    Haven't yet turned my focus to Vietnam 100%, still have several months (combined) left in Bangkok and Siem Reap. Your videos are most definitely very helpful!

    100% local markets for me. I meet a ton of Vietnamese women that way. Markets are more for married. I learn a lot more Vietnamese in local markets.

    great video. How much do you spend on groceries weekly. Is it cheaper to buy fruits and vegetables at Lotte or use open markets

    Moonmilk is another good option in Danang. Pricey but good for imported western food products.

    Hi Travis, at the local markets, do they display prices? Do they make foreigners pay more?
    I am so impressed with your language skills.

      There’s a fine example of your supremely ignorant audience. But these choads will come here for 90 days and claim they experienced Vietnamese culture.

    • @TravisTravelsVN
      @TravisTravelsVN  День тому

      It's all priced by the kilogram, but rarely posted. I think most people are honest and won't try to charge you more. Whatever you buy they will put in a scale to weigh then tell you the price, so if they ever just hand it to you and ask for money I would be suspicious.

    I'm finding it pretty hard to make any connections in Da Nang because of the language barrier... I've moved to the other side of the river to experience the culture a bit more (as opposed to a load of expats getting drunk in My An) I'm wondering if you have any advice for learning the language? Are language exchange schools the best way? Thanks Travis

    • @TravisTravelsVN
      @TravisTravelsVN  День тому

      Ya definitely have to do a language school or find a private teacher.

    Mega mart is far superior to Lotte Mart. You don't have to navigate 4 floors and the vegetable, meat sections and bakery are not even comparable.

    I live in district 1, and I feel the need to tell you that this type of filthy wet market passed down from one generation to the next without improving its sanitation. That’s because the mindset is mediocre and slum. Sad. Văn hóa dân Việt là bam dập nên đi đến đâu cũng gây chuyện tham lam gian lận trộm cắp, sống thiếu ý thức vứt rác bừa bãi. Đó là sự thật từ chối không được mà phải thay đổi.

    I get that you want to travel and be a digital nomad and you’re making money from UA-cam etc but you need to realise that the more vloggers that do this the more people flock to to these places and the more crowded they get and the higher the prices rise. Eventually they just turn into overcrowded sh*tholes like Bali and Chiang Mai. If you find a great place just shut up and don’t tell anyone. The world is running out of places to escape to.

    • @nicksanders9299
      @nicksanders9299 День тому +1

      No it’s not… there are always going to be places to explore and escape… you just rely on going to the places that are already well known… the people here in Vietnam deserve to have more traffic and money flowing into their country… your desire to keep places poor and under priced all for your own self gain in having a place to “escape” to is incredibly selfish.
