White rotary machines are vastly underrated for their superior stitch quality, the quietness with with they work and the superior mechanics of the rotary hook. Beautiful machine! I love all of your videos.
true true true ..except they have a little growl and not so quiet to me. but that makes them endearing as I think they have the torque and just waiting to use it ;-)
I have a Singer 15,201 and 221. I like all of them, but prefer the White Rotary. I have a treadle made in 1917. I'm sewing a quilt with it today. The White Rotary seems to sew smoother than the Singer treadles I have.
I was given one just like this. Beautiful cabinet and machine in perfect condition. Gonna start cleaning it soon. Just can’t find out what year it was made. This has been stored in a friends attic for years and hasn’t been used. Only thing missing is book😂
ooh la la .. wonderful beautiful machine and the vid and photography is amazing .. You had me in suspense ;-) Thank so much for sharing. BTW the finish on your machine is gorgeous and smooth ..all the White rotaries I have seen are not like that rougher and not shiny and do not clean up and shine as well as the old singers. Mine has perfect decals ( same as your pattern) but not a thick layer of smooth shellac ..Did you re french polish yours ? Thanks again
Just bought one of these babies. What a cute cabinet. The entire piece is beyond dirty but no rust. I will need to locate a foot and work hard to clean it without destroying is great gorgeous paint but am unsure of what to use. Can you give me any advice?
This is a new to me machine. The one I have is portable and has a domed lid. But it also has the electrical plug as shown with this cabinet model and no other wiring or controller. Would love to get ideas on how to make it functional again.
Judy, I would recommend joining one of the many helpful groups on face book, such as Vintage Sewing Machines for Beginners. Lots of great people willing to assist you to get your machine stitching once again. Best of luck!
Omg. Thank you fir sharing this. My sister just picked this up at a thrift store for $25 for me. It’s the same thing. Except yours is much more ornate and in better condition. Mine is really dirty but still in great shape. The wires on mine are all frayed and breaking apart. Do you have videos on how to repair this machine? I would love to get it working. Thanks again.
I have the same sewing but I can’t figure out if mine works or not. Does it come with a peddle or does it just automatically start when you plug it in.
There is a controller underneath the table top that is controlled by pushing with your knee. It works similar to a foot control, but just higher and for the knee.
Beautiful machine! Thank you for sharing. I've been curious about the White Rotaries but have never tried one. How do you think it compares to a Singer class 15/201/221 in terms of noise and smoothness of operation? The last thing I need is another machine but I'm intrigued with this one.
I have one of these and just got it tuned up. However, I am not sure how the thread moves through the machine to the needle. Could you post a video on how to actually put the thread through the machine?
+Annelise Rhoda I no longer have this particular machine, but if you search online you should find a manual for the White Family Rotary machine. You can also ask for assistance on the Vintage Sewing Machine group on facebook. Best of luck!
Hi - Neat old machine! I have the same Martha Washington Table, but it has been retrofitted for an old Singer Machine. Unfortunately, when I took the table in to be restored, the restorer lost most of the lift mechanism parts that attach to the inside of the cabinet. Could you post or share how the lift mechanism works or possibly send pictures of the parts? Thanks!
My apologies chigl68, I cannot provide any more photos or details as I no longer have this machine and cabinet. The good news is that these MW cabinets are not rare. There are various online groups with people that collect old machines that could possibly provide the details you are looking for. Best of luck!
Hi. I got my hands one of these (last patent June 1913. Figured out how to thread it, but can't thread the bobbin underneath the needle :(. Can you you help me??
s s-r do you still have your attachments and booklet, for this machine? I would like them if no one got them. Thank you. I just got a machine similar to this one but didn’t get a book on how to use it, or attachments.
I was just given one of these machines, and I'd really like to restore the cabinet. As of now the sewing machine simply sits on top as the tray inside does not lift up when the top is raised. Any ideas where I might be able to get a diagram or good pictures of the internal cabinet workings?
I have a cabinet that works well, but the machine is probably only good for parts. The sewing machine lifts up quite nicely when I open the top. It is just sitting in my garage.
I no longer have this machine and cabinet. Some of these lift mechanisms can be tricky. I recommend checking out some of the various face book groups dedicated to old sewing machines. Lots of helpful people there. Best of luck!
Hi. I was just recently gifted a machine just like this one. I need the power cords to it and was wondering if you could direct me to a good source for getting the parts I need
i have a very similar machine the only visual difference is mine does not have a ruler painted on the cabinet. Can you tell me what motor i need to look for? my wiring needs replacing. Any help would be appreciated. there is not a lot of information on this machine.
Hi airedale360, I would recommend checking auction sites and other sales groups/pages for a White motor for sale. The handwheel turns away from the user (unlike Singer) and uses a friction drive, so you would need one that turns in the correct direction. The facebook group, Vintage Sewing Machines, is a good resource for assistance in getting your machine back up and stitching. Best of luck!
Сегодня купила раритетную машинку класса 15-201 марки стандарт из за столика и сама машинка завораживает красотой но как всегда нехватает на ней мелких деталей , думала может у вас видео есть на такую машинку , хотела посмотреть не нашла
I have this exact machine I just got from my aunt. I was my great grandmothers. I am having trouble opening it. It feels like it is locked or something. Any suggestions?
Dave, sometimes the articulated hinges are damaged or rusted and can make it difficult to open. Might be best to lay the machine down on a blanket on its side and take a look underneath to see what is causing trouble. Good luck!
We just looked at my grandmother's. There was a tiny screw in the backside of the cabinet that must have been there for locking. We were able to use the original small screwdriver in the drawer to unscrew it, then it opened fine.
Hi airedale360. If you watch the video at minute 2:23 you will see the rear mounted motor that powers the machine and at 2:45 you can see the bar mounted under the table that serves as the controller to adjust the speed of the motor.
I have the same sewing but I can’t figure out if mine works or not. Does it come with a peddle or does it just automatically start when you plug it in.
My machine has a controller attached under the table that has an arm that is pressed with the knee to control the machine. It does not automatically start when plugged in. You could also rig a foot controller to use for the machine.

My brother gave me one that was given to his son in law by a client. It is in good working condition along with the cabinet. I love it!
Thank you for making this video my son wanted to know how the sewing machine worked in the museum, and we were able to sit down and watch your video!
Glad I could help!
Another beautiful machine, love the decals, and the sound. Thanks for sharing.
My wife was left one from my mom, 1908 model like this one...it still works perfectly. Five generations
That cabinet is fabulous! I have a White FR circa 1922, and I need a treadle cabinet to put her in.

I got one today.
Free.
Needs fixing.
Can't wait to get it working. It won't be pretty like this one though.
She's in immaculate condition for her age. White made great machines. Such a nice stitch, too.

I have this same model. Have you been able to find the year for it?
@elaineheilman5122 I haven't been not been able to find out the year. Between 1921 and 25 is the best I could come up with
That's an awesome table.

Hi! No french polish. She came to me in good shape and just a good clean and looked great!

I need help on restoring the same machine, too
Beautiful machine and cabinet!! I would love to find one!
I have the same one in the same cabinet. Looking to sell. Are you interested?
I think your best bet is out of the way thrift stores. That is where my sister found mine fir $25. Good luck

thank you for the info. I also realized the reason I can't is because I have no bobbin casing>.< Need to find that :)

I just got one that looks the same. What is the value of one of these?
What someone will pay for it.
I have a white sewing machine from 1891
Do you know the model of this by chance? Is it a 41,43, or 77? Thanks, Em
Hi Em, this machine is not any of those models (they were later than this one). It is just a White Rotary or Family Rotary machine model.
Thank you so much!
Mine says FR314108
White Family Rotary
Cleveland OH
75 cycles
Fabulous!! Gorgeous!!
Hi, what motor are using on it?
I no longer have this machine, but it had the motor that came with it, a standard White friction drive motor.
