Now Lauda is running Audi? My brain is confused. (Extremely excited for this)
And his plastic surgery worked 100%.
Yep, the man’s on fire! 🔥

Doing a quick stint in WRC before going back to F1 to win his third championship the following year
They made the Lauda vs Hunt one, they made the Ford vs Ferrari one, it was just a matter of time someone would take a shot at this.
I hope it comes out good, this is the one I wanted the most.
I’m surprised no one made a Colin McRae movie yet
@@wolfgangvan-uber6515 Give it some time, I too would like to see that, that and a Sainz one.
It's the sideways corners that are going to make or break this movie. Rally is not as easy to replicate as close circuit racing.

Ford vs Ferrari, Lancia vs Audi, Hollywood sure is taking cues from what the Grand Tour has covered. If so, I can't wait for when they make the Jim Clark movie.
One can hope!
Terry Crews as Jim Clark
Also take a lesson from Fast & Furious
Matt Smith as Colin Chapman
The truth is that it would be a good idea to adapt the Rivalry that Graham Hill and Jim Clark had in the 1962 season (this Rivalry actually lasted longer, but in '64 neither of them won and I think that John Surtees deserves his own movie where he is the protagonist). Originally my cast would be:
Robert Pattinson=Graham Hill
Daniel Radcliffe=Jim Clark
Domhall Gleeson=Colin Chapman
But both Pattinson and Mr. Harry Potter are past their age, since Jim Clark would play Timothy Chalamet and Graham Hill would play Austin Butler (sorry for putting these two, but my two original options are already about to turn 40) , the Domhall Gleeson I maintain.
Group B definitely needed a movie, it had everything, action, excitement and drama, even had the first female among those crazy drivers that actually won four times, legendary Michèle Mouton.
*gags*
Yes, that's right, this film takes the true story of rally racers Henry Toivonen and Sergio Cresto (CO) where he was driving a Lancia Delta S4, when he turned a sharp corner he was really at high speed and finally he fell into a ravine which caused his fuel tank to leak and then explode. .from this incident was the end of group b in 1986
@@ocdc3261everyone knows women can't drive lol
True but unfortunately this movie will most likely revolve around the early group B era. Which can be about the crazy drivers but not the cars. The crazy cars started coming in late 1985 by which the Audi vs Lancia scene was pretty much over. At least in a dramatic context.
@@pjayx7320 I kinda see it the other way around the 2 giants went to war then all the others joined. It was still crazy but it was different after '83
Clarkson already gave us a taste that this duel was one of the most exciting stories ever.
The Grand Tour story says more in 20min than any Hollywood biopic ever will.

@@63Geary I still haven't figured out if these Comments were genuinely from Röhrl or some sort of elaborate hoax. It was funny though.
I really hope the film captures how… creative the Lancia team were in regards to the official rules. I.e. changing tyres in the middle of a stage, salting icy roads, stalling at the start to let dust clear.
Looks like there’s a scene with a group of production 037s so they may reference how they got around that particular rule.
There’s something about motorsport movies and Daniel Brühl! Looks dope! Can’t wait to watch it!
yeah I thought the same.
The Lad is good! Top pick actor for European racing drivers. Next role for Bruhl, Thierry Sabine!👌
little too dramatic, but finally a movie about WRC, let's go.
That’s the only way to get ppl to watch it
It's a movie, not a documentary.
"little too dramatic"
That is every racing movie ever, it really puts me off and I've only seen a few of them because of that, in spite of my interest in cars and F1.
The painting of one side as the bad guy is so disingenuous as well as each is the protagonist/hero in their own eyes, it isn't like you couldn't portray both sides.
In fact media that shows both sides of things are much more interesting in understanding the people involved as opposed to a simple good vs evil dynamic with an emphasis on the heroes story as if the audience is so incapable of understanding more than one view point.
Not the WRC boy, it is about Group B, and Group B was dramatic for sure.
Wow! i cannot believe they made a movie on Lancia vs Audi WRC rivalry. never saw this one coming. looks very good, looking forward to it.😍😍😍
You know it will be good movie when Jeremy Clarckson already covered this in Grand Tour! I'm in...
Makes you wonder if the segment he did inspired this movie.🤔
@@MRMERLIN_021Was thinking the same thing
Röhrl says that this film is the biggest rubbish he has ever seen.
Next time, Daniel Brühl plays Nico Rosberg, Toto Wolff or Peter Steiner in a F1 drama movie ;) I would watch it!
Peter Steiner huh
I would say , give the guy gray hair and he can play "how I made formula1".

@@y.a.p8951 oh maybe
@@y.a.p8951Fifa made a shameful film with Tim Roth / Sepp Blutter
This was a time where HP and low weight were the most important factors and there was no limits to get them. The things I saw these drivers do here in Portugal and around the world was unbelievable! They had incredible driving skills and I remember the drivers from the snowy regions were notorious for driving in slippery conditions. I remember seeing cars sliding from one curve to the next not taking the foot off the gas without losing control. These cars in the hands of those drivers were like guided missiles but inevitably it reached a point where it had to stop. It was too much HPs and speed and we started seeing too many accidents and losing too many drivers. The drivers that are still around can still drive like hell!
It was an incredible time for rallying. I will never forget the group B cars, the sounds and the smell was visceral
It's the funniest way to drive. A heavy car with lots of HP can be fun to drive, but the lighter a car is, the funnier it is.
And no safety if I am correct Rörhl didnt wanted to drive the Lancia at one point because it was to dangerous
It didn't happen that way in reality
The thing is that, that way didn't work with rally. In rally, handling and acceleration are primary concern. Group B cars were light, and fast, but barely able to drive or almost outright undrivable. Later slower Group A were already faster than Group B as they were drivable, and benefits more from advance in suspension, differential and tyres technology
Where the hell is Michéle Mouton??
Looks like she’ll be in it played by Esther Garrel according to IMDb
Mouton was only important in 1982
The name listed for the actor is “Audi Driver” but the actress has dark hair and is French sooo. But many of the stars have offical character names listed
@@Muttifromdschibuttybut still she’s top of drivers in Audi
@@Muttifromdschibuttyreally not. She played up the big leagues here whole career, even if she had bad luck
As a Lancia fan im already concerned about few details, but I still got hope that Group B will get the credit it deserves.
As an Audi Fan , I have already noticed they did not even used cars looking like the original ones ....
"Inspired by True Events" so not based on. One can assume for movie purposes and mass audience appeal then that 70% of what takes place is purely fictional.
I already know I won’t watch it
which is kinda idiotic, given the drama and curiosities the actual events provide! would really hope for a less blockbuster-dramatized version, more pure 80ies reality!
Nice to see Daniel again. Wonderful actor.
Time to watch video about Audi vs Lancia made by Grand Tour.
Niki Lauda does rally. Looks like one of those movies where the driver suddenly shifts gears and makes his move (every Hollywood racing movie).
I wonder what kind of a move is that gonna be in rallying. Perhaps shifting a gear and making a move straight into a ditch. Or overtaking a truck on a road section :D
Can't make a racing movie without Lauda... I mean Daniel Brühl. I'm hyped.
The T16 ended this madness, but the 037 was undeniably the classic rally car.
Daniel Brühl and speed: two things I love
Very cool subject, but I can already see that they're taking huge liberties with the 1983 season. The big car crash of Attillio Bettega was in 1985, the 037 and Quattro driving directly behind each other, I mean really...
The inspired by true events claim sounds more like a warning then a feature to me.
That being said I very much hope that they prove me wrong.
Attilio's crash in 85 had zero fire. They've put in crash in there to up the drama. Like you said its Inspired so they've taken the premise of Audi vs Lancia in 1983 and made up everything else around it more orless.
Hey @@Marvdogger2 great to see you answering this question. Big fan. I must admit that i myself also took some liberty in presuming that it was Attillio's car who caught fire. But it's probably a combination of that crash and Henri's.
Maybe the crash in the trailer happens later, maybe it's supposed to be Henri Toivonen's crash.
@@juaneerhadn’t the 037 been replaced with the S4 by then? I see no S4 here

Daniel Brühl 🤝playing the “villain” in racing movies. Looks amazing, eager to watch it!
Italians and motorsports... 4 wheels, 2 wheels doesn't matter, they're everywhere.
And always “interpreting” the rules!🫵🤡

The two rally cars racing next to each other tells you everything you need to know about this movie. If you’re form every other country except the states
I’m from the states and I know full well what this means. It can be a good movie without being exactly accurate, I just hope it doesn’t take too many liberties. Obviously they want to make a scene where they can add that climactic wheel to wheel battle because it’s Hollywood, but I hope it’s mostly accurate elsewhere
They had me onboard until that scene... I mean Rush took a lot of liberties but it turned out to be a really good movie... Hope it's the same with this one...
Of course one car can have an issue, resulting in one car catching up a preceding car, resulting in this kind of close situation. I don't know how this movie frames that outcome.
Yep, I was interested in seeing this movie up until that point. Well, a few seconds before that actually. They had, or at least made it seem like, Röhrl would have had Fiorio on the radio in the middle of a stage telling him how much time he needed to make up. Why couldn't they just make it realistic? Group B didn't need hollywood bs to be dramatic.
@@MTB53850 True what Hollywood does, but it isn't a documentary. That's a key difference. Top Gun wasn't a documentary either, but I know a lot of people became pilots after that. I think with the climate change, political pressure, changes in tech, car rallying as we know it will not be the same as it is now. Might as well let people go enjoy a film and learn *something* about the sport (for the newbies).
Daniel Brühl in a racing movie = must watch! He was oscar worthy brilliant as Niki Lauda.
I really hope that "Senna vs Prost" will be the next big racing movie... This one looks great, can't go wrong with Group B...
which one will be played by Daniel Brühl?
I'm so happy that I see Riccardo Scamarcio in more movies lately. He really deserves it, because he is one of the best Italian actors right now. I've been a fan of rally for a few months now and seeing this guy playing in that movie is just...(I feel like a manifested this movie 😅). Looks incredible definitely gonna watch it.
I can't wait for this!!!! 😃🧡 Lancia is one of my favorite brands, so sad it has rough times nowadays... 😪

Those scenes with the cars racing together side by side as if they're road racing is kinda funny
Yeah finally.... Lancia legend 037
I hope they touch on the fact that they only produced half of the cars necessary to clear their entry and most of them had mismatched parts to get them done for cheep. And buying all the salt to put on the corners with snow. And the fact that these cars may or may not have had a roll cage as such in the car
What Audi?!

Half of the cars was with the S4, not with the 037.
Honestly, hard to tell. Feels like Italians liked using that trick (both Lancia and also Ferrari)@@varmastiko2908
Overly dramatic underdog stories are what sells. Facts don’t fit the narrative in Hollywood
Yes! YES! YES! As a fan of Rally I need to see this in cinema. NOW!
Since they seem to be presenting Lancia as the good guys I am really curious if we will see their shenanigans with the ice in Monte Carlo.
I bet, they won't.
Probably, that's why he put ice in Fiorio's drink in the trailer.
Why not? Grand Tour also presented Lancia as good guys and It was still included.
They surely must include these cunning practices. Otherwise, it would just be about 2WD vs 4WD car, which is something that most of the audience won't really care about.

One of the greatest episodes of Automotive History
My son has rally as one of his special interests and cannot be more excited for this movie.
Daniel Bruhl naturally looks immersive in Automotive centric movies than he does in any other genre.
finally a film not about women's F1, but about men's Group B
Não estive vivo para ver isso ao vivo, mas terei a chance de ver essa obra de arte. Ansioso pelo filme.
O grupo B do rally nunca decepciona, literalmente e o melhor grupo que ja existiu no mundo dos rally.
Idk why these movies are not released world wide I had to watch in Amazon prime!!
Aguardando ansiosamente!!!

Can not wait for this!!!! So exciting!
Impressive how they CGI’d the Lancia Beta Monte Carlos in orange and blue, because all those things ended up in the scrap yard years ago.
Lancia back then had the most wins out of all the manufacturers
The best movie of 2024. By Far.
The most boring movie of the 21 century you meen.
@Line-vw5io
Okay, admit it.
I only like it because of the cars and the engines.
The Lancia 037 and the Audi Quattaro.
Some of my favourite cars of all time.
Apart from the Dodge Viper RT/10, the McLaren F1, the Ford GT40, Lotus 49, Lotus 79 and the Mini Cooper S as well as many others.
I also only like it because of the film taking place in 1983, the greatest World Rally Championship of all time and my personal favourite WRC, apart from 1986, 1995, 1998 and 2003.
I also only like it because of Group B which is and was by far the best era of rallying apart from Group A.
And finally, I only like it because it features Walter Rohrl, the greatest rally driver of all time and my favourite rally driver of all time apart from Colin McRae.
I hope you understand all that.
I would like to know, why is in movie about season 1983 crash of Henry Toivonen on Corsica from 1986..
They need the drama. The highs of winning the monte Carlo Rally and then they need the low of an accident (which did'nt happen in 83) so that the team can rise again.
It's more like the fatal crash of Bettega from Corsica 1985...it was with 037 and in the same manner, shown in the trailer...
Don't know, Toivonen fell down a ravine. This crash was too shallow. And Bettega crashed on the driver side not on the co-driver side. But he also broke both legs the year prior probably that one crash they are portraing here (still unfaithful, Bettega broke his legs crashing against a bridge head-on (on the driver side more and way faster than what is portraied in the movie, the car was torn in half). @@wd5vd
And after that season the Peugeot 205 T16 dominated group b until they change the rules. The Delta integrale came in the end of group b rally and gave the 205 some great battles.
The Audi was was a bad car, the engine in front of the front wheels and 50/50 4wd is an understeering monster .
In the 80s the Intergrale and the 205 T16 was the giants.
I'm going to watch the movie soon but I would be disappointed if they don't mention either the 206 t16 or the Delta integrale.
Right on your skilled comment, 💯
Daniel is an amazing guy IRL. Met him and his family where i work
Ford v Ferrari, Ferrari v McLaren, and now Audi v Lancia? Such a great time to be a vintage sim-racing and racing fan in general!
I love the "Daniel Bruhl making history in motorsport" genre.
Amazing. Can't wait to watch it !
The Lancia was only 2 WD, but it was a proper mid-engine racing car, designed as such from the beginning. The Audi was, of course, a 4WD but it was also bigger and heavier, derived from a road car and with the engine at the front. All in all, the championship was more evenly balanced than many think.
Next is Toyota losing on the last lap in 2016 at Le Mans. That hurt.
We dont speak about that. its still gives people nightmares haha. :D
i was standing on the pit straight almost right in front of where he stopped the car. the shock in the crowd was insane, people litterely cried for them. the emotions of LeMans. thats one of the reasons i love motorsports.
I bet it was emotional actually being there when the Toyota stopped ! 😢 I watched Alonso win in 2018 standing at Arnage corner which kind of made up for it a bit ? A WEC movie about Porsche vs Audi might be cool ? Or maybe Aston vs Corvette when Aston won on the last lap ? Us British could be the villains in that one !🤣
Probably the biggest difference between this and other movies of its type, is there’s more focus on the motorsport - and that makes it the best.
Walter stated once the lancia 037 was the best handling car he ever drove !
Two of the best actors of this generation. Make it good
Oh, hell yes. This looks amazing.
Looking forward to this
With Daniel Brühl in this movie, you know this is gonna be epic
I love those Lancia Delta Integrale 037’s…. Have several scale models of them.
As an Audi owner, I will definitely consume a large popcorn while watching this! ;-)
Im glad people are finally making movies on pro racing, we had f1, now we have wrc
Thanks to this movie, the Lancia Delta Integrale EVO I / II has doubled in resale value !
And of course also the Nagra tape recorder !!

Amazing ! this looks promising
I am waiting for it!I think, Group B drivers are the best drivers ever.
I can excuse the fact that they used Beta Montecarlos at 0:53 but the fiery crash at 1:29 makes no sense, it happened in 1986 with the Delta S4

Just finished watching this, gotta say it was a good movie. Every petrolhead should definitely watch this. Just watch it for what it is, don't compare it to Rush or Ford vs. Ferrari, watch it for the story, you won't be disappointed.
Where did you watch it? Apparently, It won't be released worldwide :(
Really excited about this
It's about DAM Time! This incredible story should have been made into a movie 30+ years ago. Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson did an episode on this incredible rally season. As a kid in the 80's, I read all about these incredible cars, and driver exploits in Car and Driver, Road&Track and Automobile magazines. This is exactly my kind of movie. I used to live in a place that had some seasonal gravel roads, and sometimes took some of the cars I've owned on them. Driving powerful cars on gravel takes skill and balls of titanium. Driving these rally cars on the limit scares even the seasoned F1 drivers. I very eagerly anticipate this. Thank you.
Amazing film🎉 I have just watched it
they are observing grand tour episodes closely 😁😁
Great!! I want to see that movie
My predictions:
Final part of the movie teases lancia vs Audi 2 with the delta beating the Quattro
Something tells me this film is going to be better than the trailer. The two leads are both great actors.
hahahhahahahaaaa, just look at the trailer, forget the movie and look at the Clarkson version....
This looks like one to look forward to, the casting looks excellent particularly Daniel Bruhl as Roland Gumpert 👌
