So not only are you doing all of the kaizo stuff but you have to minimize how often you bounce off the same enemy to get through certain platforming sections to not get unnecessary lives. Evil idea number 2: The game is also set up to fail you and kick you back to start if you don't get star fanfare at every opportunity with the end of level cards. Evil idea number 3: The game is set up that if you get through every section without dying once and avoid every 1up and unneeded coin you possibly can yet get all the star fanfares, you end up with 98 lives and 99 coins.
Mario 1 ROM hacks start you in a level.... so not "literally" the only :P I'll die on the hill of misusing literally, because now we have no other word to replace it.
I guess the tile type that locks you in a straight line like you're flying in the ceiling? I was waiting for it to be called it too but maybe I missed it
