the leveling system, before when you bought the pass you got 4 orbs for free, now the pass is more expensive and even the 4 orbs are locked behind leveling the pass. Not to mention the new payment method "bundle" being the same as a minimum salary here in brazil or the fact theres no chromas for skins and other content you could get in a regular and cheaper event pass

i genuinely don't understand why they don't just make more skins that are cheap to make such as the april fools bundles etc, birdio and the definitely not skins are great and super cheap to make, no vfx, no voice lines, just texture and some model work. making many cheaper and efficient skins loads of people want instead of a single overpriced ultimate skin would not only bring in more money, but also not alienate 98% of the fucking playerbase.
Imagine they left it in the store instead of making it limited and taking advantage of fomo.
People willing to buy the skin could actually save over time to purchase it and fund Riot.
Instead, they're forcing customers to make a bad decision and BUY NOW OR ITS GONE FOREVER.

There's no exclusivity nor ownership of that skin. Riot owns an infinite number and you, player, have signed an agreement stating that you accept anything Riot decides with your account. You have no power in this transaction and all you have is a pixel collection which is more pleasing to look at as a desktop wallpaper than an in-game skin that you won't focus on as you play the game.
As much as id love to hop on the game company hate, cosmetic prices are never the main problem in a game.
They could have a 5000 skin for all id care, fix the game.

At the time he said he wanted to give Oriana some love and said he'd get a ahri skin some other time, I can't remember if he said from winning another worlds but it was a fair assumption. But we may never know for sure. But obviously if I was riot selling a 500 dollar ahri skin is definately going to be more popular than a 500 dollar Oriana skin

a skin to commemorate a pro player debatably the most important one shouldn't be locked behind overpriced pixels. The physical ahri statue cost less. And the fact that the ahri skin is limited means nothing. The cheapest league account with all skins is $500-1000 and that’s against terms of service to buy and sell accounts and will get the seller and buyers accounts banned. These digital skins have no real world value unlike cs go skins. At least those go up and down in value. riots pulling the wool over your eyes. We use to get ultimate skins for less and have just as much animation and flare. I use to get excited about legendary and ultimate skins. Now everything's locked behind these $200 gatcha skins that are just recolors with no exciting new animations. Mythic skins really don't compare to all the ultimate skins in store right now. And the difference is one is $35 one is a $200 chroma. And now this ahri skin is essentially a $50 ultimate skin which would make sense if the signature version of the skin was $50 but it's not. Taking advantage of a pro players name. For leagues 10th anniversary we got a legendary Annie skin for free. And riot won't even hand out the Leblanc 1350 skin. It's all a scam. And everything's gone downhill

Pixels being priced at a higher value than the physical version of it is just absurd. If the product that actually exists in real life doesn’t even warrant going up to such a high price, the pixelated version shouldn’t even come CLOSE to the price that the physical figure is selling for.

I'm all for exclusivity in virtual items, but the way Riot when about it was horrid. I reckon it shouldve been an addition alongside with the physical statue. Limit the physical statue to a certain number e.g 5000 units and all 5000 units get an exclusive variant of the HoL skin e.g they get the signature variant and STILL lower the price for the HoL skin, make it 50-100. OR add in a damn World's ticket into that $500 bundle, at least you get some sort of physical item AND it makes sense supporting the eSports scene

No joke was on discord with my friend when I saw they put a new skin tier into the game for the Ahri skin and jokingly said "What's it gonna cost like $500?" Didn't actually check to see that it really is worth that much. Wow.
Apex Legends has been doing this crap for the last 2 years by making heirlooms cost roughly $400 to unlock. Absolutely ridiculous. All this does is separate the high class even further from everyone else just so that the company can make more money. Money they aren't going to use to pay their employees more. Money they aren't going to use to improve the game. Just money to fill the pockets of the old dudes who own Riot Games.

to compare the warhammer to league idea, For 500 euros, you could buy the orks new release box, the custodes release box, and the world eaters christmas box for LESS then the 500 and could still have enough to buy an intercesser squad (this also isnt taking into account buying from discount shops). these three box are enough to play 1000-1500 points games, for less then the ahri skins. Do not forget that RIOT disbanded the gamemode development team after removing Twisted Treeline and Dominion, so they can work on other projects.

I don't even see most people who whale in genshin buying this because you still get more whaling for a character as you get cons that affect gameplay even if only a little. The only whaling I see being done on this skin is league players who really really like ahri that much, which still seems like a stretch with all her other skins.

I could see that being true,most players are kids with no income,most adults wont waste money on skins,so you really do have small community of people constantly being skins or at least at some reasonable rate.i bought like 3 skins since 2012.

Faker may have signed an NDA regarding any criticisms he may personally have about the skin as a part of the contract where he and T1 gets a percentage of the profits from the sales of the skin. Faker may not legally be allowed to complain about the skin, but considering how much money he already has access to (successful streamer, massive Korean influencer/celebrity, huge contract salaries, prize money, etc…) I doubt he cares about the few extra dollars in his pocket coming in from a $500 price point when compared to his name and legacy - his life’s fucking work - being smeared and demeaned by the piglike greed of this skin.

I need to stress that the ban ahri boycott is NOT about shaming players for buying the skin (in fact, it'd be easier to shame them if you LET them use it?????), which is the main point i see online for riot defenders, saying "let people make their own stupid decisions with their money". The boycott is about disincentivizing support for this type of business practice. Because of how ridiculously expensive the signature bundle is, Riot really only needs a handful of players to buy it, so of course we're gonna give those players crap for supporting that.

Riot wont care if only a fraction of a player base stops playing, they still have the pros, the high ranks and the people who dont care about the boycott situation. Meanwhile, the high percentage of ahri bans are practically screaming at their face to do something because the balance team will see that statistics. If ahri bans continue even after a week, they have to do something. If it stops then nothing happens. Simple as that.

And the difference is one is $35 one is a $200 chroma. And now this ahri skin is essentially a $50 ultimate skin which would make sense if the signature version of the skin was $50 but it’s not. I got one of the Ahri skins in my game. I ran it down mid lane on repeat until we lost, got banned for doing it, then uninstalled the game. I have never done this before. They've had thousands of £s out of me along the way, but this is the final straw. I'm never coming back again :)

It pisses me off about the physical model. They couldve easily made a collector edition bundle of that statue that has Faker's signature on the base of the statue and a code for the in-game signature tier. They could've easily priced that at 4-500. That also feels more of an honor and celebration of Faker to have an actual physical statue that represents him. It's clear the statue has no association with faker on it though because they don't want his name ruining people's waifu ahri fantasies and want just a clean Ahri statue.
