Awesome, we just bought a 1930s Kenmore e6354 which looks exactly like yours. You're threading up the upper and lower bobbin was perfectly executed! We were struggling with that but now we're sewing away. Thank you for the great instruction!

Kind Sir, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and giving clear instructions. I just got this one and the friction rubber is dented like you described from storage. I am ordering one today. I was threading it wrong and didn’t have the bobbin thread caught properly. So, you have helped me immensely. Keep up the good work, please. 😊

I just got one of these machines yesterday and yes, it does have the manual. I am thankful to of found you for you really explain things so nicely and clearly! I am excited to get started making something and your video will help me be more relaxed at getting a go at my first project. I haven't sewn in decades. Wow, that is genius using the masking tape to get the light bulb in. I am writing that down in my notebook of helpful hints. Thank you.

Thank you so much for this straightforward video! My father bought me an E-6354 when I was in high school and it sat in his barn for 30 years. I just got it out of the barn last year and fell in love with it but it's so foreign to the computerized machines I've sewn on for the last 20 years. Your video is a god-send!!!!

I have an 117.812, 1948. I've had it over a year. It is my favorite machine to do my quilt piecing on (I have other machines too). It has small feed dog directly in front of the needle in addition to a strong feed dog profile. It pulls material through straight and true. It makes the most perfect stitches. As it is a straight stitch, no extra space for fabric to get sucked into. Fabric following the outer edge of the foot gives a perfect scant 1/4". I have a machined stitch guide and a cool machined stiletto (don't make stuff like that anymore). This machine will be going long after I'm gone. A true work horse. It does one thing and one thing well...perfect straight stitches.

I have a 117-813! I just got it yesterday, it belonged to my great great aunt. My papa gave it to me bc he doesn’t sew and I have an interest in antique things. I wasn’t sure what year my machine was from so from your comment I’m guessing around that time frame. I didn’t get an introduction manual or anything like that hence why I’m watching this video lol.

I have this same model number (117.812) that I recently acquired from a flea market! This video is so super helpful and has set me up to hem a dress of the lady that sold it to me... she came down on the price in exchange for me to do some alterations for her, and her dress will be the first project on this machine for me!

You don't know which I thank you for this video, I really don't dedicate myself to the repair of sewing machines. I am a systems engineer and they asked me to check one which was entangling the thread and in addition to giving it its general service, with its video I was able to thread the sewing machine well and thus I learned a little more.
I thank you again and I send you greetings from Mexico City

I threaded everything just as you said. Double and triple checked. The machine is going and the thread is feeding but it is not making a stitch. What am I doing wrong? I also noticed that the thread keeps falling out of the needle. Any suggestions?

We’re you able to catch the bobbin thread and pull it up?
Your hook my have slipped and be out of time. (A timing problem)
Pull out plenty of upper thread through the needle and hang on to it when manually
Turning hand wheel to pull up thread. Is needle threaded the right direction?

Make sure that your needle is inserted and seated correctly. The flat part should be to your right and threading from left to right.

It's too bad some folks make these instructional videos and never check the comments for questions....I have a 117.720 and I would like to know the difference between the other model numbers in the 117 type...but mostly I need to find out the right size of needle to use and so far I can't find any info about the length of the needle....you can go to www.manualslib.com/ and type in your model number and get the manual for it for free...unfortunately none of the manual websites I know of have the manual for a 117.720.

Rotary machines which need a special needle will have a picture decal on the bed of the needle.
Kenmore Rotary machines take a standard needle. Just make sure they are inserted correctly.
I stopped checking comments long ago since I never got any feedback that anyone was reading my answers.
