Wonderful ! captivating ! I have never seen a city so beautiful in my whole life. It's Allah's pradaise on Earth. And the Amhara people cared for it with rare ingenuity and initiative. They're a great civilisation. Now I understand why the Ethiopians ruled Yemen for many centuries and their wise Queen Bilqis erected the great Kingdom of Sheba. It will be a dream come true if I get a chance to visit Bahri Daar, place my feet in Lake Tana and enjoy an exotic dinner of grilled fish and injero .Greetings from Hargeisa, the Republic of Somaliland.

its not that as the medias exaggerate it. there are some area that are restricted for tourists. other places are free to enjoy yourself.

Ethiopia is the first country I visited out of Kenya while I was still a student in 2016. Though I had been out of the continent.

Ethiopia is beautiful but it is not a paradise to those who live there. You did not show the daily struggle in BaharDar. Tourists who have money find paradise everywhere.
What a backward thinking, the more tourists go the more money and the more jobs that are created. Right now it is tough anywhere even those of us living on n Europe are feeling the rise of prices.

Africa and Ethiopia as a part of it need own production and independance. Your thinking kan hold Ethiopia back from own culture and proudness! But it is a beautiful country with a beautiful and unik culture.
@@Flower-ck2bs Well, Bahir Dar is actually one of the few livable cities in Ethiopia where the poor can get by easily. Access to food isn’t expensive if you know where to buy it. Farmers from surrounding areas bring their produces to small markets where the prices are dramatically lower than the mainstream price of some produce. The city isn’t that big so cost of transportation is almost negligible since you can walk most parts(if you are that poor). Work is abundant for the less fortunate too because it is a regional capital and there are a lot of low tier jobs. Tourism also have a substantial impact on creating work opportunities.
I am not saying there are no people suffering from poverty there but the poor in Bahir Dar are way better off than the poor in Addis Ababa. As one of our poets Bewketu said “the cheapest meal(for the poor) in Bahir Dar is fish, while in Addis it’s just thoughts”.
