Hi guys! I have a suggestion for the audio-only episodes: during the book haul and reviews sections, could you keep pictures of the books you are discussing on the screen until you switch book / subject? Sometimes my ADHD brain loses track and I have to go back to see what you are talking about 😅

I will say I listened to Books Unbound both times I was in labor. Nov. 2020 & 2023. So that's pretty reliable. When my 3yo was still a baby, he was soothed by your voices since he had been listening since h3 was in the belly.

Omg it's so cool that you mentioned Terry Fox! His legacy has spread globally! I am portuguese and I work in cancer research. There is an association in Portugal that does an event every year to raise money for cancer research in honor of Terry Fox. My lab actually won a Terry Fox grant one year, and that allowed me to remain in the field and pursue a PhD which I am now finishing!

I remember watching a movie about Terry Fox on cable when I was a kid in the 80’s and that was in Kentucky. I hadn’t thought about that in years!

It could also be really fun to add a special discussion about the book between you two at the end of the audiobook, like how sometimes we get an interview with the author

Hey guys, thanks for another delightful episode as always! I just wanted to say thank you to Raeleen for the inspiration of using books for props. My monstrous plant fell down during the night off of its precarious prop after a whole fiasco with a bat in our house the evening before which disturbed my extremely large monstera that’s taking over the dining room. (Side note about the bat: I can relate with Ariel and all the critters in an old house. It’s quite alarming and disturbing and can cause one to need therapy!) The plant is fine, but I clearly needed a more stable system and I now have the branch resting on a beautiful stack of books. Thanks to you, I now have a happy and sturdy art installation situation in my dining room!!

The first twenty minutes of this video are decidedly humorous, some brilliant storytelling. In terms of Helen Hamff - Sarah of Hardcover Hearts hosts a read-along of 84 Charing Cross Road on New Year's Day every year; a few months away, but might be something to keep in mind if you want to avoid it becoming a mashed potato book.
When I think of A Dance with Dragons, all I remember is ugh. 1,000+ pages where the characters end things in the same positions as they were in at the beginning of the book.
Either way, fantastic pod as always.

the Series of Unfortunate Events book with the leeches is book 3, The Wide Window! Those parts of the book absolutely creeped me out when I was first reading them
also, I randomly thought of American Psycho when Raeleen was talking about the other book she got, and I can't believe I actually guessed it! I recently read 84 Charing Cross Road and I loved it, so I'm glad Raeleen now has it too.

I cannot wait to hear the rest Raeleen's experience with Valley of the Dolls.
There could be a whole rating "things at the end of the book," since there can also be an interview with the author at the end or book club questions or acknowledgements, or a sample chapter from the next book coming out from the author and who knows what else. Personally, I don't want any of that and would prefer they just leave it out.

In regards to the thinking, you have a good chunk of the book left, but it in fact is a separate story this happened when I was reading a YA by Kelley Armstrong - The Summoning, and that book ended in a major cliffhanger so imagine you are reading this book something major is about to happen you flip the page only to realize the rest of the pages are BLANK end papers. 20 blank endpapers (ok, maybe more like 10, but it was a lot). Readers were so upset she was apologizing at signings and did not do that again lol. I think she said it was her publisher's idea.

Loved the ASOIAF part. I felt the same with all the goods, slowly getting less interesting. Loved the review that Ariel read out.
Did Brandon Sanderson mention if he would want to finish the series? I thought he would be the one to do it, since he has experience.

I read A Game of Thrones for the first time last month, and it is simultaneously the best thing that has ever happened to me, and also my biggest regret 😅 I told myself for years that I would never read the series unless it was finished because I didn't want to be one of the legion of upset fans, and yet I caved. And now I wait. Part of me wants to read the next four books all in a row, and part of me wants to try and spread the experience out across the next decade on the off chance the Winds of Winter is released...

I read Everything Everything years ago when it came out and yeah I liked it, super easy to read, fast plot, I was there for it. I told my husband about it and he was like "Oh, like the movie Bubble Boy? That sounds like a complete rip-off of Bubble Boy." So it's very interesting that this book also seems like a rip-off...

Leeches bring back childhood memories.🪱Growing up in a rural area, far from a lake or public swimming pool, we had to make do with the local pond. You were lucky if you made it out of there with no leeches attached to your body. Good times.🤣
