Crows fans love to bring this day up, but let's be honest - where were the crows when Port were playing in this grand final? That's right, nowhere to be seen.
@M AFL is the most beautiful and underrated sport in the history of the universe. Soccer was forced into invaded tribes and nations across the world by European superpowers when they colonised and invaded every corner of the globe. AFL is the true beautiful game as it more entertaining to watch, plus you will not get bashed or killed supporting an opposition AFL team unlike soccer. Soccer is overrated and the global mainstream media has not seen the likes of a proper sport because they haven’t seen AFL. Pele has never watched an AFL game because it is the true beautiful game and is unlike soccer, a real sport for talented individuals of all races and all demographics. Take your misinformation somewhere else before I report it for spam and misinformation 🏉
Credit where credit is due, as a port supporter this is tough to watch but I can't help but admire the Geelong team on that day. They made the 2nd best team all year look like witches hats let alone on grand final day. That performance is what every team wants to replicate
You could have created a super team from every other team bar Geelong to take them on in this grand final and they still wouldn't have won. Geelong were freaks around this time, just total domination.
Ben pathetic bahaha 😂 sounds like you’re a Richmond choke supporter burned your membership like most of you do got gifted the flag by Adelaide still remember the time we smashed you by 157 points 😍
I think 07 Geelong has to be the best AFL team ever fielded. 9 all Australians, the Brownlow medalist, rising star, at least 2 players who are arguably the GOAT at their position (Ablet and Scarlet) and one of the best ruck combos ever.
I could watch a retrospective of Geelong team goals between 2007 and 2011 and never tire of it. Preferably with Dave Brubeck as the background sound, and nothing else.
This was the first grand final I watched with my grandma after getting out of the witness protection programme. I was 9 years old and afterwards we played a game guessing what the headline of the herald sun would be the next day. She guessed "Power's power turned off". This video brought back a lot of happy memories and I'm thankful for the time I got to spend with her.
@@cutupaquarterjugofwater4708 HAha THat joke is a classic. ty ty, ended up having to back into it the year after until I was 18, but was thankfully able to keep seeing my Nanna :D
It's great to see the coaching staff congratulating each other, knowing the 44 year wait is about to finish, and the Geelong players' reaction when the siren blows. I'm an Adelaide supporter but I have a lot of admiration for what Geelong has done in the last seven years. That era is over, but the Cats set an example for the whole league.
Tigers fan but this was a great game. That Geelong side was great to watch and it’s always nice to see an arrogant pack of pretenders (as Port seems to be every year) get flogged.

I wish we never made that grand final. Geelong were so much better than every other team and would have beaten anyone by 100+ that day. Our team really over performed i never expected to make the GF and this is why
I often drag out my DVD of this game for its enjoyment value. I've listened to all of the commentaries, even the rabidly-Cats K-Rock, but I think the 5AA (Adelaide) commentary is the best as the scale of the Mighty Cats' victory slowly hits home. But I think the Blu-Ray copy of the 2022 victory will be the better viewing experience. Go Catters!
I'm living in Germany. Had a finals tipping comp with the fellas back home. Got to talking about the 2004 grandy between power and lions and watched some clips. Guess algorithms had this on my home page. I was watching it with the sound muted and a friends spotify playlist playing through bluetooth speaker. It's 11:30pm. It was a public holiday here yesterday for the reunification of the country in 1990. Fall of the Berlin wall and what not. Geez, I forgot Nathan Ablett was a premiership player. A lot can happen in 12 years. I won the tipping competition. Had to tell you about it.
@MUFC I doubt it mate. Soccer will always be the least watched sport in Australia. AFL is far more exciting for fans to just give up for a game where barely anything happens. And then you have states that love rugby and most people who love rugby (let me assure you) they absolutely can’t stand soccer for the fact that the players milk the softest tackles made on them. Hell, Australians would prefer cricket to soccer!
Geelong Premiers in 07, 09 & 11. probably should have won 08 also. 3 flags in 5 years. I remember just watching this club become so consistent and always kicking really high scores which is good to watch as a football spectator. What an era!
What goes so wrong when a team who’s second on the ladder loses to a team 1st on the ladder by 20 goals I just don’t understand and port Adelaide had grand final experience too.
September 29 2007 Q1 Geelong 5 7 37 Port Adelaide 2 2 14 Q2 Geelong 11 13 79 Port Adelaide 4 3 27 Q3 Geelong 18 17 125 Port Adelaide 5 5 35 Q4 Geelong 24 19 163 Port Adelaide 6 8 44 Geelong won by 119 points As the cats finally destroyed the 44 year drought and they were premiers for 2007 For Port Adelaide the loss was devastating
The difference is Geelond broke a 44 year drought and played some of the best football the game had even seen. The Tigers had won 2 years ago, were arrogant, the second most hated fan base after collingwood and GWS played like dogshit.
@@lukevacca1537 Port also played like dogshit mate. The difference between the two thrashings being that Port were arrogant as fuck and received a (deserved) belting that nobody saw coming, whereas GWS fluked their way into the Grand Final after winning 2 games in a row by under a goal and then finally receiving a flogging that many footy fans could see coming from a million miles away. Both performances were spineless as fuck though
I didn't realise teams averaging 14-15 goals in the 05-06 era of flooding was low scoring. If that's the case then let's put 36 players down back and kick 100 points.
Having supported the Cats since 1975 and having witnessed all the heartbreak leading up to this game I wasn’t going to miss it. Left London on Thursday night and arrived Tullamarine Saturday morning. Straight to a pub in Richmond for a few heart starters then to the G for this game. Only started to believe we had it won half way through the 3rd quarter. After the game got as drunk as a thousand men, stayed out until 5 am and then straight out to the airport for a flight back to London arriving 5 am Monday morning and at my desk by 10.00 am . Those 24 hours in Melbourne easily the best of my life.
Different people have said to me that the 2007 GF was a poor game to watch. I've been a Cats supporter for about 75 years. I have watched this game many times and I think it's a great game to watch. 😎😎
Great win by Geelong Cats we showed Port Adelaide why we play the grand Final great this was the first Grand Final that Geelong cats Play lets go Geelong cats I was there singing the Geelong Cats theme song after the win lets go the cats
I remember before this game, they did a little skit of a Port player looking at himself in the mirror pretending to hold the premiership medal around his neck. Pretty sure it was one of the Burgoyne’s. Lol, that would’ve been awkward after this game.
Just watching the first 10 minutes of this is crazy, the cats are literally playing like the Harlem globetrotters. I believe this is the best group to ever play this sport together
And Brenton Sanderson became a head coach too. There are lots of assistant coaches who become head coaches under successful teams. I.e. all the head coaches from the Clarkson tree
this was a grand final that everyone was excited for but turned out to be a very disappointing grand final. port Adelaide wasn't ready to play that game and i felt like they didn't train hard enough. geelong was the best team that year and was very unbeatable. port did defeat cats that year at Simons but yeah they choked at the grand final. i felt like there wasn't enough port supports on that game. there were so many geelong supporters that made it tricky for port to ignore the roaring cats supporters. in the future i think some team will beat the 119 point margin
Funny how all these comments are bagging Port when Geelong beat all the other teams in 2008 Claiming their teams would have done better. That’s pure speculation. The other teams were not good enough to make the Grand final. The non Geelong supporters have selective memories and conveniently forgot about Geelong’s domination of everyone in the 2008 season.
You mean this year? How so? We came second.. and beat every top 8 team except for gws in round 2 and then Sydney, obviously didn't have a perfect year but from 10th to 2nd I'm happy with that haha
@@codeword0203 im saying it from a cat's supporter's perspective. Most of geelong's team hadn't played in a grand final before, but port played in one 3 years before, do it makes geelongs win all the more great
Funny story, I once posted the number 119 in the Port Adelaide Bigfooty forum and got an instant ban. Sore losers, Geelong should have beaten them by 200 and then the AFL should have folded Port est 1997.
119 says it all, it almost wiped out the club entirely as they declined hard from 2nd to 13 in 2008, first team to lose to the Suns (2011 Port is one of my worst AFL teams in my lifetime not counting the expansion teams) and had off field issues, although their off field finances are going well today but never made it back in the GF since (lost PF in 2014, 2020 and 2021) while the Cats won 2009, 2011 and 2022. Watch EggFootys video called the story of the 2007 AFL Grand final. Manily fouced on Ports POV
Don't get me wrong, I love Geelong, but that free kick awarded to Nathan Ablett was bullshit. The Port defender just knocked him down with sheer body-force and didn't use his hands in doing so. Perhaps in a round game 11:20 would be a free kick, but you can't go giving out willy-nilly penalties in a grand final (NEXT TO THE FUCKING GOAL SQUARE), especially when Ablett didn't even attempt to push off and the defender was, without a doubt, playing the ball - RESPECT THE BALL! These guys were good though: I was in Munich for the 2011 Grand Final - Geelong vs. Collingwood, sipping from a stein in an Australian pub, waiting for Malthouse to G-up and rage quit.
wtf ken hinkley was part of geelong when they beat port so hard they didn't play finals for 5 years later, which was when ken hinkley became the power coach.
Clever man. The plan was always for him to not let Port win a flag. He is a Geelong double agent man. They seem to be on to him now but it is already too late.
Yeah, they were both pretty bad. I guess it would have to be 2007 because of the margin, but on the other hand 2019 had an opponent that was just a mismatch, whilst 2007 were against 1st and 2nd. It’s actually tough to say.
easily 2019 ,lower scoring, flat out boring. you can't really point anything out in that game and the things they did was lame. "ooh a spin from" idk whats his nam, lame. that marlin goal, lame. literally only remember those because when it was live i thought to myself "that was lame as hell what do you mean?" to the spin and I re watched the highlights for about 2 minutes before giving up because it was that lame. 2007 geelong kept the ball going and it made it fun to watch, not to mention the high scores, and there aren't any highlights to the game either, but they had moments that made me really wow because i generally can't believe they moved it from one side of the ground to the other so fast and so easily. I also love watching port lose as much as I love the 2004 grand final. I have a soft spot for the giants and at the time i despised the tigers, I don't as much anymore, so watching them win sucked. you can say both games are lame and bad but 2019 will always be the worse of the two by a mile.
Port nearly had the Cats there when they led 2-1 in the first quarter
It was game of from the first bounce.

HAHAHAHAHA!
Cats just smashed port Adelaide there useless
MUFC Still don’t give a s**t about soccer and I was born in England.
I'm a Carlton man but I don't believe there is a team in the previous 5 years or 5 years after that could have beaten Geelong on that day.

Geelong's play-on style of 2007 was great the watch after years of boring, low scoring flooding

The other teams were not good enough to make the Grand final. The non Geelong supporters have selective memories and conveniently forgot about Geelong’s domination of everyone in the 2008 season.
Gee Wiz,I thought Port put in a shocking performance, then I watched this and got to see the video editor took poor to a whole new level.
Need this soon guys...

+gameguru1234 no where near as bad as last years
Same

2019 too
You have to feel for port heh?
This is why Kane Cornes hates Geelong players
Doubt it. Port smashed Geelong in the finals a few years before that and won a flag that year doubt he cares
@@mharro88 smashing them in a final doesent come close to a record being held against them in a gf

Kane should stick to fire fighting the tosser
@@adamperre4852 played 300 games won a premiership medal , multiple best and fairests and multiple all Australians? Want to rethink that?
good to finally see geelong in a rebuild period again.
Was a quick rebuild wasn't it:)
InFa Grfn you won't win a flag anyway.. unless you rebuild properly. Massively overrated last yr
You mean this year? How so? We came second.. and beat every top 8 team except for gws in round 2 and then Sydney, obviously didn't have a perfect year but from 10th to 2nd I'm happy with that haha
@@Grfnn yep still haven't won one .. 5 prelim losses in a row
Mick Harrison up the lions
cant think of another team that was this intimidated in a GF. just lost chickens.
Whats funny is that pa had more experience in a grand final than geelong

@@codeword0203 im saying it from a cat's supporter's perspective. Most of geelong's team hadn't played in a grand final before, but port played in one 3 years before, do it makes geelongs win all the more great
@@xavh3476 oooohhhh I forgot about 2004
@@xavh3476 Half of Port's squad in that 2007 Grand Final didn't play in that 2004 Grand Final, or have too much experience.
Funny story, I once posted the number 119 in the Port Adelaide Bigfooty forum and got an instant ban. Sore losers, Geelong should have beaten them by 200 and then the AFL should have folded Port est 1997.
My cat sat purring on my lap while I watched the highlights.
Geelong's game plan on the day totally unravelled Port
119 says it all, it almost wiped out the club entirely as they declined hard from 2nd to 13 in 2008, first team to lose to the Suns (2011 Port is one of my worst AFL teams in my lifetime not counting the expansion teams) and had off field issues, although their off field finances are going well today but never made it back in the GF since (lost PF in 2014, 2020 and 2021) while the Cats won 2009, 2011 and 2022. Watch EggFootys video called the story of the 2007 AFL Grand final. Manily fouced on Ports POV
Far out, I love the Cats.!
+swizzlestickss i would hardly call ports first goal a worthy free kick aswel, umpires makes mistakes week in week out against every team

wtf ken hinkley was part of geelong when they beat port so hard they didn't play finals for 5 years later, which was when ken hinkley became the power coach.
Clever man. The plan was always for him to not let Port win a flag. He is a Geelong double agent man. They seem to be on to him now but it is already too late.
Which grand final was worse? 2019 or 2007
finn nation 2019 was poor 2007 was a hiding but the 2019 I think was worse GWS got stage fright
Yeah, they were both pretty bad. I guess it would have to be 2007 because of the margin, but on the other hand 2019 had an opponent that was just a mismatch, whilst 2007 were against 1st and 2nd. It’s actually tough to say.
2007 by far. Port lost by 5 goals more and GWS actually led almost all of that first quarter, before falling a part.
@@cactus5812 that makes 2019 worse, they barely scored anything after. Port scored a few goals.
easily 2019 ,lower scoring, flat out boring. you can't really point anything out in that game and the things they did was lame.
Look, there's Razor Ray
What a close game port up 2-1
