I do agree that it is still very early and we should expect updates, but also I don’t give them a pass because they should have looked at the improvements that the competition made and implemented those from the very beginning. They are releasing a product after their established counterparts, it should be better not worse. 🤷🏽♂️
A valid point that I was saving for the review. Respect
@@CJKnowsTECH no doubt. I also kinda don’t trust Intel because I have an Intel handheld from a few years ago (OneXplayer 1s) and it’s still getting driver updates, but it’s STILL doesn’t outperform the AMD chips from when it was released. (5000 series) if it takes a year for the claw to be the best version of itself, by that time the next generational AMD handouts will be out it yet again.
I love handhelds, and excited for the future, but the Claw really seems like a miss especially at $800.
Agreed, Intel entering this market should be blowing away AMD to make a statement. So far, this device is a joke.... No excuse for releasing a device with this performance. Maybe updates will fix it but, they have a LONG way to go to get to AMD level in games....
Thats why i’m going to stick with my Legion go till the ally 2 or that gpu win 4 8840u release.
Wait for the update
thx for the video and the transparency
The Ally at launch on COD was like butter. Upper 90s to 110
The problem with the ultra 7 is the processor has too many cores so both the cpu and gpu have to fight for power. If you disable turbo boost the gpu should get better.
I'm still gonna get one, just because I don't want amd to be the only option for handheld. I'm gonna put my faith in msi and Intel and hope they keep slamming out bios and driver updates to get it to where it should be.
Did you restart the device? Thats happened to me and a restart fixes the issue. Or check you audio settings on the notification bar.
The only true one to share MW3 benchmark thank you. I’m getting 117fps on 20w with the rog ally. Please try fsr3 balanced if you have that setting pretty please
framegen adds latency so it's better to not use it in fps games if it's not absolutely necessary.
The only reason i'd go the legion over all the others is becuase with the other ones you're getting a gaming handheld. With the legion you're getting a laptop basically. Dunno how to explain it well.
Yeah its not just a gaming handheld but a multi-media device
Facts. I love my Legion Go. Best handheld out right now.
I have the legion go and boy this thing does feel like a laptop. I been playing helldiver's 2 on it and it's been a blast
The audio is the ai noise cancel for speakers in msi center. turn it off and the games audio will work
Yo! Are you from Illinois? 😮
I just bought an ALLY Z1X today. Not sure what I think so far (but, I much prefer my SD OLED up to this point); however, I really do not understand why every review says the Ally is the most pleasing. I think that, while it looks much better (and feels great) IRL, I think the Claw, Deck and GO look much, much better aesthetically. I am partial to black consoles, but even so I don't know how anyone could think the Ally looks anywhere near the Claw. I have zero interest in the Claw, but I'll keep it a buck: It looks way better, aesthetically, to me.
Can u run siege on this
What camera were you using for the shot looking down ?
Sony FX30
All I wanna know is which one will play Star Citizen properly?
You must be trolling.
Wait, which is the best? Asus Rog Ally or MSI Claw? I’m about to buy a handheld console . But I need the most powerful.
Word on the street is that the ROG Ally 2 release is imminent. The current Ally is better than the claw and cheaper. Could wait as I see the claw going on sale very very soon
@@Kudzai2010 thank you , and I shared your opinion
Legion Go FTW
Why do you want the most powerful? Not a rhetorical question, actually asking. I went for steam deck because it's got the best battery life and ease of use even if the performance is weaker
@@aaronjosephs2560 Because I focused on performance, I don’t really focus on the battery . I want to play all my games with a Medium setting. That’s the reason I need the most powerful. But you’re right all of suggestions that I found they have gone for the SD
the only problem with this MSI hendheld device is : it is using the STANDARD THIN ULTRABOOK laptop chips found in "business" laptops. its not for gaming. the Z1 extreme is a CUSTOM chip made for gaming.
MSI simply use the standard laptop chip.and not any laptop, its a THIN business laptops.
they could order for a CUSTOM core ultra chip from intel that comes with a better custom arc GPU version, but they decided to use the standard ones. thats the only problem. a quick buck. with no long careful planning.
The worst on MSI claw and no one mention is that in the back shell the midle screw has a warranty seal which if you broke it to open it you say goodbye to your warranty, and to swap the SSD you need to take off the heatsink😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
these devices are like consoles and apple, its a SOC. so its integrated graphics. can't mix and match cpu and gpu. heard nividia is working on one with their SOC.
I know just dreaming but I do like forward to NVIDIA’s offering
These chips can have a dedicated GPU as that's what pretty much all gaming laptops have. Plus the chip in the MSI Claw is used in some Gaming laptops on the Market like the Asus Zephyrus M16. The issue is thermals not the fact that it uses an APU
See how I see it it's like this the company should have kept up-to-date with these units before shipping them out and kept them all good because a lot of people are returning them back their pre-orders and there's a lot of bad reviews and a lot of bad comments on this device so that saying MSI screw themselves because you got to think about it in a different point of view which is when you purchase this right sometimes you only have a 15-day window and some companies they don't send out softwares until like 2 or 3 weeks so there you go your windows closed now you can't return it now you're stuck with a device that you can't return same thing that happened with me in the legion go so I mean at least Lenovo kept up with their updates right away back-to-back 2 weeks after they released the device in public but since I had my Legion gold from the beginning everything was all right with it I didn't have no problems with it yeah a little software problems here and there but like I said after they released that device into the public it was back-to-back updates now it's been a couple weeks like 3 weeks or so since they haven't had an update but they just released one couple of days ago so that saying it's a hit or miss it's either you keep the device and the window closes of you returning it and you don't get enough updates to fix enough things that's wrong with it or you return it back it's all on you
There is no way you could fit an Nvidia dedicated GPU in a handheld like one of these and one have it cooled well and two be able to run on battery well. Even the lowest wattage 4050 laptop GPU would cause issues and you're better off using the iGPU built into the APU rather than a dedicated solution. Intel really needs to figure out a way of having more efficiency. For one it does help to turn off CPU boost as it allows the GPU to get more power. The CPU is boosting way too high and giving the GPU less power than it should get. Same reason why I turn off CPU boost on the Ally as it reduces wattage and CPU power consumption.
Still the MSI claw probably needs more driver updates from Intel as often times their drivers hold them back as seen with their big desktop ARC GPUs. Granted I don't think they'll beat the AMD Z1X but they need to work on low wattage performance. The lowest TDP performance mode should be 8-10w for the lowest end mode. Handhelds need to perform well at low wattages so you can use them longer away from the wall
After first impressions I reckon only UA-camrs are buying this thing at this price point and performance.
Bro you have to wait 6 month or 1 year for fully optimization it just came out just like the rog ally having huge issue now 6 months later it is king
Exactly, might be $100 cheaper too
Legion Go is king.
by sales, we all know who is king.
after a year amd next gen apu will be in the market soon.
Yeah, just like you need to wait a year for your car to be driveable. 😂
if they made it twice as thick and twice as loud they could stick like a RTX 4070 in there and it would have battery life of about 20 minutes lol...
😂😂😂
I don't know why companies keep realising gaming handhelds and then when they come out and we get them they are shit 1 the mai claw 2 rog ally and 3 some other ones like come one they got to do better with making handhelds making sure they are fully completed on lunch.
I'd love to see a different game played as opposed to CoD
I will in the upcoming review...this was just me sharing my first setup experience
Its not a "bottleneck" its a limitation.
Bro you showed us the most well optimized game for performance. You could choose any ofher AAA game instead but didnt, guess you have your reasons..
I chose this game because it’s the one I’d play the most on these handhelds. I will test other games but my number one first try is the game I’ll play most
@@CJKnowsTECHas you should this game still is heavy played by users and first thing they wanna know is can it run cod
@@brandonsmith6962 I don't think the first thing people wanna know is if CoD works, not from what i've heard anyway. The question *I* keep hearing is "Will it be easy to use and run ANYTHING I want it to?"
@@jonathanmardukas5940well yeah of course
MSI gotta do better
I would not buy anything with the MSI label on it.
@@BReal23-qm8hs why not?
I've never owned anything from them
Intel CPU with an Nvidia GPU? You wouldn't even be able to lift it because it would need such a huge battery bro.
😭😭😭
This might officially be the worst launch to a handheld yet 🤦♂️ lol
Windows is the problem, from what I can see, it's always the problem. Microsoft needs to step up and start making a handheld centric version of Windows, when it comes down to it, anyone who is a PC gamer would still need to use a mouse and keyboard on these units to feel comfortable. It's why Steamdeck still reigns supreme even though its hardware is less than optimal...it just works out of the box for what you hold in your hands
It's not windows, it's Intel's drivers. Switching to a linux based OS like Bazzite won't fix these issues. SteamOS also doesn't get any better performance in the vast majority of games than windows. This has already been tested
The legion go feels pretty good to be honest. No problems here with windows and the small track pad the controller has its pretty accurate. I installed so much things on this so far and it's been a great experience
@@crestofhonor2349 I dunno bro, Windows makes it really tough for anyone coming from say an only console gaming experience, with no prior knowledge of Windows, to the handheld PC market. Windows on a desktop has enough quirks as it is, never mind throwing no keyboard and mouse into the mix especially on those units (ROG Ally) with no trackpad and a really crappy workaround in a joystick to guide the mouse cursor. It's just clunky. The onus should be on Microsoft to get their handheld (call it whatever ya want, Windows Compact, or Handheld) and gear it toward controller type UX's along with a more minimalist OS in the background. Right now, the ENTIRE Windows experience gets loaded onto these handhelds with so much unnecessary nonsense running in system services. So, of course it's gonna be a horrible gaming session. Also, the companies using anti-cheats, need to work with Microsoft in any future Windows version specifically for use with handhelds. Just my opinion
I’m good with the steam deck it’s way better than that thing
The 7 has 2 more cores
yup 2 more performance cores
Handhelds don’t have GPU. They have a cpu and gpu together as one known as APU.
literally wrote "let me dream in peace...lol" on the screen...
No thanks. Seeing in the initial reports: high heat levels; can’t adjust VRAM; rigid bumpers; noisy fans; opening to update SSD 👎 And MSI wants more money than the rest.
Intel has always automatically adjusted VRAM amounts for its iGPU. It's not really that big of a deal
MSI: Why do we have to innovate? Just take the cad files for the Rog ally and blow it up a bit. Then make enough changes to it so we don't get sued. Also, throw one of those stupid Intel chips and call it innovation. 😊👍
Too bad u only show cod. And not normal games most people play on handhelds
More games will be on review this was honestly my setup process…couldn’t even get to other games as I spent the entire day trying to get this one up and running
intel good for cpus but gpu nope. they should of had nvidia make the the gpu. see amd they make cpus and gpus they have the experience on that intel is like a chief who is always cooking now he wants to be a race car driver nope not gonna work. the Rog Ally and Steam deck. got the handheld market on lock AMD is winning.
Plus it look like a Chinese handheld I’m good I saw your first video on it and I can tell that thing isn’t worth me paying for it I feel like they copycat and if you can’t play with a charger than no not for me I don’t think anybody should not spend money on it you will regret it 😂
Why is the ugly intel sticker on front?
I would say the msi on the bottom is uglier as you can't peel it off
Msi claw is suck intel inside screen lag fix problem I really good rog ally is win
This thing suck dude i regret buying it
i hate design msi like china made
