- I was very careful not to dive too deeply into other characters here, as I'm saving that for future videos covering the war arc. I think I conveyed it pretty well, but you can liken Bunpuku and Shukaku's dynamic to Naruto and Sasuke's, which of course extends to the main themes of the story. This all ties into the idea of balance. I mentioned this word in my last video, but in the future, I'll be going more in depth on how Kishimoto utilizes the concept of balance for his main themes. Stay tuned for more war arc videos. I should have at least a few more left in the vault.

Likewise Ohnoki's flashback too is highly overlooked, tying to young-old dynamic of him and Gaara from 5 Kage summit simultaneously paralleling the stubborn and arrogant nature of Madara to young Ohnoki.

It is really all about the presentation and script , while the flashback itself is simple and is about the repetitive surface level “understanding will bring love”

@@chelsearogers6720 Ronaldo actually summed it up perfectly here. Naruto's themes are not that deep. HotSpicyBoy's writing and presentation skills are off the chart, thats what makes these videos so engaging

Simply brilliant. I'm just so glad you made a video about this particular flashback which was one of the most emotional ones for me in the entire war arc back when I was reading it weekly. The themes of the entire series expressed in such a laconic way utilizing the very core of how Japanese Kanji are structured is mind-blowing. And finally, I can't overlook the masterful technicality of how Kishi threads the exposition and payoff: "Gaara, you remind me of... Bunpuku."

I can't be happier I found someone who's made a video about this scene. It's the scene that resonated with me the most throughout the entirety of the series, making me weep like a toddler. Hat's off to you!
This video brings me to the way Naruto uses the Kanji for Soul/Heart 心 as Love 愛 has it in between the symbols used for Receive 受, and is also combined with the Kanji Blade 刃, combined to become the Kanji for 忍 (Heart Under Blade for Monogatari fans) as the crux for Ninja being used as Tools and is also the symbol for Endure.

Nah but for real there's still much more depth to this story that I'm always excited to see another view looking into it even the quickies like this make think about how much I missed when reading/watching the show.

Great video as always for the shortness of this video it still managed to say so much. The way you write your analysis is very interesting to me it kind of reminds of poetry. This videos topic of choice is also interesting I’ve never seen anyone else talk about this small scene even myself had never thought much of it but you strived a lot of depth from it. There are too many good flashbacks that people will overlook tbh, to a certain extent they're so overlooked people will just forget the overall themes of the anime sometimes xD

Y'know, in this scene, Shukaku says that Bunpuku reminds him of Hagoromo. And, a few moments later, he thinks about how Gaara reminds him of Bunpuku. Three of a kind.
Also, Shukaku said he can't imagine any others being like Bunpuku, but he himself acknowledges that Hagoromo was also like that.

I think in the context that HBS used it, it means mild or mediocre maybe even ineffective

Benign has two definitions. One meaning what you said, another is a medical term for something insignificant
