With the release of R20, ZOOM changed the user workflow and trajectory of the R-Series models with the addition of the LCD touchscreen. The company made a strong statement in innovation and ease of use with the R20, and continues to do so with the newer R12 unit. I’m excited to see what the competition is going to throw at R12. Whatever that may be, it better be super innovative.
Thanks for getting a newbie up to speed in a clear concise way. After 25 years of performing, my first try at home recording seems easier after watching you. Everyone getting R12 should view this before diving into the manual.
Seems a better release than the R20, with battery power and more sensible inputs. Still wishing that Zoom had added Midi out to control external synth from the Midi track. The internal instruments are a novelty, but not really a serious instrument (although again, this makes more sense on the R12, which is geared towards home studio/singer songwriter use).
Glad they brought this out but the R20 should have been battery powered. Still hoping for full midi implementation. They really have a chance at providing a true graphical daw outside the box which will be a massive game changer. It’s possible they are purposely not making these smaller units full featured cbecause they plan to bring out a large 24+ track version with all of the features forcing a higher price.
Ive purchased 3 pcs so far that where not efficient enough for making music, its been such a frustrating journey, being told it would be enough, but then flopping with the use of vsts.. I may try going straight to multitrack recorder. 🙏🏽
i don't understand why the R12 and R20 were changed to only allow looping in playback by copying and pasting further measures, thereby repeating your recorded measures in the 1st region. i don't want to create a timeline for a whole song until i mix down. why did Zoom get rid of the R8 ability to loop measures continuously in playback?
I am close to make decision to buy it but I don't know where or why there is no Sound demo because FX are something it's important to me especially Reverb. How it sounds and how long Decay can last ?
For more information on that topic, watch my presentation "ZOOM R20 Multi Track Recorder: 5 Things You Should Know", on this channel. Thanks for watching.
you can simply copy and paste one fader onto another fader and have them mixed and played in unison but cannot "bounce" multiple tracks/takes to one single fader and play simultaneously, it Will just copy over the clip, hopefully I explained it clear for you. if you get creative you can bounce by exporting the project (muting the tracks you don't want to combine) onto the sd then reopening the project and adding the clip onto the fader ect
Greetings, am currently using a tascam dp-008ex, which only export in wav, can the zoom r12 export in mp3, does it give better sound would it be an upgrade from the tascam dp-008ex
Zoom...... "Stay in your lane." You have "The game" backwards. Most musicians want the LapDaw and mini-corder separate ! We just wany to download our tracks to a portable device so we can Jam or Gig on the fly. Don't challenge the big Daw, you'll lose. A simple R8 is all we need. (Mobility)
What's the purpose of having only an FX send? If you want to use a pedal or pedal chain, you also need an FX (possibly stereo) RETURN!! I've also seen this FLAW on TOO MANY mixers.

The Zoom R20 is battery powered (2 AA batteries). Thanks so much for watching and sharing. 👍🏿
@@PowercoatMusic I think you mean the R12. I was talking about the bigger R20, it’s power cable only.

Hi... Does it remember the track levels for each track when changing songs ?
That data should be saved with the song's project file group. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
Thank you

2 Questions can I do punch in recording for a vocal track and will this interface work to a Samsung note 20 phone?
Do we know if the control surface function will work with samplitude or old versions of ableton (i have live 5). Thanks
This link will tell you what software the unit is compatible with: zoomcorp.com/media/documents/MTR_DAWcompatibility_2023JAN_E.pdf
Can I use r12 for records for home karaoke?
I don't see any reason why not. Thanks for watching.
no punch in and punch out like the R 20 model ? its so stupid that the R 20 does not have the option to punch in punch out option like any recorder
Punch in function?
Looks like that's done manually, old school. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿

This thing is terrible, can’t even put my music on Cd from this thing. What happened to the days multi track recorders had the cd burners on them

How do you download to another medium and what’s the best one to use, to simply be able to play your music in the car ??????????
@@charleswind8298 does it have Bluetooth? Then you can play it thru ur cars Bluetooth
Correct. If I'm going to burn CDs I'll just use my computer.
