Drove a 23’ (service loaner) from the dealership and was hanging my lip a little because the newer Mini had such a nice interface. Without Android Auto its not worth it to upgrade for me. I love my 2017 Software. I love the 3D apperance, more contrast in colors. Darker background. And i dont have nasty fingerprints on it. But its my opinion
Yeah I wish it had android auto. That way I could get an Android phone!!
Yeah, if your an android user it’s probably best to simply wait.
Good question, I’ll have to look into that. I know that I have said different phrases to get the same results but that probably doesn’t necessarily mean it has natural speech.
Can the gauge cluster also be upgraded to one of the new ones? Also have a 2017 model with the orignal system. Love the look of the new one but I rarely use it, so can't justify the cost (no idea how much the upgrade is but I'm guessing not cheap).

Hello - great video! Any clue how you turn off the traffic announcements that interrupt the radio? I can cancel the current notification when it appears but not switch them off entirely...

I own a 2021 JCW Mini Convertible - Love it but need to know how to get the SHUFFLE function working on my USB port. It is on the menu but never shuffles rather plays a CD as loaded and then goes to the next. Not sure if its the format I loaded all of this music onto the USB or if I am missing activating something on the infotainment system itself. Dealership is not helpful to this point.
Congrats on the new MINI!! Did you by chance take a look at the owners manual? Not 100% sure off the top of my head as I dont use that functionality often, I will have to play with that!
I am from Trinidad.The BMW-MINI does not have Maps from my country which falls under the South America FSC for maps.With the GPS port connected, my MINI still shows me the position >latitude & longitude of where i am on the maps but not the roads & paths or directions.I use Waze & Google Maps on the Apple Car Play. I am able to screen mirror the Android phones on the screen as well but no wireless Android Car play.
I couldn't find an Android phone to test, that's sad to hear its still not supported! Hope they figure out that in the future.

Hello, Unfortunately as this is an OEM unit, MINI does not support android auto, just mirror link and Apple CarPlay. If you are still interested, send me a dm on instagram or an email
What about carplay? I have older model, non touch screen, and installed some piggy box to work with. Kind of happy with it but still i like the OEM touch screen and would consider to install the same system you have.
Yes, the install adds the OEM wireless CarPlay. The whole upgrade is quite expensive though. If your interested, send me a dm on Instagram or an email and I can write you up a quote for your specific car.

The person who coded my HeadUnit on the Color Scheme, mentioned that the feature is will work/possible only with the newer models & not my 2018 CountryMan.Were U able to code it to work?.
Oh interesting! No we have not figured out a way to get it to work. Mine is a 2017 so that may be why. Good to know!

Yes it is possible! It is difficult though, but I have the parts for the upgrade and should be doing a video series on it at some point!

For sure! I believe if you want all the options (like the a/c) you need to get late 2018 and newer. You do need the MINI connected package, so when you are looking at cars make sure you specify this and why you want it to the dealer.
Actually, if its a deal breaker, when you are close to buying a car, see if you can add it to the app on your phone! It does take a little for the app to verify and get all the features, so remember that when you do it. Good luck in your car search!!

Been researching a lot and now a Clubman S or even JCW ALL4 could possibly be a consideration, but really bummed to hear even for MY2022 that Mini still has no Android Auto hurts. I was never an Apple fan so switching phones is out of question.
Yeah it is frustrating. I hear its coming in the near future, but until then! There is an android aftermarket box you can put in your car, but it is aftermarket.

This week, I am swapping my Piano Black Passenger Dash Trim > Yours Piano Black Illuminated Dash Trim.Apparently all MINI vehicles 2018 & older must have a 3 dangling wires that can be used to enable this feature, once we have the part.I am going to try & do that, since my F60 has the wires already.

@@carcreationsyt I got my "Mini-decorative-trim-pass-side-il-514041-51459350476" Yours Package from "MINI Parts Direct" website.The Illuminated Dash Trim-Piano Black came with the 3 LED modules populated on the rear and it was a plug & play!.Works well.It took them close to a month to make & ship the item(Right Hand Drive) from Germany to US after the order.I understand that all MINI after 2018 have these 3 dangling wires behind the Passenger Dash Trim.The Illuminated Dash also comes in British Oak & ChestNut(discontinued) colours.There are newer Dash patterns & colours for the 2020 & 2021 models of MINI but i have not been able to spot them on the Parts catalogue.

Oh really? Thats frustrating. Did you try connecting it using the USB cable? I had to setup my app with the Clubman via that method.
Not since the new app launched but the old one I tried that. Going to give it a go now and see what happens.
My coder did not add the Mini Connected & Mini calendar app on my HeadUnit. I am from Trinidad & Tobago/Caribbean and i am told by the Android & Apple store that the app is not available for download in my region!.
Oh really? Interesting. So there is a way to get the app... Connect to the US with a VPN on your phone, then create a new Apple ID with a ZIP code from the states. Then the app should appear in your store! Sometimes the VIN won't work in the App Store, but sometimes it does work! Worth a try anyway.

Yes it does!! Use Waze almost exclusively!
My 2016 mini JCW dose not even connect with the app anymore, Mini have wrecked what was working fine.

Hello, I have watched both videos of your installation of the new 2022 entertainment system and review and would love to have this installed in my Mini Cooper. Do you know if this can be installed in a 2012 Mini Countryman? My car does not have the toggle buttons like yours did plus I have the dvd player under the radio. Also can the dvd player be used with the new entertainment system? Thanks

do you think I could do this with my 2014 countryman s? I know it may be a bit too old to work with the new system, but I figured it's worth asking, as I don't like the aftermarket systems. It just has the small red blocky screen, not the actual one, I know some of them came with proper screens but mine didn't.
Hello, thanks for watching the videos!! I am sorry I have bad news though. Unfortunately this infotainment only works with F series minis. I believe the 2014 countryman is an R60.

Sorry but the mini connected app becomes available on your car if you install this 2022 screen? You said that you have a 2017 clubman; so you couldn’t use the mini connected app (because it is only available on 2018 models or later, right?)
I have a mini One 2015, so mini connected app doesn’t work, if I install the screen it becomes available?
Sadly the new MINI app didnt end up working. The older MINI connected app still does though

Any F series. So 2014 and newer for F55,F56, and F57 hatchbacks.
And 2017 and newer for F54 and F60 cars. (Clubman and countryman)

You should be able to turn it off or at least change the sound to something less annoying with Carly or BimmerCode. We have videos on both apps on our channel

You mention adding a GPS dongle. I am about to get a new mini cooper but didn't get sat Nav, can it be added retrospective?
It is most likely doable, however you would need to check to see if the head unit had the port to add the dongle. Not all of them do.

Or do you not need the dongle if Apple Car play has waze?
@@jerrypfannkuche9908 if you have CarPlay then Waze will work fine without the gps dongle. The gps dongle will only give you the mini navigation.
Waze works using the gps on your iPhone.

We never where able! Its odd because we can on newer cars, but none of the older ones.
@@carcreationsyt Ok, my coder said that only on the newer 2021 cars, its possible to enable that "custom color for menu" feature.So until a solution comes out, we r stuck with the green colour for older vehicles. Also the BimmerCode app that we use to change/add features does not recognize my "used retrofit HeadUnit" that was VIN coded for my vehicle.My coder said that the App is old and i should not change any settings on the headunit becoz the "OEM component protection system" can recognize/kick in/on my unit and lock it permanently!.

@@carcreationsyt The HeadUnit that you swapped into, is that a brand new HeadUnit authorised by the BMW-MINI?.I am asking becoz the New head unit costs around 3000 US$ & another 1500US$ to code it VIN into the car by the dealer. My HeadUnit is a used one that was custom coded to suit my MINI and it costed me around a 1100 US$ in all.

It is still pretty close to the 2021 version .....and truly in my opinion should not be used when car is in motion! I am all for making it inoperable when speed is above 5mph. With such discussion over issues with texting and driving, yet someone thinks it is a good idea to basically have a tablet to control some car functions? Good explanation of functions. (Oh and the new app is still pretty much like the older app, hoping they will be improving it.)
Its crazy the amount of stuff they put on the screen these days. MINI is quite good actually, but take Tesla for example. You need the touch screen for windshield wipers!

I see the guy in video he doesn't have the speakers on each side near the windshield my 2017 has Harmon kardon speaker system total 11 speakers all 4 doors have speakers one on each side above dashboard near windshield 2 subwoofers one under each front seats and in rear next to the small windows on each side plus that one in center on dashboard
Yeah I don’t have the HK setup. This system will still work perfectly fine with HK speakers and some users have reported that it sounds better with the new infotainment system.

Hi Ethan. I’m aware of at least three people who have experience coding Minis who have enabled the different color schemes. I’m disappointed you continue to promote bimmerfixes, when they charge higher than average prices and do not have a solution for this. The only possible explanation is that you are compensated by them for your promotion. It is disappointing that you are helping sell and likely profiting from an unfinished product.

Mine was the first system they coded, so it was a beta test and proceeded knowing it would be unfinished.
My goal is to help the MINI community with the knowledge and BimmerFixes has helped me out with coding and installation support behind the scenes. Without them, none of my projects would have happened so don’t mind giving them a shoutout.
I encourage people to find a coding specialist and cheaper parts!
I make 1-2% of every product sold through me, but it’s really only a labor of love as I spend hours helping out each person.
We have not sold any of the 2022 upgrades yet, till we are 100% sure every issue is fixed.

It's better a China 2din. It's 2021 and there is not android auto or mirror link. The fact it's we see all the mini with the snartphone attached in the air conditioning whole. Unbelievable...
It does have mirror link! Sad about android auto though. Hopefully in the future.
So it’s the same as the old system with different graphic! Waste of money!
If your upgrading from the non touch screen it adds a lot of functionality, and if your upgrading from the version with touch screen, its just a software re-flash.
I’ve had a 2022 mini countryman for a rental and this car sucks donkey balls. Absolutely sucks

CarPlay - should be accessible by a simple plugging in of your device but I’ve watched all videos related to this and still can’t get it to even appear as an option
When you stop and open your door, every door should unlock automatically
Width of the car - very dangerous in snow as it’s hard to follow the tracks of the previous cars and wants to constantly suck you off the road
When you lock the car, no noise or lighting confirming you’ve locked the car
Climate control - only a “max” defrost button. You cant have it on low or mid
Power - I haven’t driven a car this slow since an 89 ford tempo
No adaptive cruise control
Some of these peeves may be a setting I can change but overall this car is just not good in my opinion
