For a couple of years after the release of this movie, there was a company that really sold them, at a much more reasonable price (I want to say about $75). Tragically, they shut down during the pandemic and haven't reopened. You can occasionally find one on eBay these days, but they're pricey.

Sigourney Weaver was downright giddy to be in the movie. The makers wanted her to be the Director character and did not think she would accept such a small role. They were shocked she accepted but she loved the idea of the movie. She loved being on set and seeing the monsters especially the werewolf. She got a photo of her and the werewolf.

Fun dumb fact: during the scene with them in the lake around 9:44, Marty is wearing a long sleeve shirt because the actor was actually in better shape than both Hemsworth and Grey's Anatomy dude, and the director felt like showing his real physique would do a disservice to the character..

That sounds like goofy trivia tea. Not that that he's not fit and they intentionally obscured that, but how do you quantify "in better shape" when we already know that the two other examples are in excellent shape. They put a shirt on him because he had 2% less body fat? He has a higher bench PR? A faster mile time? Lmao. Such a nonsense way to share that trivia. They just wanted him to look a certain way, so they put a costume on him that involved obscuring his fitness. It's already a funny piece of trivia without the nonsense comparisons.

This movie was filmed before and released after the first Thor movie. It was a lucky break for the movie that Chris Hemsworth became so popular because it helped this movie. Also the whole movie is an allegory for modern horror movies, the ancient ones being the audience, the director being the director of the film and the scientist below standing in for the crew of the movie who set the scenes and action into motion. Also the best part is this movie’s universe could reasonably explain most modern horror movies so it’s a fun lense to see different horror movies through

I'm so glad y'all really got and understood the movie at its foundation, and its humor. A lot of reactors don't see it for being a reveal of horror films, everything that goes on behind the scenes, the dumb decisions, the ultimate reason of WHY it happens and why so often, among other things. Also, a lot of reactors seem to get offended by what's going on, along with offended by what's supposed to be funny. Now, I understand some humor can be offensive - bigotry and hate jokes by comedians. But not this.

What I love about that movie when you think about it, is that it sets up a good enough background for anything else. It gives legitimacy for ALL the others horror movies that EVER took place, and make it plausible that they all happen in the same world. Except for the strict number, you can get one of those "horror ritual" in any country, with any kind of monster, and it explains characters that are led to making bad decisions due to those pheromones, ect ect. That is just SO great of a concept, brilliant idea !! AND it is a good time movie too, I laughed a lot watching it. :D

    • @oh.sorry.dont.mind.meeeee
      @oh.sorry.dont.mind.meeeee 8 днів тому +1

... yeah.. because the film is ABOUT horror movies. "we're not the only ones watching, we have an audience to please". when she takes off her clothes? the archetypes of the sl*t, the jock, the fool, the virgin final girl? The people working in the office are the writers and directors of horror movies, the ancient beings that require the sacrifice are the audiences who demand to see s3x and violence for entertainment!
I mean this in the nicest way possible, how did the entire point of the movie both smack you in the face AND go over your head? 😅
you took the entire thing literally and then extrapolated how it could "explain" every horror movie ever made like you had some insightful thought..... THAT'S LITERALLY THE WHOLE POINT. 😂 it's a movie ABOUT horror movies.
How we take complex human beings and boil them down into silly unrealistic cartoonish versions of themselves and then **punish** them in violent scenarios for entertainment, and how they all follow similar tropes and rules because of the history of the genre.
The women in horror movies are often made to show skin, be sexy, and then get brutally punished for it, it's a morality play. The virgin gets to be the final girl who survives because she's pure, because she hasn't sinned, because she's seen as a morally good character that we want to see survive. But we demand a "sacrifice" of the other characters first so we can have a fun, bloody movie.

    - Marty’s (Fran Kranz) famous thermal mug/bong cost $5,000 to make and it was actually functional as a mug and a bong.
    - During the scene where the main characters jump in the lake, the only person who doesn’t jump in is Marty. This is because Fran Kranz was absolutely ripped in real life. He was in better shape than the other actors, which would’ve been totally out of character. The writers of the film joked that Kranz was like muscular Jesus. Kranz had to wear baggy clothing to help with the illusion that he was lankier.
    - For the scene where Jules (Anna Hutchison) French kisses the wolf’s head on the wall, the dust on the wolfs tongue is actually powdered sugar. The sugar not only gave it a dusty look, it made the scene more tolerable for Hutchison.
    - The script for the movie was written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard in just 3 days. They locked themselves in a hotel room over one weekend and didn’t leave until they finished the script.
    - The failed rituals we see in the other countries are all referencing various horror classics. The Kyoto ritual references the movie Ringu, the Buenos Aires ritual references King Kong, the Stockholm ritual references The Thing, and the Madrid ritual references Dracula.

Kurt is the ‘jock’ but he’s on a full scholarship and is giving Dana academic advice at the beginning. Jules is the ‘wh*re’ but Dana is the one sleeping with her professor. While Jules is in a long term committed relationship. Etc.

Fortunately, they will not arrest him, tow his car, or even give him a ticket. But rather, as if trifled with by jedi, they will forget all about the smell in the car and simply send him on his way with a verbal warning. my favorite thing about this movie is, they tease you with something where most movies be like, "Damnit that would really be cool to see." but nothing happens, instead here it's, then 10 minutes later they give it to you :>movies just have teased the ending and not given you anything.

As someone who is more into sci-fi than horror... I always wonder if every world with sentient life has their own evil gods that they give sacrifices to. And I wonder if spacefaring alien races just come across planets that are just a hellscape of wandering gods and demons and they're just like "Well, they failed a sacrifice at some point." Or a sci-fi where humanity is first exploring the stars and come across a world in that apocalyptic state and have to crash land on the world, and while trying to survive and escape they learn about the fate of the civilization and what led to the rise of the evil gods they're trying to survive and escape from.

React to the film: THE WOLFMAN (director's cut version, 2010), a remake of the Universal classic, much better, brutal and with great practical effects. It's worth checking out.

As I watched the film I become more and more confused... Then when I realized what I was seeing I just laughed.😅 That's when I understood why the comedy label.😅😅
I found a cartoon series on yt that also surprised me, so I would recommend it to anyone like me who likes to be surprised in a movie. It has a uniqur sense of homour and way of seeing things, and for a cartoon it has a surprisingly sensible and scientific approach to the subject matter is covers.
The cartoon series name is Hello Humans! from Wonder Visuals Network. 👽🖖👌

Meta-commentary on horror movies, especially slasher films. It’s pretty ordinary until they take the elevator downstairs under the cabin, then it gets really fun.
I feel like Season 4 of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was the partial inspiration for this storyline.

My first time watching, y'all are a lot of fun! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows they've seen a movie but remembers next to nothing about it.
Bridget, I've been watching the Harley Quinn animated show and your voice sounds a lot like Kaley Cuoco's. It took me a minute to place it.

Probably already said but I'm not scrolling through all the comments but the common horror tropes were deliberately chosen and homage paid to many horror films. I read somewhere that the ancient gods represent unsatisfied horror fans who demand more and more entertainment and get sick of the common tropes or something like that.. Excellent script and film..reactions to this never get old. XO
