Your off the cuff line about Paul McBeth being a baseball player made me realize I need to think of the drive like a baseball swing I have done my whole life! Thanks for all the videos!
I love the "Practice makes permanent" line, I felt that! I need to really hammer out some field work...biggest challenge is finding an unoccupied field LOL
Hey y'all, have you considered doing a video on how to practice with a net? I feel like more and more people are getting them, and I'd love your take on the best way to make progress using one. Thanks!
This is definitely in the top 20 of videos you guys have put out!! But seriously great content. You break things down to a very simple level making it easy to execute and improve our game. Thanks for what you guys are doing.
Dont think weve really seen you throw like this before, love it! super sweet backhand and that forehand too, such a snap and so smooth! time to head back to the field....
Yeah... I've avoided throwing backhand on the channel because I don't like looking at it. Comments like yours help immensely though. I appreciate you taking the time to write something nice.
@@OverthrowDiscGolf all good man, love your work. It's the first time I've seen Drew Gibson properly throw last weekend (I'm pretty new to the game) yiu have lots of similarities and something I'm starting to model off.
Watching where your head is when you throw just helped me today with my round. I found that I’ve been trying to sneak a peek too early, and this video helped majorly. That was my “one thing” for today, so thanks for that!
Ironically this is what I worked on during my field work after watching myself on this video. Lol. Sometimes I take my head back too far to where it’s looking behind me.

I made a makeshift baseball net with old bed sheets and a steel bar that i wedge between trees in my backyard, works like a charm. My footwork is horrible, but my upper body is pretty solid.
Thanks for the great video. Using discs on the ground to mimic gaps in concert with the target downfield is such a simple, brilliant idea. It can be difficult for me to translate my fieldwork to the tight woods courses that I play.
Same, I’m trying to train myself to slow down and do standstills and make it as effortless as possible instead of trying to kill the disc when I throw it.
Thank you, I haven’t competed in a tournament in a while maybe two years, but I want to compete in the Dynamic Disc open this year, and it’s about a month and a half out, so I wanna get ready for it, I don’t like going to tournaments just to play, I want to go to finish in the top if not win it! I think this routine will help me get back on point.
Can you please breakdown my form. I have a clip you can use and I know alot of newer players have similar struggles that i do and can learn alot from a solid breakdown. Thank you for the awesome content.

What is this "one thing at a time"? I can focus on it for one throw, then some sort of ADHD sets of in my brain and i start focusing on everything else :D
If it helps, you can think about other things and put them on a checklist. Work one one thing, look at how they affect other things. Oh hey I did this with my feet and it made my upper body do something crazy. Oh hey I adjusted it this way, now it feels good in the rest of the body, stuff like that. Also I find if I'm thinking too much, I'll do practice throws, not releasing the disc. I'll even literally shake it off to loosen myself up. These things work for me clearing my head, try to find what helps you do the same.
@@tieegg I thought practise shots without the release was overkill, then I found myself slipping on quite a few teepads, doing this on that practise shot and being able to correct the "run-up" can save you a lot of roughtime.
Perfect timing as always! Great content. I'm trying to get the nerve to record myself and send it out for critique (wink wink), but love the channel and the work!
Just record it and don't show it to anyone. You'll loathe yourself enough to go out and do field work after that. Haha. Speaking from personal experience.
Another great video! My forehand (right handed) aim is always on a line left of my target. My front foot is pointed to the target but the line of the throw is always more left than I want. Is that likely that I’m releasing it too late?
That could be a few things so I’m not sure. Could be your hips not rotating back enough, foot too open, path of your upper body, etc. I’d have to see it.
You said in the learning your discs portion to throw the disc where you’d normally throw that from, how do you know that before you learn your discs? Are there like kind of base guidelines that everyone is more or less close to in terms of when you throw what
Good question. In the beginning you’re going to have to eyeball it. From there you can get really scientific and measure your avg distance with each disc or just develop your eye for gauging distances.
I really appreciate showing Josh physically doing the field work throughout each type. Something about that really hit home for me about how to change up what I'm doing the field. Great content, as always! As an amateur, these videos and Uli's Down the Fairway are my favorite things to see pop up with new content in my feed because I know I will get a ton out of them.
just starting out and I hear about the pop coming from the disc leaving the hand, but I don't hear it really this well in other videos. Is that just the reaction to good speed, or is it form? def hear a good pop with each throw, even your standing putter throws. cool.. Oh could be mic placement!
I'm trying to get away from throwing a permanent hyzer.. I can't throw flat for the life of me. I can throw anhyzer decently. just can't figure it out. I'm a lefty
