This man casually flashes furry inflation art across my screen when talking about the very serious topic of delta p. I really hope it's not a self insert
Don't be throwing rocks at me from your glass closet, you identified the artwork. ;) That's literally the first image in the second row that comes up on a Google image search for Delta P.
While trying to confirm if this was true which it was, I typo delta p as detla 1 then delta q. Which both of those keys were on the complete wrong side of the keyboard.
"This is braille, and it says You're Fucked!"... And, that was fuckin' funny! (For those who don't know, I'm mostly blind and use braille all the time)
Carriage bolts because those were the only ones that fitted, and of course nobody ever put a nice coat of grease on the threads ever. Time to break out the sparkly wrench and get those studs nice nad red hot first, then allow to cool a little before giving them a bath in automatic transmission fluid, then take another nut and weld to the stud, and try to undo them. That has a good chance of getting half of them out, the rest will fight you all the way. New bolts, nicely greased, and a nice grease coat on the lip and the side of the panel, will mean the next guy will get it open. BTW, that 1/4 NPT nipple is there to allow you to see if the level under the portal is low enough to open, without flooding the turbine room.
This seriously had me ROTFLMAO!!! 🤣🤣 I just recently came across your channel and I've been loving your videos. My dad is an engineer at John Day Dam so I'm kind of partial to your content. Thanks for the laughs!! 😄❤

2:09 your insert there is relieve preasure negative or positive before opening, thanks to the natural or the pit. We had quite a few pit caps that contained one at the water treatment plant. Anything bolted in with a open line can bring or remove air.
That poor biologist. So, you came up the tail race, through the draft tube, then the turbine runner, and then the wicket gates. You funny man! 😂 I enjoy your videos.
I enjoyed the banter, I really did. Totally reminded me of trying to figure things out with a bunch of buddies and knowing not 1 thing is gonna go right. It always starts out with "WTF? Who did this? What the hell were they thinking? Awww shit.......you broke it? Ok...ok...start plan B" And you finally get it done after plan z.
2:03 Between your incredible enthusiasm & knowledge, I feel like I'm watching some amazing educational show, until that reminds me that these videos are very real LOL
Well, squares are harder to round off than hexes, and the thinking was probably to put a regular wrench on the square part of the carriage bolt after loosening the jam nut.
I was behind a recycling can once when a polite normal well mannered Swede pulls up and starts tossing in their garbage , OUCH , OUCH, OHH , OUCH! But this video beats that.
I bet that pipe plug in the hatch is a vent for any trapped air in the chamber when it goes from being blocked with stop logs to back flowing it could have air trapped in the back of the chamber limiting the flow
Regarding "The Crab" I couldn't understand why there was such a pressure differential between outside the pipe and inside the pipe while it was being cut.
"it's not gonna break, it's gonna be ok. It's not gonna break, it's gonna be ok. Its not gonna break, its gonna be ok. Oh ya broke it" 😂 daggum it man, I'm a utility spray-paint monkey, and your videos really make me consider changing profession 😂
You're so sinister... BTW - the plug-hole I believe is a pre-open test hole, to look for water pressure before you open the top. The bolts-with-jamb nuts - release the jamb, and the bolt should come out. The type of bolt gives you leverage under the head with a wrench, after the jamb nut is released. I see this is an old video, but youtube thinks it needs to surface cuz you're reaching "cool" status, and people need to see your stuff. Thanks for sharing...reply so I know you saw the comment...
@@Physicsduck I need ALL your books - wife's a big reader, and she needs to experience your unique style...do you have either Amazon links for all, or a web site non-Amazon on which I can buy them? I share the stuff on Relays, Caps, wiring, etc. cuz it's great and our folks need to know.
awwwwwwwwwwwww sure, here you go :) amzn.to/3WexGfA and amzn.to/3SiRr4g would be the ones to start with. :) and THANK YOU! Please give her and the crew my kindest regards. :)
This was my first thought. The carriage bolts weren’t tightened, they were just screwed in by hand and then deez nuts were tightened down on top to apply tension.
6:36 god.... that reminds me of banging out the "barrel" between two tractor tires.... . tires are full of calcium chloride.... so EVERYTHING is just a pile of rust
I really like the ntsb summary. I read them sometimes about marine fuckup and they start with, this ship was built way to long ago to still be around. It gets traded to some small shitty company, the list of shit wrong with it is longer than the list of mental problems me and my friends are suffering from and then it sinks
No, Nickel Anti-sieze was the friend of the millwright aprentice who installed the bolts, jamb nut, and washer on that setup. So much of a friend he didn't part with any of it. That's why they pulled the threads out with the one bolt. 😞
@@Physicsducksorry didn't see it. I just remembered a video about a few sailors who died entering a anchor locker and died of a lack of oxygen. So I panicked and commented. sorry!

When I see that many bolts on a hatch, I think "enclosed space."
Meaning possible low oxygen environment, DANGER.
Glad that wasn't the case here.
That crab had the same fate as the Ripley crossbreed alien when it got sucked out the portal window into Space.😢
Chemical Saftey Board Videos are professionally animated and stellar as far as accident breakdowns go..definitely Seconds From Disaster quality..

I would have used some PB Blaster on these, let it penetrate for a while, then, try turning them off. These were not grade 8 hardened bolts.
