Well done. Your first impression is the only one that I've seen so far that has identified that the Claw plays better unplugged!

I’m excited for where the Claw can be in the future when it reaches its max potential, but I’m apprehensive, because Intel has a track record of being behind in the driver department. My first handheld was a OneXplayer with Intel XE graphics, and after three years of updates it is still behind the AMD devices that came out at its time of release.
Got this one since I only want to run FC24 everywhere, anytime I want, the Claw actually pleased me. Haven't had any serious issues so far, but I do really look forward for future driver updates to make the performance smoother.
This is a great review! I got one myself and the ergonomic is something i truly love. It doesnt feel like my hands are straining just to play it.
This Claw looks really good 👍Having different kind of competition is definitely a good sign. The outlook is just amazing and I believe after the latest updates, MSI claw is just getting better and better 🎉

I understand portability with these handheld PCs. Sadly my eyes as a 53 year old gamer have the need for readers and these 7" screens are painful "Not the Legion Go". I game on the Tab S9 Ultra LOL. Another solid video

My friend got the Claw and it feels nice in hand. The Hall Effect joysticks and triggers are great!
Seems like others are having the same issue where if you plug it you loose performance, I'm sure it will be fixed in a update. All handhelds started rocky. Nobody remembers how many bugs the deck released with lol. I'm happy that there is more options, all these companies starting to make handhelds will just push them further to make better devices at a competitive price point.
I agree and look forward to updates correcting these early adopter issues
Hopefully the new update bios and driver can solve the issue and get better user experience

I'm glad pc gaming handhelds are finally making a comeback and its nice to see more competition, inevitably leading to more technical breakthroughs and unlocked potential. And all i gotta say is if Sony is planing on a ps vita 2, they better initiate or company's like these and rog are gunna stomp sony in its own game.
I have a SD and am thinking of a Legion Go for the screen and windows, but I would consider an MSI if it had performance that was close because it has a full TB4 port (and not just USB4 version) - if I was to use it as a desktop replacement, I need to be able to plug in some fussy thunderbolt stuff.
We have to see how this product matures in the market after updates

If you don’t have an hand held yet, would you do the Steam Deck Oled or the field?
For me personally I look for performance so I'm elsewhere but I've heard good things about it but the performance cap on it is too low for me
Steam Deck is great out of the box yes you can do a lot of crazy things but if you are asking this question I bet you got quite a library ready to go. Also the community is the most wholesome of the bunch. I got a 64gb for $200 swapped in a 1tb ssd and have not looked back.
Same with the cheaper Ally with the non-extreme chipset every one of these has kind of an overkill CPU paired to the GPUs that they have or all held back by the GPU. So just like I figured, the non-extreme chipset and the I-5 variant of this one are all far too weak, especially for the price

The Intel 1165G7 was their first proper APU but was released a few years ago, since then Intel haven't really had anything to match what AMD had, until now. Which disappointingly is not up to par with what the AMD Z1 Extreme can produce. Best not purchase the MSI Claw.
Can you confirm if the claw has VRR?
It has been confirmed in an article: “MSI marketing specialist Anne Lee now tells me that product managers have explicitly confirmed it’s a 48-120Hz VRR screen….MSI also provided a screenshot of the Variable Refresh Rate setting turned on in Windows.”

Performs worse than the rog ally and legion go. I wouldn't buy this over either of them. It also burns battery faster while performing worse because intel is not as power efficient as amd.

I really want the Claw U7 but cancelled my pre order last night the jury is out. Can it perform similar with updates or is it going to be ‘DOA’ as many have said… thing that puts me off the Legion is the controllers apparently have play’ and that would drive me mad make it feel cheap I expect them to be properly secured, also sound I’ve read people have issues with crackling speakers.
My legion go doesn’t have movement on the controllers absolutely love mine.
MSI didnt bring anything new to the table, heck they even put the sd card slot there waiting to be cooked. Someone tested this with COD MW3 and it goes to 104 celcius. Good luck to future sd cards he tested the arc 7 155h variants with frequent stutters.
Damn if the ally and claw look very similar. I prefer the ally over the legiong and i chose the steam deck oled over both. I cant wait to see more of what the claw brings. But i do prefer the aspect ratio of the ally 16:9 which is the best. So many games i run on steam deck get black bars because of the 16:10. The ally has some amazing speakers, stays cooler and is a beast but the optimization of the steam deck oled is fire.

Nope the rog ally and legion go perform better than both intel varaints . Plus amd has frame generation which makes the performance even higher so not even worth it honestly.

unfortunately at the moment it loosing to ally ; it takes more power and perform worse - device is still raw and i have a feeling intel will keep making bad drivers .
I wonder how many fps would crysis remastered be like. Crysis remastered is my go to game for reference and benchmark with can it run crysis mode in every graphics settings as well as playing the game. On my gaming laptop from the 2022 razer blade 15 with it's intel core i9-12900h, 4k 144 hz display, 32gb ram and 3080 ti 16gb vram version. I get around 20 or less fps with can it run crysis mode in every graphics settings with native 4k always enabled, ray tracing enabled, v sync off, motion blur off, dlss off, and ray tracing experimental boost enabled. I always have settings enabled. If there is an option for turning off fps limit and enable unlimited fps, I always have unlimited fps enabled for every game that supports it even with ray tracing enabled and always playing in native 4k. I use all the vram as much as possible for every game that I play since I max out all the shaders, details, graphics, everything that improves the graphics fidelity with 0 upscaling. There is a graphics settings in gta 5 that uses 15gb of vram. I don't use dlss since it up scales the graphics and I always go for native 4k for every game that I play because I want the highest visual fidelity with no upscaling at all. I'm an only 4k user for movies and video games. I try to match the 4k video game visual fidelity similar to 4k movies on 4k uhd discs that supports hdr and dolby vision on select titles of 4k movie discs. There are certain 4k movies on 4k discs that has hdr or dolby vision, the 4k movies have hdr or dolby vision instead of both hdr and dolby vision at the same time since that's what I'm looking for 4k movies. For audio fidelity, there is no thx for 4k and blu ray discs. Older certain titles of dvds have thx for hi res audio fidelity but all 4k and blu ray discs lack hi res audio fidelity that is found on dvds. 4k and blu ray discs have better visual fidelity where as dvd has better audio fidelity while being lower resolution. Dts and dolby has the option to compress the audio while thx has certain standards that need to be met for hi res audio fidelity. For instance, star wars george lucas star wars movies use thx for hi res audio fidelity because they use it as the highest quality standard that george lucas wanted to have for cinemas and movies in theaters before dts and dolby atmos existed. There are still audiophile dacs from ess and burr brown and other manufacturers that use the thx aaa 789 linear headphone amplifier and even the thx onyx portable dac and amp that use thx amps for driving high impedance headphones. Dts and dolby atmos are just audio codecs and can be low quality or high quality depending on the manufacturers if they choose to go the low quality or high quality route for there products that they sell in order to make a quick buck. When something is new its the very first thing that always gets used for marketing purposes in order for the manufacturers to make a quick buck but the majority of the manufacturers cut corners to make money without the average consumer knowing about it unless someone does research about the products before they make purchase decisions.

I checked some other channels and this is their first impression gripes (Ultra 7 version): You can only charge using their dedicated charger thats like a laptop charger (means youll always ganna bring other charging brick on the go), bad bumper buttons, draws more power to wattage ratio than AMD APU’s like Ally, the most worst in battery compared to AMD devices, Some mysterious stutters happen from time to time like this video’s fps gameplay. And I predict this handheld will have the same or worser problem of destroying SD card cuz of heat. 😂 Just buy an Ally, with Claw’s pricepoint you could buy 2 Ally with micro SD on top.😂
I'm not picking up one because one I already have a steam deck and the msi claw sounds like a toy on top of that it already has problems I saw videos already on it and it definitely not for me give it to a kid u just waste your money on it give it a week I bet you going to return it in lol
Someone once said.. that if a current handheld having 16 cores 22 thread.. THAT many cores.. It is probably red flag. They hiding something... You don't need to use 16 core in a hand held device..
Uhh, there's a lot of efficiency cores that are designed to take up super light things and the performance are for everything else that's remotely intensive.

I think it's clear this thing is dogshit. Glad I avoided all the noise with these Windows handhelds and picked up an OLED Steam Deck. I would still like a Windows handheld, but they just seem a generation behind the Steam Deck right now. At this point it seems like our last hope is going to be Microsoft with an handheld Xbox lol.
What you on about? ROG Ally/LegionGo performs 70-100% better than SD Oled and are a generation ahead.
Uhh, the Steam Deck is the worst followed by the Z1 in the Ally. The CLAW is using new graphics hardware and Intel hasn't been in the proper gaming graphics game for years now. XeSS is already surpassing FSR when it comes to quality. They are a strong contender, especially when you realize they have lots of room to go to push harder. Knowing Intel, they'll pick up the pace now that they're in the process of making Battlemage.
What you said makes absolutely no sense. Steam deck is slower and is uses older hardware. Plus steam deck is not even 1080p its 800p. Rog ally plays games at 1080p. Way better cpu and gpu.
@@justswitched8841yeah but those 1080p triple a games only last an hour on the ally or legion go. Why do you even need 1080p on a handheld with a small screen? 1080p and above is more noticeable on large monitors. The refresh rate is what's important.
@arclight7892 Not actually true. There's definitely a noticeable difference between 800p and 1080p. I had steam deck and I own both the legion go and rog ally. The steam deck is not even. On same level performance wise. I do drop my resolution to 800p or 900p when on battery to save power.
