  • Here is something you may not notice, that leads to unsatisfying results in your paintings.
    Some primary color combos can be biased and not create a perfect gray.
    Being aware of this allows you to be more accurate, if you wish to.

    one time I wanted to premix a pan of “as neutral as possible” gray with staining colors for monochrome underpaintings so it doesn’t lift and lose strength so easily. I had to settle with “dark blue, but close enough” Pg7+Pr122 mix :-)
    There are better pigments of course to mix grays, but for this experiment I needed to use colors that are as staining as possible
