In fact, you do. At many points in my life, when I had long hair, I tried showing hair stylists how I wanted my hair (Like Mikku from An Cafe) Not one of them could pull it off. I even grow it to shoulder length so they'd have something to work with, but, nope. No one could ever get it right.

Actually, it really does help because Asians have thicker and more coarse hair than say, Caucasian people. Figured that out the hard way when I had a lady cut my hair in Japanese hairstyle and it failed. Also my boyfriend is Asian and I can feel the difference in our hair ^^;
